Depends on how quickly you want to get to the majors. If you want to spend the money, I'd say no more than 10 should get you what you need for a hitter.

started 2 separate RTTS, one as randy johnson and one as barry bonds. when i created barry bonds i pushed his sliders all the way over for strength and power lol

Hey guys. I have been reading through this thread for a while and have decided to get involved. I recently finally bought a PS3 and the show after 4 years of disappointment with 2k. I am loving it. Anyway I have created a Closer as I am new to the show and cannot hit very well. I throw a sinker, 2-seam (Redundant I know), circle change, and slider for my strike out pitch. I got drafted by the Reds and was almost instantly traded 1 month into the season to the Dodgers. (Die hard Giants fan). The highlight was probably being chosen for the AA all star game because I sat as the set-up man for the whole season. Anyway I just finished my first season in AA. I started off the season dominating, but the last few months I gave up more hits than I would have liked. I finished up the season with a 3-2 record 2 saves, 1.84 era 12 holds, 62 hits and 15 er in 73.1 Ip. No a bad season but we finished 2nd in the standing. Anyway hope to get to AAA closer by next season.

On a side note Granderson and Dominic Brown retired because of injury.

Hey guys. Just got a PS3 and MLB 11 The Show for Christmas and had a quick question. Just curious on average, how long it takes to go from AA to AAA and then from AAA to the MLB.

Depends on how well you play (and to a lesser extent, your competitions). If you play at a right difficulty level for you, probably a year each at AA and AAA.... just a rough estimate.

play well, make smart plays, put up good numbers and do all of your advancement goals and you should see the majors by september of your 2nd year when rosters are expanded. it also depends on the people in front of you and their ratings.

So I ended up getting called up to AAA in early May of my 1st season. It was only due to injuries and I'll probably end up getting sent back down however.

Lucky you. To keep your status, you do need to pay attention to all these advancement goals. For each advancement goal set, you only need to satisfy a majority (e.g., 3 out of 4 typically) and as long as you avoid getting warning more than three times in a row, you at least won't be likely to get demoted. Just a tip...

I haven't failed any of my advancement goals yet so hopefully I can keep it up and stay in AAA.

Another thing.... is that your competitions do matter. And when comparing players, the game tends to use the overall rating (OVR, which must be very low so early in your career) and the actually performance to a lesser extent.

So sometimes just doing your best wouldn't be enough to stay at a level, if your competition is seen as a better player at the moment. I bet when your competition recovers from the injury, you probably will get demoted regardless of your performance. Just my guess.... but that does happen to young players in real life. Frustration is something you should learn to enjoy in RTTS. :P

Yeah, kind of expecting to get sent back down once the injured player returns . Just hoping it isn't for a while.

so i made a kenny powers RTTS as a closer, he got drafted by the giants, traded to the nationals, traded to the dodgers, played 1 year in the majors with them, re-signed then got traded to the rays. they have cleaned shop, they traded longoria for a package of players (including me), they re-signed david price then traded him to the cardinals for dan haren. they also traded hellickson and shields. this is going to be a rough season hopefully i can get traded again lol
