So far I am 18-14 with the Braves in my MOM franchise. Just got Prado back off the DL, but lost Derek Lowe for 2-3 months with a fractured arm. McClouth is also day to day with a foot injury. Brian McCann is due to come off the DL in about a week.

So far I'm 82-64 with the Twins leading the division by 3 games. Just finished beating the Tigers in 17 innings -__-

I'm 4-4 in MOM franchise with the Braves. McCann is hitting over .400 and Heyward is in the high .300's I believe. McCann has 4 homers and Heyward has 4 aswell if I remember correctly. I don't know what it is though, But it seems almost everytime I put in Venters or Kimbrel, They give up a run. Their stats are bumped a little to be good but it always ends up like a couple hits here and a run. Their ERA are both at 5. 8 games in. O'Flaherty has been hit hard, He keeps giving up homers for some reason. -.- Nate is below .200, Gonzalez at short is hitting a pathetic .100. I'm thinking about moving him farther down in the lineup cause he's not producing at all.

Washington:
Sean Burnett
Adam LaRoche

Oakland:
Daric Barton

Milwaukee:
Rickie Weeks

I picked up Rickie Weeks from free agency after my first year with the Blue Jays, because Aaron Hill was offered a massive contract from the White Sox and I just couldn't equal it.

Weeks has tremendous speed at the number 2 position in my lineup. He's been great so far for base stealing and advancing Rajai Davis. I'd say his bunt-for-base hit percentage is at about 90% right now through the first month, which really helps open up games with two runners on base.

Teams are starting to catch on to the strategy I'm using, but luckily he's swinging a decent bat at about .240.

I'd definitely go for Rickie Weeks and a couple of prospects to shore up your 1B depth.

Thanks for the input. However, I spent about 2 hours this afternoon looking at everyone's rosters and who I could possibly deal Upton to. It is down to Colorado, Oakland and Cleveland. I jotted down a list of players I would be interested in and then played my game against Minnesota.

David Price went the distance with a complete game. Unfortunately, Mauer hit a triple with 1 out in the ninth. After K'ing Morneau, Cuddyer reached first on a infield single (bad call - he was out) which took away the complete game shutout, but, it was still a nice performance in a 6-1 victory.

After the game, I played around a little with trades. The only deal that I can even get the AI interested in is the following:

Oakland gets:
BJ Upton

Tampa Bay gets:
Tyson Ross
Michael Choice
Chris Carter/Daric Barton <----- either one works, put both in the deal and the AI isn't interested

Not sure if I will do this deal or not. I'm likely to keep Upton for the Yankees series in New York and then make a decision during the All-Star break.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

22 games into my SF franchise, and I've finally strung together a 3 game winning streak! FINALLY!

Trailing 2-1 against ATL (Lowe was dealing through 7 innings, by the way) Mark Derosa comes up with a runner on first in the bottom of the 8th. Derosa, who's filling in for an injured Pat Burrell, gets a hanger and promptly unloads it into the left field bleachers to put me ahead 3-2. Six outs later, enter Brian Wilson. Game...Over.

In my next game, I came back against the CPU again! This time, the hero was Aaron Rowand, who I decided to start in place of a struggling Andres Torres. He had 3 of my team's 5 hits; one of them being ANOTHER go ahead homerun in the late innings.

Man! All is good. At the moment.

Except, Buster Posey...

He's hitting like .160. I'm starting to get worried. He hasn't had a hit in a LONG time. I mean LONG. I hate to do it, but if he doesn't come around even slightly over the next ten games, I may need to drop him out of the cleanup spot.

How do you guys deal with your struggling cleanup hitters? Do you just let them be? How long do you wait for them to iron things out? Any advice?

I would DEFINETLY do that trade...ross is a young fireballer while choice and carter are two of the A's best rookie boppers...

I would leave my cleanup hitter alone for 3 weeks and if im not seeing any progression, i move him around in the lineup...sometimes i stick him 2nd, sometimes 6th, 7th...it just depends on how other players are producing..if it's a team-wide slump, i stay status quo...Fortunately for me this year, my cleanup guy, Garrett Jones is producing quite well ( 17 hr's, 48 rbi's) so he's been a stalwart at cleanup

I have the luxury of shuffling Konerko, Dunn, and Quentin at cleanup. So whoevers hitting bats there, usually Konerko as hes the most reliable of the bunch.

I am using the orioles... They are definitely the most fun team to use in this game with their young system. I am 7-9 but jj hardy just got put on the 60 day dl Zach britton made the rotation but might be sent down because he is struggling big time. Brad Bergeson leads the cy young race. Adam jones and mark Reynolds are my top hitters. I think I might trade Vladimir for a permanent left fielder (Josh willingham?) maybe. Any suggestions?

*UPDATE ON MY TWINS FRANCHISE

With only 7 games left in the season only 3 teams have clinched to the post-season. All in the American League. Standings are as follow:

AMERICAN LEAGUE
1. Red Sox/ 103-53 (clinched division)
2. Rangers/ 91-64 (clinched division)
3. Twins/ 88- 67
4. Yankees/ 96-60 (clinched wild card)

The 4 playoff spots in the NL are all still up for grabs with only a week left of action.
I'm currently fighting to earn the last spot in the AL playoffs. I'm battling vs the White Sox who are not giving up so easy. I won the season series vs the White Sox 11-7 after starting 10-2 against them. The current AL Central standings are as follow.

AL Central
1. Twins/ 88-67
2. White Sox/ 86-69 (2.0 games back)

After losing two straight and winning two straight... the white sox cut the lead down to 1. During a matchup vs the Mariners, I seen on the RF wall that the White Sox lost to the Indians 5-6. I immediately realized I have to win this game in order to get back my 2.0 lead. During the game I put in Jim Thome to pinch hit which landed him playin SS for about 4 innings. I was tempted to take him out since he's not a defensive player. However, he is a power batter and I wanted him playing offense.

Top of the 16th the Mariners take a 4-3 ( i thought i had lost alredy). Bottom of the 16th with a man on 3rd Jim Thome up at bat. With 2 outs and 2 strikes, I thought I was going to lose until i crushed a moonshot to win the game!!...

I regained 2.0 game lead in the division. With only 7 games left to play I hope to win all of them and clinch my division....
This has a been the best MLB i've played so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mets update: I am now 2 games from the trading deadline and 2 games up on the Phillies, who have been struggling since the break. Apparently, the Phillies are pre-programmed into acquiring Carlos Lee, as they just acquired him.

In a somewhat savy move, the CPU took some of the prospects from other trades and flipped them from Bronson Arroyo and Carlos Zambrano. There have also been about half of a dozen more nutso trades.

My offense continues to score in bunches and then struggle. Bay, Hall, Thole, and Pagan are my steadiest hitters. Ike,Wright, and Reyes are hot/cold/hot/cold. I am debating if i should stop guessing pitches and just "see the ball, hit the ball". worth a shot.

Now i must decide which vets what i want to keep/trade. i want to shuttle off k-rod but he is in the middle of an insane season, converted 30+ in a row.

Imo, u CAN'T trade key components of your team if you're in the middle of a pennant race unless u get blown away with a crazy offer and lemme emphasize crazy
