Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Got a question...
What does the contact attirubute do? Does it incrase your chances of hitting the ball with a contact swing only? or does it have anything to do with using a normal swing or power swing also?
I've mainly been increasing my power and vision in order to become a better hitter.
Let me know, thanks.Comment

Hot streaks and cold streaks still generally own this mode. When things are going well, you can do practically anything and still get a hit...when things are going bad, goodluck.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Huge bitching post coming through:
The trades and free agent signings are ridiculous. The Red Sox in 2011 traded Carl Crawford for Josh Hamilton straight up (why?), traded for Jose Reyes (and I'm assuming gave up at least Ellsbury and Bard for him) only to have him walk at the end of the year.
Speaking of walking, Adrian Gonzalez, the guy they traded probably their best prospect for last year, they let him walk after they won the World Series to the Athletics for (get ready for it...)
7 Years/79.9 Million dollars.
That's just the tip of the iceberg, there were tons of other absolutely ridiculous transactions. I don't mind too much, but it was a little annoying to see how unrealistic it was.
The batting points system is great, except for when I hit a leadoff double down the line, and only get (OK - 6 pts) because it was a ground ball. Like, wtf? It's a hit, and an extra base hit at that. That should be an automatic good-17 points every time.
And here is the worst:
The RANDOM sittings. My team squeaked into the wildcard in my 1st year in AA. I was the cleanup hitter all year, finished 5th in AA in Average, 2nd in HRs (only to the guy hitting in front of me), and 1st in RBI. And I GET BENCHED for the 1st game of the playoffs. We lose, obviously. It wasn't because I stole and got caught, I had no mail, I got all my Advancement goals, it was just completely random and inexcusable. You'd think that would be where it ended, but nope.
After hitting .400 in the series with 3 RBI, we took it to game 5, where, again, I was benched, and of course we lose. That really annoyed me. No explanation, nothing. I was one of the best hitters, if not the best hitter in the league in the regular season, and I was having one of the best playoffs on the team, and I get sat in the deciding game. Idiotic, ridiculous, stupid, jfoiweajfiowjwefjw2a89jf230u09823.
My durability is 60, I made sure to put lots of points into that so I wouldn't have to sit a lot of games. That is absolutely insane the way I was handled in that series, hopefully nothing like that happens when I get to the big leagues.
I can deal with stupid, fantasy transactions all day. Whatever, that's fine. And I understand players need rest over the course of a season, so there will be games I'll have to sit until my durability is higher. But when I'm getting benched for no reason, and in the playoffs no less, it ruins the game for me and if it continues into the majors I'm not even going to bother with RTTS anymore.
I really hope it doesn't, I haven't had one year of The Show where I've been able to follow through on RTTS. I started in 08, and I couldn't do it because I sucked so bad, so I just stuck to Franchise. 09 was the RTTS Crash, which might be the worst glitch in any video game I've ever played and made me stop playing the game altogether, and I skipped out on last year because I had other things I had going on and the RTTS Crash still pissed me off. I really hope nothing like that happens this year because I've had a great time with the game so far.
On the bright side, I just got promoted to AAA after the first 10 or so games of Year 2! I'm 3/9 with 2 RBI so far. I was actually starting off the year pretty slow in AA, I hit all my advancement goals but I wasn't doing too great and I was actually in a little slump when I got called up. That ended quickly, I think it's because I know I'm facing tougher pitching I focus more on each pitch.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Well after a few tweaks of the pitch speed slider, I'm finally hitting my stride in the game. I have a five game hitting streak going
Here's my stats through 16 Games:
64AB 22H .344AVG 1HR 10RBI 13B 92B .563SLG .338OBP
I'm gettting better swings off, the timing factor really helped me. Now it looks like I may be able to have some fun with this game.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Noticed something while using the PCI. My L Contact and R contact are = and i am a switch hitter now but for some right handed pitchers my pci is smaller while other right handed pitchers it is bigger. Is this because of my vision or is it because of the pitchers rating decreasing my PCI size.
I am baffled by this and have never noticed it before. I noticed it while in the Majors cause i was so terrible. Its weird when i play an exhibition game i hit fine yet in RTTS in the Majors i really struggle.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
This is not groundbreaking or anything, just kind of funny. I was drafted by Toronto and made it to their triple a team the 51's. I was then traded to the Whitesox triple a team the Knights. Then the first game of a series playing the Durham Bulls the triple a team of the Rays I was traded to the Rays. So I just moved dugouts and instantly played my old team. That was fun. Then I finally make to the majors with Rays. My first start as the starting right fielder was against the team that drafted me the Blue Jays. Then I proceed to make them pay by hitting my first career home run against them in Toronto. It took me into my fourth year to make to the majors and be named the starter.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I finished up my first season and was very satisfied with my performance at both the AA and AAA Levels for my first year player.
I made the Minor League All Star Team for AA Richmond Flying Squirrels, then got called up to AAA Fresno Grizzlies late in the season and made a good impact for my team.
When the 2nd season began, I was awarded a new 2 year contract for 290k, I was a bench player for about 10 games in season 2 in AAA, and after hitting all my advancement goals was promoted to every day starter at 1B.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Hit and run goals are still horribly broken.
On base, if I am told a hit and run is on and the batter fails to make contact, I get a warning for stealing regardless if I am out or safe. This eventually leads to getting benched. Dumb.
At the plate, if a hit and run is on and I fail to make contact....the hit and run stays on throughout the at-bat. So if I fail to make contact and the guy on first steals second, he goes to third on the next pitch. If there is no contact and he steals second...he's coming home on the next pitch. Doubly dumb.Comment

I haven't seen this. I've only seen that the hit and run is on the first pitch, not any subsequent pitches. I've never seen the baserunner steal past the 1st pitch.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I know some people have mentioned stupid trades.
I had one. As the starting AAA 1B in the Braves system, the team traded for Travis Hafner. Hafner is a decent hitter, but he hasn't played a game at first base since 2007. Made no sense.
Regardless, I got traded to the Blue Jays and have been lighting it up since lol.Moose

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I hate the 6 year rule. I don't want to play for the team, don't make me sign or go to arbitration I want to be a free agent. Allow me to yell at my team and tell them I don't want to play for them and to let me go or trade me, hate this.Comment
