Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

I don't really know what the heck has happened, but in his last two advancement periods, my player's been in a MONSTER slump. This is his 6th season now (3rd full season at the MLB level). Finished last year batting .301, having missed around 55 games due to injury.

To give an idea of how bad this slump has been: After the first two advancement periods (roughly 5 weeks or so), he was hitting around .345, with 6 HRs (not a power hitter, so this is pretty good this early), 19 RBIs, 11 BBs, 11 Ks. Felt awesome to have as many walks as Ks. Now, after the next two advancement periods (again, roughly 5 weeks or so): .237 BA , 8 HRs, 24 RBIs, 14 BBs, .... 35 Ks.

Yeah...there's been quite a bit of shots that have been good, hard liners, deep flies, etc. , that just resulted in outs. Plenty of "Good at-bats", just a LOT of outs. And for some reason, it's been more difficult to check swing, resulting in a lot more Ks.

Anyway...it's been downright infuriating at times. I keep pushing through, thinking "his ratings are way too good, I've GOT to be due for a monster hot streak any day now..." Despite all these struggles, still can't stop playing it. REALLY want to get back to being a very difficult out, as he was early in the season.

Well, I for one was very excited about RTTS in MLB The Show. I mashed in Double A, then got called up to Triple A and sucked the first season. The next season in Triple A, I mashed again. Then I get a call up to the big league club, and completely stunk. It ruined my rookie year and everything. The next season, I stunk again. This is my third season with the club, and I'm having an up-and-down season. I'm at the point when I'm thinking about quitting RTTS.

My swing's always late or early, I'm always "trying to pull the ball". I'm hating it. Can anyone provide some advice? I like MLB The Show, specially RTTS, but I can't seem to get a good break.

Throught 89 games at AA, I'm batting .368 with 43 runs, 24 doubles, 9 triples, and 10 HR's. I started with the Giants as a Shortstop, but got traded to the Astros Minor League system. The team sucks at batting, only 2 other guys besides me anywhere near .300, so I'm stuck with only 44 RBI's.

EDIT: And because the "manager" sits me like every other game, I can't qualify for the league leaders

I created a 1B/3B 2B, currently playing in AA...Made him a speedster, juan pierre type of player.

Change the timing slider and see if that helps you. You could also change the pitch speed slider to make it easier for you. I personally like to adjust the sliders as I go so I can make my prospect gain points faster since I want my guys to be super prospects while still making each level slightly harder than the previous.

What skill level are you on? I remember mashing in AA and hitting around .250 in AAA. But then I dropped it down to Rookie for RTTS and Then I started hitting around .310-.315 in AAA.

Also Maybe lower the Pitch speed so it's easier to adjust to.

I'm sure it's been mentioned and talked about before, but I hate some of the lineups thrown out by the manager in RTTS.

For instance, I play as a pitcher for the Mets and this is the lineup I recently saw.

                  Jose Reyes
                  David Wright
                  Rod Barajas...WTF??
                  Ike Davis
                  Josh Thole
                  Angel Pagan
                  Daniel Murphy
                  B.J. Upton

My regular lineup vs. RHP (no DH since I'm NL, obviously)

                  Jose Reyes
                  David Wright
                  Ike Davis
                  Jason Bay
                  Angel Pagan
                  Daniel Murphy
                  Josh Thole
                  B.J. Upton

I wish they'd move David Wright down to the 3-hole and Upton up to 2nd or 4th behind Wright. Then just slide everyone else down a spot. Upton is hitting .295 with 16 HR, 62 RBI and 28 SBs, and he's hitting in the 8th spot against righties.

                  vs. LHP

                  Jose Reyes
                  David Wright
                  Ike Davis
                  Jason Bay
                  Magglio Ordonez
                  B.J Upton
                  Josh Thole
                  Daniel Murphy

I like that lineup better, but I wish Wright (.304/.388/.429 18 HR, 48 RBI, 13 SB's) was hitting 3rd and Upton was higher than 6th. I so wish you could control the lineups in RTTS.

