Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

quick question. when i get the game i want to create a POWER hitting 1B, with the new RTTS setup mode, i can do that... its different then last year?

same with pitcher... i can choose a power/contact Pitcher, or a Power/contact hitter right? thats one of the main differences from last year?

Picked up the game on my way home and am about to fool around with RTTS. I'd love to post some impressions for you guys, but even though it is technically Tuesday, I'm not sure I'm allowed. I don't see any mods logged in right now, so I can't get an OK.

I absolutely love the new points system, when batting you receive the acknowledgment that you should. I crushed a ball up the middle to have it get robbed by the SS, but still received a good at bad and a good amount of points.

Working the count actually means something this year too, its amazing.

My closer just got traded to the Astros and had a game where the infield made 3 "errors" that should have been easy outs but were scored hits, including two dropped balls and a guy letting a ball go between his legs. Guess I'll have to strike out literally everyone.

Instead of CREATING someone in RTTS, can you just take control of a current Minor Leaguer?

I really wanna rep some Cal State Fullerton
            No you can not.

But you can always create your player as said minor leaguer.

Got rewarded (Good at-bat and 15 points) for working the count 2-2 and hitting an absolute rocket right at the 3rd baseman. Would have been nothing more than a "failed" last year for most goals, so I'm pretty happy to see that.

My game arrived a little earlier and jumped right into RTTS, I have say they have done an amazing job with it from my experiences so far.
I created a contact hitting, sure gloved, speedyish shortstop. I got drafted by the yankees and after 3 quarters of April spent as a bench player, I am still struggling to hit and really enjoying the less pressure on me to complete goals and hit every ball out of the park to get points.

As for buying points, I'm doing the same thing I did last year. I buy points to put into durability. It's ridiculous that an 18 year old minor league player cannot play 3 games in a row.

First game....first AB screaming double over right fielders head that probably would have been caught last year. Second AB.. 484 ft HR. Good game so far.

The lack of points gained during simming is really annoying me now, I want to speed-up my Minor League stints but with the lack of simmed points I'm having to play every game and its getting tiresome.

Yea I think I am going to buy some training points tonight to spread around. Maybe boost my contact and power by a little, I have pretty good contact all ready, i made myself a speedy lead off SS. I will probably put most of my bought training points into, speed, base running ability, a few in drag bunting, and arm strength. I hate when I'm a SS and i get a routine ground ball but can't make the play because my arm is so weak lol

What are the max starting stats? Say if you choose to be a power hitter, are you still only rated a 45 or whatever it was last year?

I just tried creating a left-handed 1B with full strength and power sliders and got:

                              RT Power 62
                              LT Power 58
                              RT Contact 27
                              LT Contact 23

And that's before the 5 points you can add to it with your remaining points. So...yeah, you can certainly make some different players this year.

Also - you won't get those same numbers if you go with, say, a SS - the game takes position into account for the initial calculation. In other words, I got 41 RPOW and 39 LPOW for the same sliders, but with a SS.

Whew, I was worried all it would do was give us a slightly skewed version of the points they gave us last year (aka max 40-45 at creation). I can't wait to play tonight, I should have taken the day off work.
