I haven't tried the CP position, really. I did for one season but the lack of command made me abandon it, haha. Are the seasons quick? I'd be more than welcome to try and convert my SP to CP (not sure if manager will let me, though).

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

I've recently noticed a major glitch that is really disappointing.

I'm the 1B for the indians and we just made the playoffs in 2015, playing the Yankees in the ALDS.

For as long as I've been playing this mode I've used "classic" RTTS settings which skips to my at bats and fielding opportunities. For the playoffs I thought it would be fun to see the whole game, so I'm now watching every pitch.

It's fun, because you get to feel the game build and be in the flow of it, but there is a huge glitch/bug. It has now happened for the 2nd straight game.

In game 2 of the series we were getting to C.C. Sabathia pretty early, and so he apparently gets "pulled" after the 4th inning, except he didn't actually get pulled. The pause menu shows some Japanese pitcher is currently on the mound, but in the actual game it is still CC. He ended up pitching the entire game.

Now in game 3 it just happened to my team. Starting pitcher pulled to start the 6th inning, except he hasn't actually been pulled, he's still on the mound.

It's hard to know what impact this has on the game beacuse I don't know what the actual result is. Is it actually a new pitcher but he just looks like the old pitcher? Or is it the same pitcher with the same pitches and the loss of stamina?

In Game 2 with CC he ended up pitching a complete game loss, and in the box score after the game it showed him throwing 9 innings and it showed the other guy, whoever he was, as a pitcher, but with no stats - 0 IP, etc. Not sure what's going to happen this time.

Anyone else seen this happen? Really frustrating. I want to immerse myself in the playoffs, but that's hard to do when this happens.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

          Well, it's finally happening...

At the tail end of the 2018 regular season now, and all my player's ratings are at 99, except bunting and drag bunting.

It's nice hitting some homers now (last season was my career high with 22. Had that by the all-star break this year.) It didn't bother me that I wasn't really hitting them before, as I was building the guy up as a speedy, good fielding, high average player first and foremost. The power ratings were the last ones I started putting any "extra" points (points after meeting my ratings goals).

So, needless to say...8 games left in the season, 38 HRs, 89 RBIs (both career highs, by far). About 20 games ago, they moved me from leadoff to cleanup, and it's obviously helped my RBI #'s. The O's have clinched a playoff berth for the 3rd consecutive year, and are 2 GB of the Yanks for the division crown.

But, this all got me thinking. As much fun as it may be to "max out" a guy, wouldn't it be nice to have an option something like this: At the beginning of your RTTS, where you select power or speed, good fielding or good arm, etc... you pick those just like it is this year. Then if, for instance, you pick the options to make the player a speedy, good fielder, with just decent arm and power - type of player, certain ratings have a "cap" of sorts, where you can only improve them to a maximum rating. I think NBA 2k11's MyPlayer mode has something like this (though I can't be for certain... I'm still in year one of my MyPlayer on that). This way, if you want to make a certain type of player, they will be that type of player. Again, it's been fun to max out this player, but it's kind of like having early-career Juan Pierre develop Pujols-like power as his career goes along.

But yeah, just a thought. I know I could always just put self-imposed "caps" on the ratings if I wanted to keep him a certain type of player. But, thought it might be kind of fun to have an option like this, that could be turned on or off when you start your RTTS. (Also, I have no programming knowledge, so I don't really know how difficult this would be. Just a thought I had as I was closing in on maxing him out.)

I would have posted this in the main area for more eyes to view but we have to follow OS rules. I'm sure this will soon be lost and buried in the MLB 11 "Road To The Show" catacombs.

Would like to see my career RTTS stats automatically displayed on a website such as http://theshownation.com/.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

I guess everyone can max out their own ratings since there aren't any limitations or caps, but what I'm doing with my RTTS is capping my ratings (I'll stop adding points when they reach a certain ratings then when they start decreasing due to lack of training, I'll use points to maintain it at the same rating).

So far I've done this with speed (I think I'm either in the high-70's or low-80's, I'm tempted to say 82) and for the rest I have these in plan:

              93 CNT R
              93 CNT L
              90 PWR R
              87 PWR L

              85 CLT
              99 PVIS
              82 PDIS

              94 DUR
              74 ARM
              78 ACC

              79 REA
              90 FLD

              80 BABL
              53 BAGG

I'm pretty close with most of these.

Alright, so I'm stumped... I have 86 BR Ability and 77 SPD and yet I still get picked off on every steal attempt. During baserunning training, I usually can only 1 or 2 successful attempts if I try and purely guess when he's going to throw, but going on reaction, even with "good" jumps, I get picked off no matter what.

Am I missing something? Any tips?

