Re: MLB 11 The Show Community Day Discussion Thread - Questions, Answers etc.

I know a lot of you think I'm crazy and are tired of my obsessive campaigning about getting Ethier's stance fixed but it's honestly one of if not the most incorrectly portrayed stances in the game (Feet positioning, leg separation & placement, arm positioning and bat position) have all been wrong

Here's what it should look like

and here's what it has looked like in the game for years

Does anyone else agree that I have a pretty valid request ??

I'm sure there's a generic stance or a different players stance that will work for you.

For the record...you're not upsetting me.
I was trying to be somewhat humorous(at the same time hoping it would stop)
....and I think...Ethier should send you a signed copy of the game..for all you've done for him!

Just keep all stance related posts in the other thread, that's all I ask.

The amount of wailing you've done about it I thought Ethier would be portrayed completely inaccurately.

It's hard to tell because they are different angles, but it really doesn't seem THAT far off, hardly even noticeable. If that's your gripe, I'm thinking it's pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.

Anyway, I was wondering if franchise sim settings have been looked at. In MVP you could sim by half inning and intervene at the start of any half inning. Obviously not a big deal overall but I wondered if this has ever been looked at.

                        Thanks

No it's not the same thing.

In MVP/NCAA you could do this right from the schedule screen without having to go through loading screens and actually loading the game up. Also, it just had an overlay of a scoreboard as opposed that let you jump in any time you see fit, as opposed to in the Show where you have to either advance it manually one half inning at a time or choose yourself where to advance the game.

The system in NCAA/MVP was great for people who ...
                        1) Didn't have enough time to play a full game
                        2) Wanted to play through a lot of seasons but didn't want to just sim weeks at a time. They could sim games and jump into the close ones to play out the last couple innings, but quickly just let the blowouts sim out.

In the Show you have to go into the game (loading screen), then advance the game where you want it manually each time and hope you end up with a tight game by the time you get to the 6th or 7th (or whever it is you want to take over). If the score is lopsided by that point you have to then sim to the end and exit the game (another loading screen), then repeat the process the next day and hope for a close game again.

It can be pretty cumbersome in the Show and for those who don't have a lot of time to play games it can actually take longer to find a game that ends up being close than it is worth.

It would be amaaazinnnnng if they could implement something like this in the Show. It saves a lot of time and lets you advance through series/months very quickly, while still feeling attached to your team since you are playing a lot of pieces of important/close games out.

I was able to play into like 2033 with the NCAA 06 game by using a lot of the "sim and intervene" playstyle. I would love to go deep into a Show franchise with the same thing. A lot of guys seem to mention how they can never make it out of year 1 of a franchise, I guarantee this would help a lot of people do just that!

Once it was re-worked....I mainly got to sim seasons....I didn't get a lot of games...especially consecutive games(to see how the code changed how the CPU handled pitchers over a series)...but the simmed numbers looked spot on really good on default. The ability to tweak with sliders...even better.

You can do this already in The Show.
At the schedule screen to play a game....pick SPORTSCAST MANAGER as your play choice.
You manage the game(it's very quick)....and you can jump in at any time(once your in....you must finish the game either playing...or simming to the end(in game)..you can't come back out to the manager game.

Hmmm, no, this isn't quite the same thing. In MVP/NCAA it went very quickly through the game, like every half inning would appear with the score within like 1 or 2 seconds. If you didn't 'intervene' in like 10 to 15 seconds the game would be simmed through completely.

Whereas (unless I'm missing something and there's a way to advance it faster in Sportscast Manager) it would still take probably 10 minutes or so to get the Sportscast manager to get into the 7th or 8th inning.

If there was an option in Sports Cast manager to advance it automatically batter by batter or half-inning by half-inning that would be exactly what I am looking for (and even better than in the previous MVP/NCAA games, actually).

Actually yeah this Sportscast Manager is cool but I think it would actually be slower than actually loading the game and just manually simming half-inning by half-inning and hoping the score stays close until the point you want to jump in.
