Started my proper franchise with the Giants, first one was only a test run! I'm currently 13-9 and on top of my division. I just beat the Braves 2-1 in a 3 game series at home. First game I finally got my offense to show up and I won 6-0 behind 7 innings of shutout ball by Bumgarner, game 2 I lost 2-0 Tommy Hanson had the complete game shut out and Zito had 7 solid innings but Dan Uggla jumped on a fast ball mistake by Zito and smoked one to left field after Zito walked the lead off hitter. Game 3 was Lincecum vs Lowe and it was exactly that! Both pitchers dominated till the 8th until Lowe pitched a fast ball inside to Cody Ross (who was on a cold streak) and Ross belted a home run to left field. Wilson came in for the save and the 2-1 series win. Next up I'm taking my annoyingly hot and cold offense to Pittsburgh with Cain on the mound for game 1 of the series.

Struggling mightily with the Nats. I have 6 starting guys on the DL(werth, ryan zimmerman, espinoza, clippard, storen, and lannan) while ian desmond is out for a few days. Currently 13-20 in my franchise and am 8 GB. I have a triple-a team out there right now and cannot generate enough runs. It is really fun though and am enjoying the challenge.Angels= 2025 World Series Champions!!Comment

THE PHILLIES? St. Louis? Completely opposite in my dynasty...Redbirds are giving me a tough race in the NL Central. Phillies are unstoppable too. It's me (Pirates), Cubs, and Brewers battling it out for the 2-3-4 spots. I'm currently 4.5 games out of first with a record of 40-32. On a six game winning streak.
Also a question for you, did you have any big moves that occurred throughout the season? Just curious.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Just like IRL, my Pirates have reached the All-Star Break....The record currently sits at 58-34, 1GB of STL...I have a team BA of .271 and a team ERA at 3.48...Garrett Jones leads my power department with 20 HR's.....i have 6 guys in double-digits for homers and nobody has more then 48 rbi's....Maholm, Ohlendorf, and McDonald have 9 wins each and none of their ERA's tops 3.17...I'm THIS close to getting rid of my *ace* Correia whose 5-4 with a 4.59....My bullpen's being anchored by Resop with a 4-0 1.49 and Moskos with a 1-2 but a respectable 2.41...Surprisingly, my setup guy Meek and closer, Hanrahan, each have close to 4 and a half era's which isn't acceptable....can't get on hanrahan too much as he leads the majors with 37 saves
(I'll list the starting rotation of the season also)
James McDonald
Kevin Correia
Paul Maholm
Ross Ohlendorf
Charlie Morton
Cesar Valdez
Jeff Locke
Brad Lincoln
Rudy Owens
Jeff Karstens
Daniel McCutchen
11? 11 pitchers...terrible. Finally in the past 6 or so games, my pitching has came around. I finally thing I have a set rotation.
James McDonald - with an impressive 9-1.
Ross Ohlendorf - 6-4, had a perfect game on May 12
Cesar Valdez - 0-0, he has only had 2 starts, both were quality outings, run support was a disgrace.
Kevin Corriea - 4-4. Disappointing, but hes been coming around.
Paul Maholm - 2-5, released him early May, after he started 0-5. Things got hectic so I picked him back up haha. Since then he's 2-0. Hopefully he keeps it up.
I'm in mid June, team avg. is .282. Power guy is G.I. Jones with 25 HR and 50 RBIs
Just suffered a terrible injury. Jose Tabata was batting .297 with 7 homers, 35+ rbis. Now he's out for 6 months. He was second in the all-star voting too. But since then Alex Presely has been doing FANTASTIC in his spot.
I love this franchise, haven't simmed yet. Haven't really gotten bored either, hope you guys are enjoying your franchises.Comment

"Nats bash Estrada, Brewers in 12-7 slugfest"
The Washington Nationals have tied up the series at one-game-a-piece after a 12-7 beatdown on the Milwaukee Brewers, mainly behind the bat of Jayson Werth. Werth, who'd been off to a pathetic start, doubled his HR count and increased his RBI count by 50% after one game and two swings. Werth homered to tie the game in the 4th and added to the large Nationals lead later in the game as him and Bernadina went back-to-back in the 7th to put the game away. Rickie Weeks led the Brewers offense with 2 HRs, one in the 9th, bringing the score to 12-7. The series finale has Brewers ace, Yovani Gallardo, facing off against Brad Peacock, who makes is ML debut.

