Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

I'm in the 2014 season (2nd full season in the bigs) and I'm playing the Dodgers. This is the lineup I see...

    CF Matt Kemp
    RF Corey Hart
    1B Miguel Cabrera
    3B Jose Bautista
    C Brian McCann
    LF Juan Rivera
    SS Jason Bartlett
    2B Juan Uribe

Talk about scary. Kemp, Hart, Cabrera, Bautista, and McCann 1-5? Wow!!

They've still got Kershaw and some other decent but not great starters. Somehow they're only 31-34 with that sick lineup, though.

I hate AA. Into my first season as a SP. Got into the rotation after about a month of work in the pen. In my first start I pitched 8 innings with just 2 hits no walks no earned runs and 14 K's. My manager pulls me after the 8th we had a 3-0 at the time. The closer comes and and he blows the game and we lose 7-3 and I get the ND.

That doesn't just happen in AA. It'll happen in the majors, too. It's a flaw in the game. I just had a start with my pitcher for the Mets. We had a 6-1 lead in the bottom of the 9th and I get the first two batters out. I give up a weak single to the third batter of the inning and get pulled for the closer. We won the game but I was still ticked.

I've had playoff games where I've been pulled with two outs in the 7th or 8th and a 3+ run lead and e went on to lose the game because my bullpen would go on to allow like 5 or 6 runs in the final two innings.

Man that is rough guess I will just have to deal with it. Still got 430 training points for that game

Really? I never get pulled from games and it is starting to get a little frustrating. I even see the message pop up at the top "<INSERT here name> is getting tired" and they leave me in.

Last night I was playing the Spankees and we were up 4-0 in the 8th. Of course I was getting tired so I started missing my spots, gave up two walks and two hits in the inning but worked out of the jam in the end. They still put me out there for the 9th. Immediately Jeter got on base and then another hit to Cano... Never even got a visit from the pitching coach.

I don't know about you guys but my team hangs me out to dry every single game. Granted, I am 19-0 right now in my starts but that is neither here nor there. I wouldn't mind a break every now and again going into the 9th with a 4-5 point lead.

Edit: Personally, I think the glitch is leaving the SP's out there to roast too long. In my entire career 2 1/2 seasons so far, I have been pulled from 4 games, maybe... And that is being generous.

You can even here the announcers in the early goings saying "it is still early so we don't imagine you will see him past the 7th inning regardless of the situation" but there I am, pitching my arm into jello in the 9th. LOL!

I'm currently in early August of 2015. I play 2B for the Detriot Tigers. This is my 3rd full year in the majors.

              I'm hitting .295 with 12 HR's and 32 RBI's. I was on the 60 day DL from early April - early June.

This is year is much better then my previous two. In 2013 I finished the year with a batting average of .229 and last year finished with .272 17 HR's and 70 RBI's.

My team is garbage. Finished the past 2 years in last place and right now we are 4th/5th in the AL Central 15 games back.

I wonder if the manager hook slider is why you are each seeing the opposite behavior? That's the only factor involved that you have any influence over. I had mine at 7 and was getting pulled late - 2 back to back 1 hit shut-outs in the 9th, no energy left, gave up a hit and was pulled. I moved the slider back down to 5 to start the new season, but I've been playing other players so far, and haven't pitched yet with the new setting.

And chemical, getting 80 points per game with a position player is outstanding - I've had games where I had less than 20 points for the game, in fact, I've had at least once where I earned 0 pts for the game. You do get points for fielding - putouts & assists, although not a whole lot, it does kick in. Your ratings will climb slowly but surely.

Another subject entirely - has anyone purchased the "advanced stats" package? If you buy it, does it apply to just the one RTTS player you bought it under, all RTTS players, or the entire game (franchise play included)? I figured I'd ask here first, since the mods tend to move all RTTS stuff here.

Yes, the manager hook slider is one of the few I left on default.

Ok, thanks. That is totally fine. As long as I know that low points are normal than I am ok with riding it out. I already have one player in the majors so that hunger to get to the majors has been appeased for now.

                  Thanks for the info.

Well got my first win and it was easy. 9 innings 1 hit no runs and 1 walk and 10 K's. My guy is a beast his era through 27 innings is 0.33 and I have the settings on allstar. Maybe the cpu sliders are low?

Good Luck. Wait till you get to the majors and play in the Playoffs a lot of pressure.

Tell me about it. I am about to enter September with my SP and the Minnesota Twins. My first playoff stint was in the minors, AAA, and I won the first game but we ended up getting blown out before moving on to the next series. I went from pulling out off a 2-1 win in the first game to simulating the offseason. The only bright spot was I got the Spring Invite which dulled the playoff loss some.

Winning the World Series my first year in the Majors would certainly give me a good bargaining chip as this is also a contract year.

So my team won the AA championship (idk wat u call it lol)....In 7 games, i batted. 329 with 3 doubles and 7 rbi's...a not-flashy but productive series if u ask me...Really enjoyed getting my feet wet in my 1st RTTS ever...i look forward to bigger and better things in my 2nd year....So when i began my offseason, I received a 1 year contract to remain with the Rays...Should i negotiate with them, accept the current contract offer or hit the open market?

I am certainly not declaring this the norm or anything. But my first RTTS ever, I got the same contract for the same exact money with the Phillies. I took that to mean they didn't really see my player to be very valuable. I was right because he is still in the minors for his 3rd season.

My second RTTS ever, I signed a two year deal in the offseason of my first year in baseball, AA, worth $5 mil at $2.5 mil a year. I played half of a second season in the minors, the other half in the majors and then my 3rd year in the majors.

I sort of interpreted the fact that they offered me such low money to mean that I was not meeting their expectations. I could be very wrong, though. That may just be my player. But you seem to be putting up some decent numbers judging from this and past posts I have seen from you. I would have expected them to offer you at least close to a $1 mil.
