Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread
Wondering if anyone else has noticed that the computer pitchers throw a fairly good ratio of balls and strikes, but the balls that they throw barely miss. Almost every ball I see the computer throw is so close to the plate that it could be called a ball or a stirke.
Anyone know what to adjust to make the computer throw the balls a little more off the plate? Not sure if I should adjust pitching control or command? I hate slider adjustments, and have never made any in the past, but I might just for this issue. Any help would be great!
Control has a direct influence on batting average. Unless you want that, wait on the control slider.
The CPU actually, in my experience, has a wonderfull strike percentage on Default levels this year. Where the issue for me is: hitters counts. Strikes are WAY up from last year.
I lowered consistency two clicks, leaving everything else on default, and my walk numbers are up. The reason being that balls in general miss by a wider margin, and those pitches on the black in hitters counts also have a larger likelihood to miss. All this WITHOUT influencing your team average or CPU strike percentages drastically. Both of which, to me, are good things, as CPU pitch philosophy won't have an aggressively noticeable change.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread
I am having difficulties turning double plays or gunning down runners with infielders.
It appears that when the situation calls for them, I am simply lobbing the ball softly to the intended bases (e.g. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, home). Even with a grounder to short, that fielder softly lobs the ball over to first despite someone like Ichiro speeding down to first. It appears as though the infielder would simply nonchalantly throw the ball, even when the situation calls for them to quickly turn a double play.
I have tried:
(A) tapping the button
(B) holding down the button until the indicator reaches red.
(C) holding down the button until the indicator reaches red, and tapping the button a second time immediately after.
-Game is on default All-Star with no slider adjustments.
-Using classic buttons for fielding.
(1) How do I stop softly lobbing the ball with my infielders?
(2) Basically, how do I gun down the runner (or increase my throwing power) to the point where the animation and ball velocity actually looks the part (e.g. power behind the fielders throw)?Last edited by strawberryshortcake; 03-15-2011, 07:13 PM.Comment

And if you prefer to be 100% certain, you can pick the uniforms for both teams.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

This is a technical question: why do I see a sort of "halo" effect around the player models during cutscenes? It's very noticeable when a better is walking up and getting set. It only happens on my one LCD monitor but not on my Sony HDTV (only a 19" though so I prefer the bigger monitor).
I've fooled around with tons of video settings in my PS3, nothing changes it. I had it in MLB 10 but now that I have it in both games there's obviously something wrong on my end. What would Doc do?Comment

It is annoying though. I know it's a minor thing but I wish my bigger screen would have the same picture quality with this game. Also odd that this is the only game with this issue. Oh well, I'll just deal with it.What would Doc do?Comment
