Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

On my second MLB season with my monster SS,(Won the MVP as a rookie but us Blue Jays lost to Seattle in the ALDS) and I all ready got to the All-Star break. Though were not gonna get to the playoffs cause were 10-71. I was sure for a little while I was the only one scoring. Hopfully they will trade me cause our pitching is horrible and they traded Vernon Wells and Troy Glaus to Boston for a stupid starting pitcher who had an Era of 12.48 in 16 starts. I'm hoping they get rid of him cause if we win the rest of our games we might get into 3rd place. Stupid Yankees, Red Sox and Rays.

Maybe a trade to the Twins cause there in the weakest division with only one team thats over .500 which is them.

My team is terrible. We make horrible moves. We traded away Miquel Cabera for Prince Fielder. Only to trade Prince Fielder a year later for a mediocre reliever, can't think of his name right now.

Hopefully I'll be traded this year but I doubt it.
To bad about your terrible team. I just started my RTTS with this guy so I'm still in AA. Are team is pretty good we are in 2nd place.

dude 10-71 thats bad but hey my monster LF whos had a .350 40 HR season past 3 yrs (i wanna be in the hall of fame so yea its easy) just randomly got traded to the yankees from the astros for brett gardner. Probably the worst trade ever cause i did not even have enough years for F/A but I am glad because Yanks just won world series.

Does anyone ever have weird SP rotations in their RTTS? In my pitcher RTTS the setup man is the ace and same for my 1B RTTS

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

            Well, I got traded again.
I started out as a hopeful little center fielder in the Yankees AA system. Then halfway through 2011 I got traded to the A's for the corpse of Hideki Matsui. I then spent the next year and a half working my way up the ladder. Finally in 2013 I had my first full year. I ended up spending 2013-2015 playing for the A's, a time in which we won 2 World Series (didn't win it in 2015), and I had a season with 103 SB. After 2015, the A's low-balled me during the offseason with their offer. Seeing as how I was the "straw that stirs the drink" on that franchise (and having all ratings other than power 99), I said no. Traded to the Rockies, signed there for a bit more.

Speaking of which, because of the odd way the game develops pitchers, pretty much every single prospect that comes up has a 75 mph mega Santana/James Shields/Hoffman changeup and a 95 mph fastball. And since I'm in 2016, the league is now full of them. SCEA might want to balance that out for MLB 12.

Yeah, it gets weird. Also some weird fetish for batting catchers third regardless of how good they are. Back in my first ever RttS, when I was mega clean-up hitter man for he Royals our manager kept batting Lucas Duda 3rd in front of me. That line-up was AWESOME, except for the part where the guy who should've been batting 8th or 9th was batting 3rd. In my current RttS, Miguel Montero (pretty good, but not even top 5 on this line-up in 2015) is for some reason batting 3rd in front of me.

What I find weird also is how many guys just get 1 year contracts, year after year. 2 years ago, my team (the O's) signed Miguel Cabrera (won AL MVP), Joakim Soria, Dan Haren and John Lannan to 1 year contracts: made the playoffs. Last year, all of those guys went elsewhere, and we signed Buster Posey, Hunter Pence, and Kyle McLellan (who, by the way, seems vastly over-rated to me in MLB 11. He's always up for Cy Young each year in my RTTS) to 1 year contracts. Signed Ian Stewart to a 3 year contract (wound up 2nd in AL MVP voting in his first season with us). At the deadline, traded for Albert Pujols, who was on a 1-year contract. (Keep in mind, I'm now in 2018, so these moves were in 2016 and 2017). Result: made the World Series and lost to Philly in 5 games. All the 1 year guys moved on. (I suppose this could be the issue that has been discussed on these forums where cpu teams mismanage their budget and a whole bunch of stars wind up on the FA list after x amount of seasons.)

Anyway...makes for very odd seasons when so many of your teammates are new each year. Makes me wonder if my guy will get a multi-year offer when I can (finally) hit free agency at the end of next season.

Yeah!!!! I just got traded to the Twins for 3 or 4 prospects.
We just barely got to the playoffs and I won Mvp again. Though unlucky me were facing the Red Sox and we lost all 8 games we played them after the All-Srar break. So hopefully I can do some of my playoffs magic and get to the alcs. If we get to the world series were 100% likely to lose to the millwakee(Don't know how to spell it) 4 straight. I'll go find out now.

I've decided to try and make it to the HOF at each position. Might be a little hard but we'll see.

Started off with a SP drafted to the Rays' AA affilliate. I went for command and stamina. Started off with a SLOW but accurate 4FSB, slow but accurate sinker, and a circle-change. I decided to get 5 pitches ASAP and added a cutter and a slider. This combo gives me 2 ways to get strikeouts: sinker then circle-change (both break the same) or cutter then slider (this combination is absolutely filthy went from like 3 to 20 strikeouts in a week with it). Still in the BP but after one really bad game where I gave up 8ish, my ERA has creeped down towards 3.00 and I meet at least 3/4 of the goals. Hopefully I'll get a crack at starting soon.

This game can be so fusturating at times. My batting average dropped from .284 to .243 last night. When I did make contact with the ball it was right at a fielder. Couldn't do a damn thing. I eventually had to stop playing because I began getting angry and swinging at bad pitches.

I just had a 2-4 game with a double and triple so hopefully things will turn around. And my team (Tigers) are still in last place.

Finished my second full season in the bigs as the RF for the Indians. Batted .330 25HR 110RBI and the Tribe finished 83-79, 4 GB from the Tigers. In the offseason, signed a $2.6M deal. Then my playing time and contract issues were resolved by being traded to the Reds. I am batting 7th to start the year, but I am hoping to increase my stats going from the AL to the NL.

By the way just wondering, this year and last year I had a sophomore slump. In The Show '10 I had 20 fewer points in AVG and about 20-25 fewer RBIs and 10 fewer HR. In this years game it wasnt as bad, with increases in AVG and RBI, but 10 fewer HR. Does anyone else experience a sophomore slump in their RTTS' ?

Does anybody have ANY tips for the "Contact Training Session"? I'm on at least level 4 on all of the other batter training sessions, but can not for the life of me get past level 2 of this one. You have to get 10 "Fair with Good Contact" hits out of 20 chances. I've tried everything I can think of, have gotten 9 on 2 or 3 occasions, but more often than not, I'm fouling off perfect timing swings, or ripping grounders back up the middle that are somehow "fair with poor contact", even though they're blistered.

                          Really, really maddening...

Is your power in the 50-60 range by any chance? I've found that to be pure hell in my 2015 season with my CF. Now in 2016 (it's 2016, not 2015 like I said in a previous post) I've got my power approaching 90, a lot more balls go in the gap.

Also, did this today (THIRD DECK! look top portion of video to see ball land):