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

Won ROY with my SF Giants LF as a 20 year old. Finished with a .280/.330/.490 slash, 101 Ks and about 36 BBs. What got me the ROY was accumulating 24 homeruns and about 90 RBIs on a Giants team that failed to score 400 runs on the season. Now in my second year, 2014, we have gotten rid of Andres Torres and Aubrey Huff with Aaron Hicks and Brandon Belt taking over full time respectively. Hak Ju Lee (B potential) at SS, Jason Donald at 2B, and the Giants superstars of Posey and Sandoval at their respective positions. Cody Ross is still in RF. I am trying to move over to RF constantly but Bochy won't have it.

Our starting rotation consists of Lincecum, Cain, Bumgardner, Sanchez, and Wheeler. Brian Wilson was traded to the Braves while I was in the minors for Kimbrel and he is now a complete stud in the game instead of just being an elite closer.

As of May 20th, I am batting .230 with 4 homeruns and only 20 RBIs. I am sporting a .340 OBP % and a .333 SLG %. Why is this? Well for one my guy has just been slumping horribly, even with 80+ contact/power/vision ratings, but I also don't get any good pitches because nobody good bats behind me so they just pitch around me every at-bat, I already have 40 BBs on the season and getting good at working counts, but in my last 20 games or so I have about 12 hits so I am starting to turn it around and am keeping my walk rate up. At the end of April my AVG was down to .190 and the OBP % was still .300+ so I am still a productive player, just not putting the bat on the ball. I hope to finish the year with at least 25 HR to improve on last year and at least get back up to .280 and finish with an OPS above .900.

Our record is good enough to lead the Wildcard by 4 games right now, but we are in the middle of June and this could easily change. Hopefully I can carry this team to the playoffs if I can get hot and remain a steady threat in the middle of the line up.

Favorite part about this season so far is since I have just started hitting, I hit my 3rd and 4th homeruns in back to back games against the Dodgers. Both of them were walk-off solo homeruns in the bottom of the 9th.

Just have the game sim your base running for you. A much less annoying way of doing it.

Yeah, I tried this and it didn't work. I wanted a perfect all-99's except for power player. I wanted my power to be 40s or 50s at the absolute maximum. Unfortunately, when I got all my non-power attributes to 99, the game then forced me to level up my power or else I faced not completing half my goals (which if you do thrice you get benched). No matter how many times I tried to exit and reload that save, while the production (RBI, walks, hits, etc.) goals changed, the power goals kept being there, and this happened on every new goal period. And the game kept them there until I got to about 88 or so on power. So...no, you don't have a choice really. At least not in my experience. At that point I just went all in to get power to 99. Kind of disappointing actually (in my case, yours may vary). I wanted to be a lead-off hitter, and after 6 years of being one am now the clean-up hitter (behind an AWFUL hitter, mind you). There isn't even an option for me to ask to bat 3rd.

Yeah, I figured that would be the case. I'm in the same boat... wanted to be a leadoff guy, and was until about 20 or 30 games left in the season, and I've been a cleanup guy ever since. That's kind of why I think it'd be nice to have an option like the above, but have it to where it could be turned on or off before the RTTS started, so that if someone wanted to max a guy out, they still could. But others that wanted them to remain a leadoff-type guy, and not gain a ton of power, could do that without getting failed ratings goals.

So, the end of 2018 was very interesting...

The O's finished 2 games behind the Yankees for the division crown, going 98-64. We played the Tigers in the first round... and got swept.

So the offseason begins. 2019 is going to be my 6th full year of MLB service, so I'll be due to be a free agent after the upcoming season. I'd like to explore my options when that FINALLY happens. So, after an All-Star season, where I finished with a line of .294, 39 HR, 94 RBI, 30 SB, and won my 2nd Gold Glove, the O's offered me a contract of 7 years, $125 mil. I negotiate them down to 1 year, $18.5 mil (since I want to see what's out there in FA following the upcoming season). Sign the contract, start simming the rest of the offseason, then get a notification:

"You've been traded to the Mets!"

Yeah, they traded a 27 year old player, with nearly all ratings at 99, for a 35 year old OF whose name escapes me at the moment. Very odd. Guess they were upset I didn't agree to have my first FA opportunity bought out. I wouldn't have been opposed to re-signing with the O's in the next offseason, but I just wanted to see what other teams may offer.

So, I'll be a Met for this season, then we'll see what's out there. If nothing else, it definitely has added a little excitement to the upcoming season.

I created a RF got drafted by Mets played through the first 3 months with my AA team. I'm struggling quite a bit only hitting .370 1HR 26RBI struck out 13times at 152 at bats so need to get that down but I'm loving this game so far

Hey do any of you guys notice that when you get injured for a long time you automatically come back as the bench? I just got traded from the Astros to the Yanks (hooray world series chance this year!!) and I played the first 6 games and broke my arm on a steal attempt. Now Im maxed out in power and contact and 90s in everything else so i had like 5 HR in 6 games( hot start I know.) I come back and am being spot started and eventually pass the back up in HR in June (he's hitting .347 but no power) and after one of my best games ever where I have a 4-4 2B 2HR 9RBIs finally they are like Your the starter.
