Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

I just started a Franchise with the Pirates (had a good Franchise with them in '10), and I'm loving the make-up of this young roster. My only gripe so far is their starting pitchers seem very undervalued and underrated. Many times they can't go deep into games, because they scatter so many hits, or rack up high pitch counts. However, I'm loving the young core offensively as guys like Jose Tabata, Andrew McCutchen, and Garret Jones, are really holding it down run wise. Even veterans like Overbay and Matt Diaz are producing a lot of offense.

Made two moves thus far: I picked up Tony Gwynn Jr. off waivers, and I signed Garret Atkins to a 1 year deal as I needed another guy who could play multiple INF positions, but also still had a healthy bat.

I'm now seven games into the young season and I hold a 4-3 record, placing third in the Division.

Also, I'm letting the game play out CPU vs CPU, as in my opinion it gives it a more realistic feel to the outcomes of the game.

Gl in your franchise...Like u, i'm playing with the Pirates..I love the young position players they have especially mccutchen, alvarez, and walker....Don't care too much for their rotation but im managing to hold the fort together so far through 89 games...i'm 55-34 and 2 games behind STL for 1st

How about Neil Walker on the Pirates? He always seems to be a thorn in my side playing against them

              Can someone answer this quickly.

At the end of spring traing if I "end spring training" will the CPU send down guys who didn't make the 25 man roster? Also will the transaction count against the option years of those who got demoted?

I decided to start an Atlanta Braves Franchise and see if i can fight off the Phillies and recapture the NL East crown.Braves got some very good young players and pitching to contend with now and the future. I just finished playing opening day and boy what a start to the season! The Nats were leading 4-0 with the big blow being a 2-run homer from Werth.John Lannan was dominating us and looked like it was going to be a quiet loss until the shocking 8th inning. With bases loaded and the score now 4-1, Tyler Clippard hung a 2-2 slider and Dan Uggla in his Braves debut launched it into the right field seats for a Grand Slam to put us ahead 5-4 to absolutley stun Nationals Park! Kimbrel Closed it out in the 9th. Chipper and Heyward are on the DL with injuries suffered in ST : ( Hinske and Shaefer are the replacements.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Just had one of my best innings ever. Here's the rundown..

                      Lucroy singles to center
                      Almonte doubles to center
Narveson grounds out to short, Lucroy scores
Weeks singles to right, Almonte scores
                      (Weeks steals second)
                      (Weeks is picked off)
                      Gomez singles to shortstop
                      (Gomez steals second)
Braun singles to center, Gomez scores
Fielder homers to right, Braun and Fielder score
                      McGehee walks
                      Betancourt flies out to center.

Add this onto a 2 run first and the Brewers lead 7-1 after 2 in Washington.

                        Game 14 | Brewers @ Nationals | 6-7

Brewers score early, survive late, topple Nats.

                        MIL - 250 011 000 - 9,16,1
                        WAS - 121 000 030 - 7,10,0

The Brewers bats finally came to life, and the charge was led by the Bash Brothers, Prince Fielder (POTG | 4-5, HR, 2 RBI, 3 R) and Ryan Braun (3-4, RBI, 2 R, BB, SB). The Brewers scored early and often, slapping around Tom Gorzelanny (L, 0-2 | 2 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 2 BB, 0 K). Chris Narveson (W, 2-1 | 6 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 5 K) was solid after a shaky start. The Nats made a push in the eighth after Kameron Loe (1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER) allowed them to bring it within 2, giving up 3 HR's in the inning to Adam LaRoche, Ryan Zimmerman, and Ian Desmond. This allowed John Axford (S, 5 | 1 IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 1 K) a chance to collect his fifth save and the Brewers to take the first game in this 3-game series and climb back to .500.

Just started a Detroit franchise. Never completed a full franchise really, so I'm hoping to really get into this one. Got the updated rosters OSFM I believe. Jacob Turner is a complete stud for me. Cabrera is hitting unbelievable too. I think he has a 13 game hitting streak currently. Didn't get a hit his first game, has every game since. Traded Alex Avila and Phil Coke for Hank Conger and Jared Weaver from the Angels. Moved Porcello back to the starting rotation after I had originally moved him to the bullpen. My starting rotation now looks like this: (thru 14 games, with a team record of 5-9)

                          Justin Verlander (1-2, 5.89 ERA, 10 K's, 6 BB's)
                          Jered Weaver (1-0, 4.42 ERA, 22 K's, 10 BB's)
                          Jacob Turner (1-0, 3.00 ERA, 9 K's, 4 BB's)
                          Max Scherzer (0-1, 5.19 ERA, 13 K's, 10 BB's)
                          Rick Porcello (0-0, 6.14 ERA, 7 K's, 0 BB's)

                          Bullpen:
                          Brad Penny (1-1, 4.58 ERA, 16 K's, 12 BB's)
                          Joel Zumaya (0-1, 2.84 ERA, 8 K's, 5 BB's)
                          Ryan Perry (1-1, 6.14 ERA, 11 K's, 4 BB's)
                          Brad Thomas (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0 K's, 2 BB's)
                          Joaquin Benoit (0-2, 13.50 ERA, 2 K's, 3 BB's)
                          Daniel Schlereth (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 K's, 2 BB's)
                          Jose Valverde (0-1, 3 SV's, 4.50 ERA, 7 K's, 2 BB's)

Played all night got thru the month of June. Washington offered me Livan Hernandez for Clete Thomas, took that deal. Moved Porcello back to the bullpen. Jacob Turner is still a beast. Threw a 3 hit, complete game shutout his last outing vs. Mets.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Tigers trade Joaquin Benoit, Carlos Guillen, and Ryan Perry to the Reds for Aroldis Chapman, and Brandon Phillips on June 31st.

Tigers trade Daniel Fields, Nick Castellanos, and Casey Crosby to the Mariners for Manny Delcarmen and Erik Bedard at the trade deadline.

Had Jered Weaver, Jacob Turner, and Jose Valverde all make the All-Star game for pitchers.

Put Livan Hernandez into the bullpen, Erik Bedard starting.

Was 55-38 at the All-Star break.
