Think about it:

A team that is bankrupt, borrowing money from MLB to stay afloat.
A team that has been relatively nothing in its fifty year history.
A team that is the black sheep of the American League finally getting recognition.
Our coach confessed to using cocaine in the previous season yet still keeping his job. Eleven walk-offs including a walk-off hit by pitch and a walk-off strikeout. Fans falling out of stands, Greenberg/Ryan getting approval to buy the team from the judge at the exact time Michael Young hits a grand slam, Bengie freaking Molina hitting a cycle that included a grand slam, winning the first playoff series in franchise history, the first American League championship.
The sweetest moment: Neftali Feliz striking out the man who started Texas' ten year journey through the desert.

No, I don't want to redo that season.

BTW Knight, I respect what you do in this community, but do you mind not taking my quote and rewording it like that. I'd appreciate it.
Its funny you say this and that the AL is better than the NL when the Rangers play more like a NL team. They beat you with running, bunting and timely hits. Yes they have their power hitters but thats not why they made the WS.

Disappointing. So to take this a step further, if I run on a knuckleball, I'm just as likely to be out as safe as a fastball? I don't know if this was how it was done, but it felt like it last year

Did not test this personally, but I have had much success against Knuckleballers in '10, when they threw the knuckle when I ran, and there was plenty of times I hit my head against the wall at everyone and their mother that ran on me using Wakefield!

Were you running on their fastballs by chance? Or poor jumps?

Sorry, I got a little carried away.

I think this is the place to ask this, and if it's not I'm sorry, but I haven't heard anything about the new videoboard at the Ballpark in Arlington. Has it been updated?

For reference, here is a webcam of the steel structure that held the old videoboard. They are going to weld some more supports and make the whole thing into an HD videoboard.

If any CD guys know the answers...

              1) Just a random Q that dawned on me as I was telling my brother about adding "Go Cubs Go" to play after a win... Are the Sounds of the Show situations split into home/away at all? Having the crowd sing "Go Cubs Go" after a win IN Houston won't quite sound right, compared to only having it play after a win at home. But if not, it's no big deal; I'll still enjoy hearing it after a win and am happy to have the option either way. Home/away would just be icing.

              2) I know someone said the "catch suction" (the vacuum-like area that is the Catch Region) was a little better this year but that the animation was designed to have to "take over" once you got to that area. Is there any sort of option to make the Catch Region smaller? i.e. instead of having a 10-foot diameter circle where you automatically slow down into the auto catch animation, have the circle be adjustable... make it as small as one foot wide (or smaller!) so you really have to get TO where the ball will land, not just the general area, before the animation takes over.

If there's no such option, I'm guess it's too late to add anything like that in... so sorry if #2 sounds more like a wishlist item. Just sort of thinking out loud about the new control options, difficulty settings, etc and wondering if there were any more options for full manual fielding/smaller suction area.

If im not mistaken, in MLB 10, i had the Yankees playing "New York, New York" by Frank Sinatra after they won at Yankee Stadium and not in other ball parks. If it was in '10. im sure it will be in '11.

                  1) You can have it play only for home, you just go under the team options for sounds and apply everything there. All different team ballparks can have all their unique stuff this year added, since they made the options list huge!

                  2) You can not adjust the region, but it is much smaller than it has been in the past. And there were plenty of instances where we missed catchers, and took them off the arms, etc.

No... I usually always get a breaking ball to run on... I'm good at it, since I used to coach. I just keep getting thrown out on knuckleballs...maybe poor jumps, since I use the preset steal

That might be it, I do notice sometimes guys will have some pretty late jumps... and that frustrates me, especially with high BR ability.

I do know BR ability effects the jump, so it could have been worked on more this year, since they brought it to the forefront in the base runner window for our viewing, and I did see a lot of successful steals when we played as well.

i think starting in 09', the number of stolen bases I was get using preset steals dropped dramatically (I think I was getting thrown out probably 30% more). By using it, I noticed that all my basestealers would wait until when the pitcher released the pitch to finally break for second when before some of them would get great jumps. I've tried the manual steal, but I'm not good at timing it right while preparing to swing at the next pitch if needed.

I think baserunning ability is a factor, but perhaps aggressiveness as well? I'd figure a player with a higher aggressiveness would try to steal at the "perfect' time.

Another question. When batters walk up and they show previous year's stats, they show that a player was tied for 2nd in NL, a career high, etc...

Will those things be implemented and dynamic in franchise mode? Say Pujols leads the majors in homeruns in year 1 of my franchise, in year 2, will they make reference to that?

I have a question in regards to errors. Do errors reflect the animation tier for players? For example, if a highly regarded SS has the "gold" animation package and goes into a "silver or bronze" animation but does NOT make the play, will that be considered an error? Likewise, if an average fielder who only has access to a "bronze" tier attempts to make the same play with the same animation and also does NOT, how will that be scored?

These questions become moot if errors are not tied to animations. If they are not based on the animation packages, how are errors determined in the game? Will your pre-load have an impact on fielding errors? Can the CD guys comment on the types of errors (other than throwing via analog) you saw in the game?
