Re: Ok Show fans, to what level of baseball have you played?

Didnt start playing baseball until I was 10 or 11 years old, after a few years of Little League ball I ultimately realized baseball was not my best sport.

I was hit by more pitches then hits I got in a season.

I played from about 6 years old up to High School and then Legion ball. Teammates and coaches told me I could have played D-1 College Baseball, but I never tried. Don't really know why

Re: Ok Show fans, to what level of baseball have you played?

I started in a T-Ball/Slow Pitch league when I was about 7 or 8...played in a slow pitch/fast pitch league when I was 9 and 10...moved up to Little Major League baseball(didn't have Little League in Tallahassee at the time), played Babe Ruth 13 year old baseball after that, went to Junior Major League when I was in the 8th grade...then I started playing high school ball...played from 9th-12th grade...played in a few local Senior Major League smmer leagues...then attempted to walk-on at Florida A&M.

I've play adult league baseball now...was in the Tallahassee Adult League...now I play in the Fla/Ga./Ala. league which is Sunday league that goes throughout the summer.

If I decide to go to grad school, I wouldn't mind attempting to walk-on the college sqaud...but I'm probably not as good anymore...and out of shape...LOL

Re: Ok Show fans, to what level of baseball have you played?

Played all through the young years (8-14), then took 2 years off because there was no team for me to play on. Finally, my junior year of high school my homeschool group got a team going and I played on that my last 2 years of high school. Started every single game of those 2 years at 2B. Decent with the stick, subpar in the field lol

Didn't even attempt to play in college, though if I wanted to I could have walked on, just didn't have the desire to play any more and wanted to focus on school.

That happened to me my senior year...we had a guy who was a major D-I football prospect(he ended up signing with Miami) who left the team less than halfway through the season to prepare for D-I football, which was cool. HOWEVER, when we got to the district tournament, he decided he wanted to come back and play and the coach benched me, let him play, and he made THREE key errors that ended our season against some team from Panama City. What's crazy is the coach used my speed to put two runs on the board in that game...and since it was my last game, I was just cussing at the coach and going off the entire game...I think I even slid an "Eff You" in while arguing in the dugout.

Long story short, I had to deal wit 4 different head coaches during my entire High School career...the one that left after my junior year(pitched for Tampa Bay) told me before he quit that I would be his go to guy and to quit football and stay healthy...I quit football to focus on baseball and he leaves...the coach we get after that(the one who RUINED my senior season) is now in prison for having sex with an underage girl the week of the district tournament game...LOL

I played from T-Ball through high school. Started Varsity as a freshman at a 5A school. I have played in adult leagues which i like cause its regular 9 inning baseball. This summer im taking a break rehabing a knee injury and getting my body into better shape.

Re: Ok Show fans, to what level of baseball have you played?

Started playing ball at age 5 played through my sophomore year of college( it was a junior college team Miami Dade).

After that kept playing hardball through age 25. Then took a few years off from playing any kind of baseball. I returned to the field at age 30 playing tournament softball till age 37. Now (age 41) I just play in a great Sunday league with many old friends I played ball with in high school with. I also coach my 6 year old son.

So yeah you can say I love baseball more than any other sport. I throw righty and hit lefty. I have been playing 3rd base since 1985 and that is where I still play.

                            College Baseball - Division III

Im in my third year at the Division III level. I suppose I could go pro yet, but I reeeeeeally am not going to hang my hat on that. lol Ive been playing organized ball since I was 4, but Ive been playing as long as I have memories. Ive always been the small guy but Ive also been the best player on all the teams Ive played for. My current college team certainly has a lot of talent and Id put myself somewhere in the middle talent wise, though I consider myself a SMARTER player than most. Which you youngins could use some teachin' on....lol

All I was saying is that if he is already in high school and doesn't yet have an idea that he might be a prospect (ie. is among the top players in his league, has had attention from scouts already), the chances are very slim he will be drafted.

Sure many players might develop later and blossom in college, but I would say most college players who end up getting drafted were great high school players too.

That's awesome...going into my senior season I injured my lower back, so I would go to practice half speed not really able to show what I could do. When I got back to playing shape, our assistant coach (who later hired me as an assistant) was hitting me fungos and was like "Damn man, you're smooth in the infield." He told the coach right then and there we have a new starter in the infield(even though I was the starter before my senior year).

What's crazy is that the assistant coach actually stood up for me a couple of games and let the head coach know that he was making a mistake benching me and killing the chemistry we'd built up as a team. The assistant coach took over, gave me shot to start during the High School Summer League(just to give me some work I'd missed during the season), and has won back to back district titles.
