Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Started a season in '10 as the Brew Crew and am 70 games through (play every game kinda guy). Lead the cards by 2 games in the division race. Traded for Ellsbury and Lackey from the Red Sox for Capuano, an A pot prospect and a B potential prospect. Needed some more speed on the base path and a additional pitcher to work with (obviously I dont have Grenks or Marcum). Also brought back Bill Hall due to a Rickie Weeks injury that kept him out a month.

Also, Fielder is killing it. Hes got a .350 average, 28 homers, and leads the NL is RBIs with 62. I hate how huge his stats are and I would put the difficulty up, but all of the other players on my team (excluding Ryan Braun) are playing to/sub par (17th in Team RBI). I don't like how unrealistic it feels to be leading in all three categories with the guy though so most likely I'll switch the sliders up.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

        Hello guys,
I started my season with the Twins as soon as I bought the game on its release day.
I'm currently 68-46 1st place in my division infront of the 63-50 White Sox. I took a break from the game for atleast 2 months and I'm back into it as if I got it for the first time.
I am only batting .251 with Mauer which was something I did not expect ( I expected to be batting .333 or around there). My guy has been Jason Kubel batting .310 with 24hr and 52rbi.
Halfway through the season I traded for Michael Young since I needed a good glove on the field. Pitching wise my guy has been Brian Duensing with a 12-7 record. Liriano is only 9-8 but has been playing better than that. He has 130 strikeouts (9th in the AL) and a 3.00 era (top 5 in the AL).
I have about 9 games left vs the White Sox which I plan to get separation and make the playoffs as the division winner.

P.S White Sox aren't giving up just yet. It took me 14 innings to beat them 5-6. Very exciting moments as the season winds down.

If it's not too much of a bother, what kind of stats are you seeing for the Royals? Mainly players like Butler, Gordon, Escobar and Francoeur? Just wanted to compare where I am with them to where the game thinks they should be.

In my Franchise, the Royals are in last place with a 44-73 record. There best batter is Wilson Betemit batting .293 with 13hr and 49rbi. Billy Butler also seems to be one of their offensive guys putting up 12hr n 52rbi.
Pitching wise, they all have losing records. Their best record in 8-12 by Luke Hochevar and 109 strikeouts.
They're doing pretty awful. I plan on simming the games in which I play to close out the season.

With my Mets, I am a game away from the all-star break. I split with the Dodgers and am trying to take 2 of 3 from the Giants. My offense continues to be inconsistent, they just can't seem to get hot at the same time.

As i do every year, I edit in the Mets first round pick and stick them on the AA bench. Brandon Nimmo has been doing OK actually. I had a rash of injuries in the minors at the catchers position, I traded Russ Adams for Gerald Laird for depth (who i promptly assigned to AAA) and signed some kid off of the FA list to play at AA.

Super exciting all star break stats to be posted soon! OK OK,they are not that exciting.

Swept by the Cubs, drop to 0-7 at home on the year and 2-8 as a full record.
Bats just aren't there. Granted, my starters struggled to get out of the 5th in the past three starts, but still.

I seem to be out of that offensive funk I was in. After beating Cincinnati 9-3 in game 1 of the series, I beat them 10-5 this afternoon in game 2.

Price struggled a bit allowing 3 runs in the first and he hit 100 pitches after just 6.0 innings of work. He did record 7 K's though.

In game 1 it was Longoria who went yard 2x's and recorded 5 RBI. This time it was Zorilla, Ben Zobrist, going 3-5 with 2 HR and 6 RBI!

Big Russ, Adam Russell and Jake McGee worked the 7th and 8th innings. While I was up 5 runs, I still brought in Farnsworth so he could get some work in.

Right now, we sit at 44-37. 4.5 GB of the Red Sox and 1.5 GB of the Yankees for the WC.

For those that play with budgets turned on, have you hit the salary cap yet? In my Royals franchise, the Red Sox ownership decided that $200M is enough money to spend on players and capped the budget in 2015. Does anyone know if that $200M barrier exists for all teams, or does it vary by organization? The salary "floor" seems to be capped at $60M, but you can still spend less than that.

As the season winds down, i'm up in the AL East with my Yankees over the Red Sox by 7 games. More than likely i will be upping the difficulty to Legend for the 2012 season.

I've played about 70% of my games so far and I am just coming off a 5 game losing streak.

Though 94 games A-Rod has been the clear cut MVP of the team with a .310 AVG 30 HR and 62 RBI's. The rest of the lineup has been playing average ball but Derek Jeter is in the midst of a 2 month slump. His batting average, once above .300 is under .250. Should I drop him in the lineup, i'm thinking 9th to try and extinguish all of the rallies that are killed in the beginning of games.