Ike Davis is having a good year (.278/.356/.503, 15 HR, 51 RBI) but I'd prefer to have him hitting cleanup and Bay in the 5th spot.

I learned hitting in RTTS is very tough because you start off with such low contact and power ratings and only 300 training points before your first game. I really struggled in the first 15-20 games of the season as a reserve hitting below .200. I adjusted some things, bumped hitting down to Rookie, and started mashing. I've been a starter for about 30 games now, and I'm hitting around .375 in that time with 4 HR and 30 RBI.

Something I've NEVER been able to understand. Why does the CPU bunt with 4, 5, 6 run leads?

And doesn't bunt in tight games... This game is great, but there are plenty of holes.

I don't think this is a bug so I am not posting it there, but does anyone feel that a little e-mail may be warranted when you make it to the bigs?

I was stuck in the minors for two agonizing seasons constantly being told they didn't have room for me on the the 40 man despite me leading the league in every category. I was so good, after my first year in AA, they signed me for two years worth 4 Mil.

So at the end of year two, the ace of the AAA club, I advance to offseason. No e-mail suggesting that I am being promoted or anything.

I got an e-mail saying Congratulations, you lead the league in EVER single category.

Then, Spring comes and I am not really ticked because I thought I didn't get the invite. I was about to End Spring Training and start my grueling 3rd year in the minors when just for the heck of it, I clicked "Play next appearance" and the next thing I know, I am the ace of the MLB club starting the first game of Spring Training.

Anyone else think we could use a little graphic in there celebrating your call up? Or at the very least, I tiny notification saying congrats, you are getting the nod. Something.

Made the club out of Spring Training, after being ranked #1 in the organization and AAA after my first year. The Pads traded away Orlando Hudson midway through 2011, allowing me to easily rise up the organization.

I love being in the MLB, it is so, so, so much better.

Started over my LF, near the end of my first year and this guy has been on fire. Tore it up in AA and got called up to AAA a week before the AA all star game (missed those 200 points ), was able to get a hit in all but 3 games and had a 33 game hitting streak before the final week and lost it in a game that featured 2 great diving catches from the CF.

My guys on fire, goes into the AAA playoffs with a .412 average, and I don't even get a hit until the 4th game lol. 0-12 the first 3 games and the third one ended with me hitting into a triple play. Deffinately harder batting against better AAA teams with good pitchers. Finally broke the drought with a HR but looks like my Durham Bulls are going to be going home early.

My guys the #2 LF in the Rays, where the #1 is a AAA guy on the DL for 3 more months and #3 MLB guy who sucks. Hopefully I can get at least bench duties and make the show next season.

Good luck!!! This game is really strict, although you may have better luck with a LF.

I was the best reliever in AA. I sent 3 e-mails saying I had what it takes. I got a response of "fine, we will give you a shot but you better not let us down." I went on to be the ace of the AAA club my first year. I was voted into the Futures game and the All Star game my first year.

End of season one comes and not invite to spring and they immediately offer me a 1 year deal worth $1.2 million. I countered with a 2 year deal worth $4 million and they accepted. I went on to be the number one pitcher in all of AAA baseball. My overall rating was higher than their ace in MLB. I met 100% of my advancement goals every time and kept getting denied a roster spot.

Every time it was the same response. "You're ready but we cannot afford to risk someone to waivers, keep at it kid." I went on to lead the league in every category, Futures start again, All Star start again blah blah blah.

It wasn't until the end of my second year in AAA that I got the spring invite. Of course, I am on a role to be the Cy Young Winner and Rookie of the Year and only making $2 mil on the season. BUT, that puts me in a position to make the big bucks next season.

So, all of that means that I believe that the game has a VERY strict rule of keeping you in the minors for AT LEAST two years. If you are mediocre, you could be playing AAA ball for 5 or 6 until you are really tearing it up...

Like I said, though, outfielders may have an easier ride than pitchers, I don't know. But I would plan on being in the minors for another year and if you do get the call, consider yourself lucky.
