Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Brian McCann started out hitting .182 with just one homerun all of April in the first year of my franchise. In May he hit over .400 with 12 homeruns that month alone. You don't determine hot/cold streaks after 15 plate appearances.ST. LOUIS RAMS FRANCHISE (MADDEN 2010)

Generally, it's better to wait. But seriously, how long does it take to realize the Mariners have no one in their lineup?Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Holy balls some offense from Seattle. After coming home 3-3 with a lack of offensive production, the Indians didn't seem to help anything. Although we took two of three from them, the highest run total for us was three. We scored three again to beat the Jays and then exploded for five runs and another win to make us 7-4. Justin Smoak has four homeruns and nine RBIs and the team has an ERA just under 2.00.
I went out and got Jason Kubel after Rangers series for an A Prospect. The prospect was a 2B and I have Ackley for that, so I let him go, even though he was rated highly. So far, he has homered twice, threw out two runners trying to score and led the team offensively. A great pickup. Nothing like home cooking.EPL - Arsenal

Game #5: @ Boston, Crow v. Matsuzaka
Well, I was a little worried about giving Crow a spot in the rotation (rather than Vin Mazzaro or Kyle Davies), but he proved his worth in this game. Complete game shutout, allowing just 5 hits (and then inducing 3 double plays - and another was thrown out trying for a triple), facing just one over the minimum. Oh, and no walks, 8K's. Easily the best game I've ever pitched in The Show series (and second best ever - I pitched a perfect game with Kevin Brown back in MVP 04).
The offense is clicking, and Boston seems entirely unable to perform under pressure, or hit with RISP.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Well, I managed to sweep the Blue Jays and move back into first place with a 7-4 record. I offense really came alive in the first inning against Brandon Morrow after the Jays scored two off of Jason Vargas. I basically singled home three runs and managed two more in the later stages for a 5-2 win. Ichiro is still struggling and Smoak is still on fire. Good news is that Jason Kubel, who I got in a trade, is the hottest hitter in the MLB with a .400 average so far. Talk about the greatest trade.
Now I head to Kansas City for a few games. Should win at least two but we shall see. The road has not been kind to us.EPL - Arsenal

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Mets update: After a great run after the all-star break, I went into a slump. For some reason, I am unable to beat those pesky Padres. I split a 4 game series and then got swept by them. My hitting remains inconsistent, Wright is still hovering around .230 and Bill Hall has finally fell back down to earth. Despite his defensive shortcomings, it might be time to start Murph.
My pitching remains strong, tho I am definitley not tendering Pelf a contract in the offseason.
I am currently tied for first with the Braves, as I am about to welcome them back to Queens. Should be a fun series!
Transactions: Varitek went bonkers after the trade, so I shipped Paulino out for a "B" level prospect. I had no use for two veteran catchers, and I am trying to rebuild the Mets farm. I also picked up Mike Carp and Brandon Laird off of waivers.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Detroit came too town and at first, I was a bit scared that the series might not go the Mariners way. High powered offenses don't usually equal wins, as the M's offense is weak to say the least. It showed in game one, as Jason Vargas was roughed up and we lost 7-3. This was our second loss at home, the only other being to Cleveland.
Bedard was scheduled to throw game two, but he was injured during warm ups, so I pushed Michael Pineda up and good thing, he went 8.1 innings, no runs and four hits. Shame he was around 107 pitches or he would have finished it up. Bedard will start game three.EPL - Arsenal