Does it bother anyone else that we are forced to play winter ball in the middle of spring. I've always hated the fact that in all the show versions my rangers have always had to wear long sleeves in April. WTF?
I mean seriously why can everything thing else be so beautiful, but then I'm forced to have all my players wear long sleeves for night games in the middle of spring.ugh I hate this so much. Why not make this an option atleast?

Finally made some moves in my Tigers franchise... one by mistake but I went with it, LOL. I was messing with my trading block and forgot I had changed some things, including ticking Valverde as bait. I didn't realize it until I got the trade notice. I could have went back to a save from a week earlier, and changed it back, but I decided to mix things up a little. Anyway, I "traded" Jose Valverde to the Cardinals for prospects (SP) Carlos Martinez and (C) Bryan Anderson, both which I think are very good prospects. I moved Benoit to closer and brought up Adam Wilk to fill the open bullpen spot. My pitching staff looks like this at this point (Scherzer is out for 2 months with a shoulder injury):

                              Starters:

                              SP Justin Verlander
                              SP Brad Penny
SP Jacob Turner (called up when Scherzer went down)
                              SP Phil Coke
                              SP Rick Porcello

                              LRP Adam Wilk
                              LRP Enrique Gonzalez

                              MRP Ryan Perry
                              MRP Joel Zumaya

                              SU Daniel Schlereth
                              SU Al Albuquerque

                              CP Joaquin Benoit

I had also been eying Jose Reyes or Brandon Phillips to add some speed/defense to our team that was
ranked 28th in speed. The Mets would never budge for Reyes unless I had Verlander or Cabrera in there, LOL. I did manage to pick up Phillips for (CF) Clete Thomas, (RP) Brad Thomas, and Carlos Martinez. Didn't want to get rid of Martinez so quickly, but I needed to make it a fair trade.

                                UPDATE ON MY TWINS FRANCHISE

Hello guys I'm currently 76-52 with the Twins. I'm only missing a month and 2 weeks before entering the post-season (haven't clinch but most likely I'll be the division winner. However, nothing is guaranteed with a month left to play). I played about 90% of my games. However, since I'm near the end I'm undecided on whether wasting my time playing losing teams or only playing winning teams and simming the series vs those bummy teams. Maybe I'll just play the rest of the games and make a run for the best record in the AL. I'm currently in 3rd place in the AL.

                                1. BOSTON/ 84-42
                                2. TEXAS/ 80-47
                                3. TWINS (ME)/ 76-52
                                4. YANKEES (WILD CARD)/ 78-50

                                CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG*

If the season finishes in this order, most likely I'll be taking on the Yanks in the ALDS. As long as Boston stays in 1st place, I'll be facing the Yanks. If the WILD CARD team and the 1st place team are in the same division, the WILD CARD team plays the second best team so making a run for 1st place wouldn't matter as I would still play the Yanks (that's if the standing remains at this pace...teams can always turn it up and some crazy **** can happen with 1 more month to play).
The interesting thing is that I recently got off a 3 game series vs Boston (which I decided to play to see how I face up vs a playoff team) and I took the series 2-1 (although they did not have Crawford which is doing amazingly good batting over .330).

                                GAME 1/ BOSTON WON 5-7
                                GAME 2/ TWINS WON 0-2
GAME 3/ TWINS WON 3-4 (in 12th innings)

Now if that was a playoff series it would've been cool. After taking on Boston, I simmed two series (indians, det) then took on the Yanks (preview of what would most likely be the ALDS) in 4 game series. They took the series 3-1

                                GAME 1/ YANKS WON 0-5
                                GAME 2/ YANKS WON 3-13
                                GAME 3/ TWINS WON 2-3 (15TH INNINGS)
                                GAME 4/ YANKS WON 3-11

If that was to be the first round of the playoffs, I would've been facing elimination. The Yanks seem to have too much offense for my pitching staff and I can't get it together offensively. Atleast theres time left to play for me to prepare for these playoffs because I am not playing this entire 162 game season to get eliminated.

P.S ONE THING THAT TICKS ME OFF IS HOW CERVELLI IS IN 1ST PLACE FOR THE GOLD GLOVE CATCHER WITH A 1.000 FIELDING PERCENTAGE AND 111 PUT OUTS. I'M NOT ON THE RUN FOR THE GOLD GLOVE WITH MAUER WHICH IS FIELDING .998 WITH 758 PUT OUTS. THEY SHOULD FIX THIS FOR NEXT YEAR.

OTHER THAN THAT, I AM MAKING A RUN FOR THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
