I am currently 44-39 with the Pittsburgh PiratesLyle Overbay is out for the season. Steven Pearce is playing 1B now. Tabata was out for a month or 2. Called up Alex Presley in his place.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
I'm playing with PIT too. I can never bat with McCutchen or Tabata, so I traded them and Jeff Clement for Josh Hamilton. They save some cap space and get 2 young players who have great potential (but McCutcthen is already good, so it's not "rebuilding"), and a filler in Clement. Even though I'm not in a win-now mode currently, I want to try and sign 1-2 good FAs and try and nab another top SP through a trade, giving me somewhat of a chance to develop a good team before Hamilton retires. I'm going to try and sign him through 2016 (he'll be 35), so hopefully I can improve a lot in those 5 years.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Don't you love it when you have one of those reslly, really memorable moments - despite playing this game for countless hours over the past few years?
I've been having a really hard time scoring with my Dodgers lately.
Playing the Diamondbacks at home, locked at 1-1 in the bottom of the 14th. They get a pop out, then I knock a one-out double to left with Navarro. Next guy to bat is Jonathan Broxton (who was throwing absolute heat), so I really didn't want to pull him. I made the decision to keep him in and look at some pitches. if I went out, I'd try to score with Furcal.
Count goes 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 and I'm thinking "wow, he's gonna walk me" - then 3-1 and 3-2. The payoff pitch was in the zone, so I had a swing and knocked it to left field. Navarro crossed to win on BROXTON's game winning RBI!!Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Ive been struggling for homers recently until todays 6-5 win in Oakland.
I hit 4 blasts with Ryan Raburn helping himself to 3, and 2 were absolute bombs, 450ft, even in that massive ballpark.
8-7 now, rolling
White Sox at 10-5 lead the way.Comment

I had something funny happen with the A's in my 30 team sim dynasty. I was checking their various emails when I read fans thought the price of hot tub tickets was too high. I was going to lower it, until I realized the A's didn't have a hot tub installed!LOL.I installed one and lowered the price.Comment

I just had one of the craziest games I've ever played on The Show. At home vs. the Yankees, they tagged Coke for 3 runs in the 1st. We managed to battle back to tie it with single runs in the 3rd, 5th and 6th innings. The Yankees then managed to get Villareal for 4 more before I could get the pen ready. We did manage to score 2 and get the tying run to the plate before they brought in Rivera, who got Inge to fly out to CF. Now the crazy part, the Yankees had 6 errors! 2 by Jeter (1 fielding, 1 throwing) 2 by Martin (both on throws to first after Ks), 1 on A-Rod (throwing), and 1 on Texeira (throwing, after Jeter overthrew him) - I've never seen the CPU play that bad of defense. This still managed to beat me tho, LOL.
Edit: WTH, countryboy was banned?!

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
I just finished up the month of April in my Phillies franchise. I play one game a day to match up with the real season. I also do all the real injuries and transactions that happen every day for every team.
I finished April with a 16-11 record in first place in the NL East a half game ahead of the second place Braves.
April was a pretty tough month for me even though I have a winning record. I never scored more than 6 runs in a game, and I only scored 6 runs one time and that was in the first week of the season. All 26 other games were 5 runs or less. For the month the team scored 90 runs and only allowed 73 runs.
My pitching has been incredible. Team ERA of 2.46 for the month.
Starter's combined ERA was 2.47.
Bullpen's combined ERA was 2.23.
Roy Halladay: 4-0, 1.13 ERA, 3 CG, 3 SHO, 48 IP, 49 K,
Cliff Lee: 3-2, 2.48 ERA, 2 CG, 1 SHO, 36.1 IP, 33 K
Roy Oswalt: 2-2, 3.90 ERA, 30 IP, 28 K
Cole Hamels: 1-1, 2.12 ERA, 1 CG, 1 SHO, 34 IP, 23 K
Joe Blanton: 1-1, 4.24 ERA, 23.1 IP, 13 K
It has been really difficult to get a consistent offensive attack going game-to-game. The last game of April I only managed 6 hits and 4 runs and most of that came in the 4th inning.
Here's how my position players and bench fared for the month of April.
Shane Victorino: .185 avg, 20 hits, 1 home run, 3 RBI
Placido Polanco: .186 avg, 19 hits, 3 home runs, 7 RBI
Jimmy Rollins: .220 avg, 22 hits, 0 home runs, 10 RBI
Ryan Howard: .291 avg, 30 hits, 8 home runs, 19 RBI
Ben Francisco: .242 avg, 23 hits, 4 home runs, 11 RBI
Raul Ibanez: .215 avg, 17 hits, 1 home run, 6 RBI
Carlos Ruiz: .295 avg, 18 hits, 1 home run, 8 RBI
Wilson Valdez: .161 avg, 9 hits, 5 RBI
John Mayberry Jr: .371 avg, 13 hits, 4 home runs, 11 RBI
Pete Orr: .176 avg, 6 hits, 0 home runs, 0 RBI
Brian Schneider: .267 avg, 8 hits, 0 home runs, 2 RBI
Ross Gload: .292 avg, 7 hits, 1 home run, 3 RBI
Michael Martinez: .182 avg, 4 hits, 0 home runs, 0 RBI
I'm really hoping I can get more offense going in the next month or so. If not, this season is going to end up being all about pitching with not a lot of runs scored. I guess in a way it plays into real life in that the Phillies haven't been scoring a lot of runs this season so far. They did score 10 runs against the Mets last night. Wish I had that happen in the game. I lost that game 3-0 in The Show. Haha.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Through the first twenty games of my Blue Jays franchise, I've been struggling a bit, only 7-13 so far. Jose Bautista has been great for me, already having 8 home runs and 17 RBI. Kyle Drabek is also playing well. He's 2-1 with an ERA in the 3s if I remember correctly. Some letdowns have been Ricky Romero, who's 1-3 with a very high ERA, and Rajai Davis, who has been getting some steals but not on base enough to utilize his speed.Edmonton Oilers Fan

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
yeah I agree. I need some "washed up" All-star in my bench ala Chavez/Andruw Jones.
Best choice in the free agency is Fukudome,Burell and Uribe in that category. Maybe I'll go for Fukudome and ditch Duncan cuz I need Dickerson for pinch runningComment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
At the end of April with the Royals and doing pretty good for being the Royals. Rookie, Mike Moustakas is the real deal. If using the OS Spring roster and need a 3B/DH you need to take a good look at this guy. He is worth whatever you got to give up for him! He has played every game and has 40 some % of my teams home runs. Leads in walks, average, home runs and RBI's and runs and is near the top of MLB in each category. My pitching has been stellar leading the MLB in many categories, but at the bottom of most of the hitting categories, but has been hitting much better the last few games. I love playing with the team. Mainly because of the ex-brewers from the Greinke trade and all the great young guys and average MLB now guys I have to weed through. I do a franchise report, but it's only being posted at DSS.
