It is not as easy as it was 10+ years ago to get away with using actual adverts. Anybody and everybody are looking to make a buck nowadays.

This reminds me of last night when Craig Ferguson was talking about Starbucks and their new 31 oz. Trenta size.

He was talking about Starbucks and saying the name over and over, like people would in a normal conversation. Then he asked to see a picture of all the sizes. They blurred out the logo, but you could still tell it's the Starbucks logo.

Really? They have to blur out the logo, but Craig can talk about it and everybody that isn't blind, or been living under a rock for the past ten years, can see through the blur.

It's alright because if he talks about it and we can still make out the colors and lady in the middle, but it is blurred, we won't be able to figure out it is a Starbucks logo.

Maybe if they blurred out the cow and all real advertisements in the game, nobody would be able to figure out what the advertisements are supposed to be. hehe Not really though.

Why is it that stadiums that have a corporate name attached to it can use those real ads in the stadium. Are they considered to be part of the MLB/MLBPA license? Don't recall but are all the real corporate names of team stadiums included in the game? I know in NHL 11 TD Banknorth Gardens in Boston is called Boston Arena in the game because they don't have the rights to it. This caused a big brouhaha on the forum because in the game previews it was included and then it was pulled once the game was released for some reason.

Ha...you wouldn't if you had products that people used images of, without your permission...in a situation that you didn't find ideal for your product image.(Obviously, I'm not talking about The Show...but I doubt companies are going to "freebie" their products at any rate)...

It's gotta work around the horn..not just for one situation.

Totally understand and agree, but on the same clip, you would think these companies would WANT to be in the game, or at least pay to be in the game, free advertising and all.

Then again the MLBPA will rear it's ugly head

I have never heard about this 30% deal. If anyone has some literature on it I would love to take a look. I was under the impression that as long as the copyrighted material (logo) was not included the image could be used. I suppose the best example would be the bats and gloves in the game. They look exactly like the rawlings models just without rawlings logos so the 30% clause seems to not exist there. It's no big deal, but I like to have all the information on stuff like this.

I was wondering if they added the ability to manage both teams in season or franchise mode, if anybody knows.

Well there actually isn't a 30% rule. Although that number has been thrown out there for a while now, it's actually not entirely accurate because it is impossible to put a percentage number on a copyrighted piece of work. But I agree with Enigma in his main point that it is infringement, plain and simple. I deal with copyright issues a lot and there isn't a certain percentage. It's really in the eyes of the court. The safer bet is just not to take the chance at all. And I am sure someone at SCEA brought it up and they were told not to...hence the dog.

Has players potentials been fixed? Like Adrian Gonzalez, Ryan Howard, Miggy, all those guys and others only had C Potential ... Are they A again?

Hopefully they tweaked the logic as far as the cpu using their relievers. The main reason I wanted this feature was to keep from having all the 100 + appearance guys. And closers ONLY closing, even if they haven't pitched in several days.

                              They had the Rawlings license.

And I heard it first hand about the %. Now it can be a baseline that the marketing and lawyers set for them so they can stay in the "safe zone". Either way, better safe than sorry. I am sure other companies receive fines they never tell you about.

Knight said a while back this was one of the big things he brought up and that it looked like it had been tweaked.
