Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

Wow, on the very last day of the season I managed to get home run number 50 and hit number 100, which incidentally was home run number 51. So that was an extra 150 training points. Now it's time for playoff baseball, very exciting, my braves team has the best hitting but some very bad pitching. Even scoring 10 runs a game may not be enough a lot of the time.

Just finished my 2014 season as a pitcher with the Tigers.

2011- Pitched in the minors with Arizona
2012- Traded midway through the season to Boston, spent time in the minors, called up to the majors down the stretch, pitched ok, we won the world series though I struggled in my 2 post season starts
2013- Traded to Tigers in offseason, had an ok year, mid 4s era, we missed the playoffs by a game
2014- Was having a decent year, low 4's era, but then just started dominating the last 2 months of the year. I think I won my last 5 or 6 starts, and we caught the Twins and won the central. Played the Yankees in the first round, I won game 1, we bombed CC, I gave up a lot of baserunners but managed to pitch 7 innings giving up 3 runs. We lost game 2, won game 3, and lost game 4. For some reason we pitched game 2 starter Clayton Kershaw in game 5 instead of me and we lost.

Having a lot of fun with this

My 2B is still in AA (first year) and is dominate. Leading the league in hits, doubles, and triples along with being 4th in AVG. His contact ratings are both at 76 and his power ratings are both at 64, yet I can't seem to get a callup to AAA Tuscon. But, it'll be worth it when I do. Hoping to make the big leagues after Spring Training next year.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

I let the game decide my fate, and they initially put me on the Pirates, only to trade me to the White Sox halfway through 2011. I made it to 2014, 2nd full season as the starting 2B of the White Sox, and while I've definitely struggled at times at the plate and with injuries, I'm not really doing that badly. Of course, I don't play all my games, that would be crazy.

It's getting hard to watch Mark Beuhrle at this point, his ERA's well over 10 going into May, and his ERA was around 6.50 last season. While the White Sox did sign Ryan Zimmerman, we're currently 3rd in the AL Central and not looking likely to catch the Twins anytime soon.

The Yankees have won three straight World Series, and in the great 12/3 Trade Apocalypse of 2013, brought in a whole bunch of players including Mat Latos, David Wright(who was traded from the Mets to the Angels at some point), David Price(for Phil Hughes who was awesome and a key part of their third straight championship!), John Danks, Chric Coghlan, and Ian Kennedy. They also acquired Andrew McCutchen at some point. The Dodgers, not to be outdone on 12/3, acquired King Felix, Victor Martinez, Matt LaPorta, Ricky Romero, Elvis Andrus, and Alfonso Soriano. They later signed Joey Votto. Yea I know offseason transactions can be ridiculous.

I'm going to be playing the third game of a three game set against the Yanks. Beuhrle pooped the bed in game 1 and we lost 14-7, but came back to win 5-3 in game 2. My guy came up with the bases loaded in the 4th against Price, and hit a fly ball to center that I thought was just going to be routine. However, it kept carrying, and suddenly I saw McCutchen climb the wall and barely miss it! Feels good to hit a slam against the Yanks

I've just wasted 40 minutes of my life courtesy of the insane managing rules in RttS for pitchers. Game 4 of 2015 ALDS, I'm on the Jays, pitching the game to clinch it for us. Up 1-0 I have a 4-hit shutout going into the 9th, and with 2 outs and not having hit 90 pitches yet I give up an infield dribbler hit. Manager immediately pulls me, closer comes in and we lose. In shock and frustration, I turn off game, and then attempt it again. Same thing, 3-hit, 1 walk shutout, infield hit with 2 outs. Manager immediately pulls me. Nathan comes in and we lose. Mind you I have 2 Cy Young Awards and have already led the Cubs to 2 championships, and all my pitching and fielding stats are 99. So happy 4th of July to SCEA and thanks for getting your managing tips from Tony Larussa.

wow that was a slugfest if I've ever seen one... I just finished an RTTS game early in my 4th season (2nd full at MLB level as a 1B for the cubs.
1st at bat vs. Greinke - 3 run HR
2nd at bat - hard line drive to left barely missed a second 3 run HR
3rd at bat - struck out looking
4th at bat - 474 ft Grand Slam to dead center into the riverboat at the Reds home stadium
5th at bat - RBI single.

