One interesting thing that happened in my franchise last night...I made a few trade offers and simmed ahead to see if they would be accepted, and both times I did that Molina got hurt in the first game against the Mariners and had to go on the DL. When I went back and actually played that game, Molina got injured on a collision at the plate, and is now on the DL. It's very weird that he would get hurt 3 times on that date.

I have seen stuff like this happen before, but not against me fortunately. I think that once certain events become scripted, there is no way around them. It makes it easier for me to use my simmed fortune telling abilities though.

I just over copied and accidentally deleted my orioles franchise in which i was in August in second place and leading the wild card race which I have been working on since March. I overcompensated by throwing my controller across the room and putting a whole into my wall from slamming a door. I feel better now.

Ouch! I have at least 5 saves per season. Since this is the only game I play, I figure it won't hurt to have way more saves than I possibly need.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

I just played one of my most fun, and rewarding games I have played.

I have been absolutely dominating this season with my Tigers, going 48-11 (before you rag on me about difficulty level, I am now playing on Legend pitching, and Hall of Fame hitting, because I just cannot hit on Legend). I was facing the White Sox today, with Brad Penny going against Edwin Jackson. Both pitchers came into the game with 5 wins, and respectable ERA's. The game time conditions were about 60 degrees, and a stiff 19 mile an hour wind blowing straight out to Center.

I jumped out to a 9-0 lead after the top of the 6th inning. Kyle Dutcher (I create myself every year, this year at catcher) and Brandon Inge both had two HR's Ryan Raburn had a 3 run Home Run.

Even with a 9-0 lead, I didn't feel safe, with that wind blowing out. Rightfully so.

Chicago got 3 in the bottom of the 6th off of Penny. Two more in the 7th, before I took out Penny for Brad Thomas, who got out of the inning. With a couple lefties leading off the 8th, I left Thomas in. Big mistake. Thomas gave up two hits....so I bring in Ryan Perry. A couple hits later, and it is 9-7 with a runner on second. I walk A.J. Pierzynski to face Carlos Quentin (the right baseball move, playing the percentages). BAM 3 run home run, and I'm down 10-9.

To the top of the 9th. Brian Bruney comes in and strikes out Dutcher. 1 out. Then, Matt Thornton comes in, and strikes out Miguel Cabrera. 2 outs. Next batter, Magglio Ordonez....quick 0-2 count..down to my last strike. Next pitch, and Ordonez lifts a wind aided long flyball to left...Juan Pierre leaps and......HE WON'T GET IT it's gone!!!!!! Tie game 10-10. Next Batter Victor Martinez...first pitch CRACK!!!!! deep drive to left center.....GONE!!!!! Tigers back up 11-10. Jose Valverde closes it out in the 9th for his 26th save of the season.

This game was rewarding on a couple fronts. First, I didn't let the Sox comeback get to me, I hung in, and pulled out a win. Second, I think Brandon Inge is finally breaking out of his 2 month slump (.202 average, 4 HR 13 RBI coming into the game) with a 4-4 2 HR 4 RBI night.

MAN, I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!

It might be the right move in the game, but in real life no manager is walking AJ to face Quentin.

Yep...that's what I do...I "leapfrog" saves.
Rosters and franchise saves....

Okay....here is my "case" for independent injury and fatigue attributes(instead of the combined durability attribute in place now)...and I would LOVE it to go further than that to injury attributes for arms/legs independently also!

I'm a little over a month into my franchise with the N.Y. Mets. It's not as dismal as the real N.Y. Mets season and maybe I've got a chance at the W.C. down the stretch...but I really need a SP to hold me in until Santana gets back....Pelf and Niese are on/off and Cap/Young have been pretty steady. I've got Izzy setting up and I KNOW he can do as good if not a better job than Rodriguez and I can't stand K-Rod...I want to move him.
Here is where the attribute would come into play. As it stands now...I don't have a REAL sense of urgency in thinking that Izzy might not hold up. I'll make a deal with K-Rod and a prospect for a SP and not look back.
I SHOULD have to really think...."this guys arm could fall off at any moment".

Count me as another with multiple saves (around 5) for my franchise. I always save over the oldest one, that way if something happens to my file I've lost 1 or 2 games at the most.

On the PS2, I once saved an RTTS over my one and only franchise save. I have never played a game of RTTS since.

Tyson Ross got his first start of the season, filling in for Gio, against the Rangers. He managed to give up 5 earned in only 2.2 innings and threw over 75 pitches. I took him out and gave Drabek a shot. He got out of the inning with a beautiful diving stop by my second baseman, Paxton. Unfortunately, Paxton pulled a hami or something and had to be replace with my prospect Alonso. I pitched really well for a couple of innings with Drabek, but did give up two solo shots. In both Ross's and Drabek's defense, the wind was blowing out at 19mph. Dunn hit his 498th home run. At about the 7th inning, I brought in all my bench players and simmed ahead since I was getting bored and decided to go for a run in the nice weather. I somehow managed to come from behind and win the game and Alonso got his first major league home run. I would have liked to have been a part of that, but I have already witnessed it a few times so no big deal. Paxton goes on the 15 day DL and I brought up Ian Krol. I am going to give him Greinke's next start to see what he is made of.

Hochevar did not pitch well in his return to the AL. He gave up 5 runs on 11 hits in only 5 innings, and even the outs were hit hard. Pujols hit a 450 foot bomb, and another home run by Craig made it 5-2. We chased Rowland-Smith from the game by scoring 2 in the top of the 7th, but Boggs and Sanchez gave 3 up in the bottom of the 7th. We threatened in the 8th and 9th, but left the tying run on 2nd as we lost 8-7.

After the game both Boggs and Sanchez were optioned to AAA. I called up my AAA closer, Francisco Samuel to fill the middle relief void until McClellan comes off the DL, and PJ Walters will be long relief, at least for now.

So got to June 1 and went through the draft on 30 person control. I followed a strategy of only scouting infielders with the bar half full, outfielders half full after that, and then closers. There were 3 A potential prospects in the draft-I drafted a Sure thing A potential catcher, the Cubs drafted a A potential first baseman, and the Tigers drafted a A potential closer. I was also able to draft several other infielders with B potential, so I'll focus on outfielders next year. The bug is still in where drafted players remain on scout list, so I'll have to make a note of the drafted players so they're not scouted twice.

I gave Ian Krol his first start. His control was just terrible. I love his 95 mph fastball, but he just couldn't hit anything with it. he only has two other pitches, a curve and a change, both of which were as wild as his fastball. He is only 23, so hopefully he will develop control, but I don't think he is quite ready for the bigs. I will make sure to send him down first. His line wasn't terrible, pitching 5 innings, 4 hits, 6 walks, 1K and 4 ER, but it was also against a really weak Seattle lineup. Ironically, he gave up a two run blast to their stud catcher, Max Stassi. I knew I would regret trading him away. Score tied 4 all, I brought in Ross and he kept up his part keeping the score as is. I think he may have found a home in the bull pen, especially considering how depleted it will be next year. Dunn belted a solo shot, his 499th, to go ahead by a run. Soria, Fuentes, and Bailey all did their part to get us the win.

The Diamondbacks just placed Gerardo Parra on waivers. I am wondering if I should snatch him up. He is in the final year of a 4 year deal, so I might not be able to re-sign him. He would only cost around $500K and might give me some additional speed until Paxton comes back, but my outfield is also pretty full right now. Decisions, decisions.

I agree with you...though, in the game, Pierzynski was hitting over .300, and Quentin was hitting .242 with little power, and I had a righty on the mound, and my other lefty in the bullpen wasn't available due to fatigue.