"Braun plays hero as Brewers steal game, series in Washington, with 4-3 win."
The Brewers had the lead for the majority of the game, and lost it with one swing of the bat. But just like they lost it, they got it right back. Roger Bernadina, who's been a Brewer killer this series, homered in the 8th after Yovani Gallardo took a shutout into the inning but gave up two consecutive hits, followed by an out. First pitch to Bernadina caught too much plate and he drove it over the right-field bullpen, into the upper deck. With the momentum all in Washington's favor, a quiet Ryan Braun (0-3 on the day) stepped up to the plate and smoked a liner 429 ft to center to give the Brewers back the lead, almost as quick as they had lost it. Jonathan Lucroy provided the majority of the offense on the day, having 3 of the Brewers' 10 hits, including the 2-run homer to put the Brewers up 3-0, until Bernadina's shot in the 8th. John Axford collected his league-leading 6th save, 2nd of the series, in a fairly easy bottom half of the 10th inning. Craig Counsell got the start at shortstop with Betancourt needing a day off, after hitting a pitiful .147 on the year, and filled in well with a 2-4 day with 2 two-baggers.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
You don't seem to be having any trouble with your rotation...I wish i had guys putting up numbers like that. I've moved guys everywhere. ALL of the following pitchers have had a chance to throw because of the pitiful results from some of the original rotation members..
Haven't really gotten bored either, hope you guys are enjoying your franchises.Steelers | Seminoles | A's | Rockets | Avalanche | Wildcats, Hoosiers | LiverpoolComment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Pitching has always been my forte....It's just that Correia is not an ace however u wanna cut it...Starting 11 diff pitchers is a bit ridiculous...Like i stated before part of my success deals with me turning injuries off and having a plan when I hit the mound..One guy we both have in common is Ronald McDonald lol....Guy's always had the talent and finally he's putting it together...At least for all your trials and tribulations with ur pitching, your offense is staying the course....I'm not crying about my hitting either...Same theory applies to my pitching in wishing sometimes I wish i had a dominant bat instead of a collective balance...Losing Tabata really stinks for u.....Just win and u'll be fineComment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Thanks bro, injuries have affected me. I lost Pearce and Snyder early in the season. Pearce might not have contributed for you but he was hot for me. Snyder is just a veteran that'll always get the job done. But Jarimillo has done sensational in he place batting .300+. Plus as of late I shipped Doumit to the Bo Sox for McKenry. I also added Wood earlier in the year. Ive been trying to get Xavier Paul but LA wont give him up
Ahh i see you're tryin to keep your rosters up-to-date..I've used one set of rosters throughout and dont plan on changin..too much work with 30-team control...Actually pearce and bowker are both hitting over .300 in limited duty...no power whatsoever with either but solid line drive singles....I plug snyder in against lefties.....Not much offensive production up-to-date..may have to either give doumit the full-time position or bringing up jaramilloSteelers | Seminoles | A's | Rockets | Avalanche | Wildcats, Hoosiers | LiverpoolComment