Final score of the game - Reds 23 Cubs (my team) 12 and I had 8 of the RBI's

2 grand slams in the game, mine and J. Sanchez got one for the reds. 6 total HR in the game.

              Over the last 2 games I am 7-9 2 HR, 1 2B, 10 RBI

I'm just two months into my first season as a SS for the Mississippi Braves (AA Atlanta affiliate) and keep getting this annoying e-mail.

"Even though you've met your goals, you're not being promoted. We need your skills and your statistics to get a little better first."

I get the skills part because I haven't had enough time to get them up very high, and I don't expect to be called up yet, but the stats part kills me in a funny way.

Over the last 25 games, since I became an everyday player, I'm killing the ball. I'm hitting over .400, OPSn at nearly a 1.300 clip, have 17 doubles, 4 HR's, 4 triples, and a hit in all but one of those games.

I feel you, and it's very aggravating. It wasn't the playoffs but I just went through something similar. I was the opening day starter for the 2013 season and had pitched 6.2 shutout innings. I, obviously, retired the first two batters in the 6th inning, then gave up a ground ball single up the middle to the third batter. Of course I was immediately pulled. All I had given up was two hits and had struckout nine up to that point. When I left we had a 1-0 lead only to go on and lose the game 3-2 and was at just 78 pitches.

This is the first thing I've read that's a positive thing about my player being on the Orioles. (They've been AWFUL in my first 2 full seasons at the MLB level).

That said, the O's may surprise in 2016. We picked up Miguel Cabrera, and picked up Joakim Soria to close (whereas it was David Aardsma in my first couple MLB seasons.) The Yanks and Sox are weaker than they've been in the other two seasons as well. Still good, but not as dominant. As it is, we're about 45 games in, and the O's are still in 3rd behind those two, but are also 6 games above .500. I don't think we were ever above .500 at all in my player's first couple years!

You would think with all my player's attributes and awards and stats they'd at least send out the pitching coach first for a mound visit. And I mentioned some dozens of pages earlier that yeah it also happens in regular season.

anyone hit two homeruns in an inning? I managed to hit a grandslam in the 8th then later in 8th inning hit a solo homerun. Was pretty ep1c, why is ep1c bleeped out.

Forgive me as I am new to the game, but can't you adjust the slider for how quick a pitcher gets the hook?

I have to say, I purchased the PS3 along with the show a couple of weeks ago, and am loving it. I started my RTTS as a LF. I was drafted by the Mariners and had a pretty solid first season hitting .311 with 15 HR's and 62 RBI's. I started my second season in the AAA after re-signing with the Mariners and have since been traded to San Diego, thank God as the Mariners pitching was horrible, as well as, the hitters hitting behind me. I would get on with no outs/1 out only to have the next hitters strike out and not even move me over one base. I am currently midway through my second season right at the all-star break. I am hitting .370 with 6 HR's (struggling to hit HR's this season) and about 37 RBI's and was selected to represent the USA in the futures game. I am trying to keep all of my ratings close, my contact for L and R are in the 59 - 60 range and my power is in the low 50's. My fielding is what I am currently working on increasing in the hopes that I can be called up to the majors this year. I will be a free agent at the end of the year and depending on how my year goes, I may test the market in the off-season in hopes that maybe my Tigers would be interested in me.

I finally got call up to the bigs in my first season with the Tampa Bay Rays. I spent the majority of the season in AA, playing there as the starting CF till about the middle of July. Then got called up to AAA Durham and played there for about 2 weeks going in to August and then due to some trades the Rays made, they decided to give me the call to MLB and be the starting DH for the team and backing up BJ Upton when he needs a day off. Pretty stoked I made it this quick but I hope it doesnt ruin my rookie status for next season because I wanted to contend for rookie of the year but with August almost being over I doubt I would be able to.

Is it just the two minor league teams that I have been on (Mariners and Padres), or whenever you get on do the people behind you strike out at an insanely high rate? It seems like I can never get moved over because the guys behind me strike out.

Got dealt a bad break with my AA Braves 3B player Mac Pepper, when diving for a line drive down the 3rd base line resulting in a broken arm.

i was side lined for 60 days, however when returning to the starting line up in a rainy game i didn't miss a beat... going 3 for 4 with 2 home runs 7 Rbi's, one of the home runs was a walk off game winning rainbow shot off a hanging curveball to straight away center field, that was awesome, and my best game so far