11 game losing streak in my season with the Cubs after starting 7-4. I'm now 8-16. Tied for last in the Central. Just like my real life Cubbies, pathetic."Don't be afraid to go to number 23, he's alright."Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
It was a task but I have finally begun my franchise. I simmed up to 2014, trying to keep some form of realism for each team, mainly trying to keep most top prospects on their respective teams unless a trade mid-season made absolute sense for a playoff push.
My 2014 M's
RF Bubba Starling (He was in TOR as he was part of a deal that sent Joey Bats to KC during KC's push for the playoffs, the CPU ended up offering me Bubba for Ichiro straight up, I decided to add one of my first round picks into the deal to even it out)
2B Dustin Ackley
LF Carlos Gonzalez (Traded Michael Saunders and a minor leaguer midway through 2013. Saunders is a beast now finishing with 30 HR's last year.)
1B Justin Smoak
3B Tyler Vaughan (drafted in the first round of 2012, changed name to myself)
DH Adam Lind (FA pick-up this year)
CF Chris Young (Same as Lind)
C Thomas Montoya (A horrible first round bust)
SS Nick Franklin
Bench -
C Adam Moore, SS Brendan Ryan, CF Willie Bloomquist, LF J.Linares
Rotation -
1. Felix
2. Pineda
3. Hultzen
4. Fister
5. Paxton
Pen -
Laffey, Josh Fields, Tyler Burgoon, Dan Cortes, Fabio Castro, Evan Scribner, CP Josh Lueke
I have Tajuan Walker ready to come up to the rotation. Shopping Doug Fister and Thomas Montoya for a catcher, but may be a while before I get any offers.
I opened up at home vs TEX. Play on HOF/HOF with own sliders.
1st game: Mariners 11 - Rangers 6, Felix vs Webb
I had a big 5 run 1st and 6 run 8th for my scoring. Felix struggled mightily walking 6 and only lasing 5 innings. Chris Young made a splash in his first game for the M's, hitting a HR in his first AB and driving in 6 for the game.
2nd game: Rangers 8 - Mariners 5 10 innings, Pineda vs Martin Perez
Pineda also struggled with control walking 5 and only lasting 5 innings. Scored 2 in the bottom of the 9th to tie it up and Ackley hit a rocket down the first base line that would of won the game but was snagged by Moreland. Castro gives up a 3 run HR to Moreland in the 10th.
3rd game: Mariners 4 - Rangers 3, Hultzen vs Tanner Scheppers
Scheppers was down right nasty on me. He went 7 very strong innings, k'ing me 15 times (most I can remember striking out against a starter). Touched him up to start the 8th with Nick Franklins first career homer. Hultzen lasted 6 innings and walked 6. Down 1 in the 9th, I get a lead off walk by Lind and then Chris Young (who was 0-3 with 3 k's) gets a hanging 1-0 changeup and blasts one to the upper tank in left for the walk off.
Series Note: Mitch Moreland hit a HR in each game, including 2 in the finale. I don't know what to do with the walks I'm giving up, I already have my pitching sliders set at 9.
Will update every once in awhile and let you guys know how the youngens around the league are tearing it up. I noticed on the ticker that Welgerz had 3 HR's in the first 2 games, Brett Lawrie hit his 2nd in my last game and Gerrit Cole pitched a CG shutout with 7 K's.Last edited by ty5oke; 07-12-2011, 12:24 AM.Seattle Pilots GM (2011 - ) Record: 152 - 195

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Well. It's been a week since my season ended and I'm only just coming to terms with it.
My Dodgers put together an AMAZING second-half run to come from 10 games below .500 to win the NL West by a game from the Rockies and reach the playoffs in my first season.
I managed to handle the Reds easily enough before moving on to face the Braves for the NLCS. I led the series 3-1 and lost the finale at Turner Field to return home with a 3-2 lead. Also lost Game 6, but it was the Game 7 dagger that kills me.
Let's be frank. I didn't deserve to win after giving up a late bomb, but I rallied in the 9th. Trailing by 1 run, bases loaded, 1 out, Matt Kemp at the plate in a 2-0 count. Usually I would be taking, but I backed myself to put one in play and at least tie the game. I got a weak pitch straight down the middle which I CLUBBED... straight at Chipper Jones who turned two.
I felt sick all night after that. I am one of those people who doesn't sim a single pitch. I played EVERY SINGLE AT BAT for the season, so it was absolutely gutting to have it end like that. I haven't been able to turn my PS3 on since thenComment
