Well Franchise version 2.0 got off to a rough start. Josh Johnson gave up 1 run in 6 innings and took the loss behind Johan Santana's sparkling 6.1 innings of shut-out ball. I gave up 3 runs in the 8th to fall 4-0 o er opening day.

      WON! So relieved.

Tied it up on a Loney RBI double. SUbsequently got Loney to 3rd with only 1 out and for some stupid reason, tried a suicide squeeze (with a very good bunter). Popped up to pitcher and that was it.

Came through in the bottom of the 10th. Loney doubled (again... went 4-4 in the game) and Uribe doubled him home. It's satisfying to win those games you make a lot of critical mistakes in.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Playing a fantasy draft chise with Pirates. Roster looks like:

        Starters

        Figgins
        Reyes
        Carlos Gonzales
        Howard
        Garrett Jones
        McCutchen
        Varitek
        Jackie Skattum (rookie)

        Bench

        Helton
        Hinske
        Tabata
        forget the rest

Pitchers for the most part slip my mind, but not a high profile list of names. Biggest names are Pavano and Dallas Braden.

I don't pitch at all, I forward through my defensive half innings but manage the bullpen and put pitchers in to start innings.

        After 42 games I'm 4 or 5 games over .500

Very balanced offensive attack with CarGo being my most productive hitter with 8 or 9 bombs and around 30 RBIs. McCutchen leads in average. Howard and Skattum are barely hitting over .200, don't really mind my rookie 2B hitting in the 8th hole with those numbers but a perenial all star/former MVP is pissing me off. Howard's bat speed just doesn't seem to be the same as other players. Suprisingly, my patch work pitching staff is putting together really solid numbers and is top 10 in almost every major pitching category. I play on veteran without any modified sliders. Resisting the urge to start a new chise, because like a lot of us......40 or so games with the same players makes you thirsty to switch it up.

My goodness the Red Sox are insane. 47 wins through the third week of June!!!

I am 11.5 games back in my Yankees chise. I sit 1.5 games out of the wild card.

How are the Red Sox doing your repective chises?

I am blown away how strong they are in the game this year.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

After winning a few series to start to pull away from Houston, I've now lost 4 in a row to let them back within 2, with 2 games to go before the All-Star break. I was swept by last place San Francisco. My starting pitcher was terrible in the series. Shelby Miller got a spot start in replace of the injured Karstens, and gave up 6 runs in only 4 innings. Westbrook gave up 5 in the first inning of game 2, then 2 more in the 4th. Carp gave up 5 in 3 innings, then got ejected after hitting two batters. We were unable to comeback from the deficits in any of those games.

Garcia pitched well against Colorado, but I pulled him after only 5 innings for a pinch hitter to try and keep a rally going. It didn't work out, leaving 4 innings for the bullpen to hang on to our 4-1 lead. McClellan gave up 4 runs in his 1 inning of relief work, and the Rockies bullpen shut us out the rest of the way, as we lost 5-4. The one bright spot during the losing streak has been Justin Souza and Dustin Richardson. I got both of them off waivers, and they've been lights out so far. Unfortunately the rest of the pitching staff has really been struggling, as we just can't seem to get on a long winning streak.

Can someone help me out? I'm using the latest rosters and Zach Britton has a D or F potential so he gets worse every year. How can I edit his stats to fix his potential?

I re-started my Rays franchise after playing thru the first year. I changed my user-play schedule to 4 against division rivals (2 @ home, 2 on road), 2 inter-division games against rest of the AL (1 @ home, 1 on road) and any 6 interleague games of my choosing.

Currently sitting at June 10th in the game. We are 37-27 in 2nd place behind the Yankees. Red Sox are running .5 game back of me in 3rd.

Ben Zobrist is currently tearing it up. Hitting .336 with 15 HRs and 38 RBI. Jeff Niemann is a surprising 7-1 and Kyle Farnsworth is 19/19 in save chances. Including a 1-2-3 inning against the Angels on June 8th to preserve a 1-0 win.

Game 19 into my Braves franchise. The month of April. Prado goes down for the year. Its a dislocated ankle which takes him away from me.

Playing against the Giants. Hanson was dominating their offense. I was leading 3-0, top of the 8th. Prado was 0 for 2, he crushes a shot to triples alley at the AT&T park. He slides in feet first at third base and takes a seat.

I went on to win 3-0. Hanson picked up my first complete game and 2 hit shutout. I moved to 7-12 for the year.

Conrad is hot for me,he is batting over .300. He drove in two of the three runs in this game, so I will insert him at 3B and moved Chipper to left field. I will see how that works before making a trade.

During the offseason I did not resign Jack Cust but I brought back a lot and signed a few new players to the Mariners in RF Roger Bernadina (He will start in right until Peguero is ready and speedy 2nd bat threat) and 3B Wilson Betemit (He will DH and bat cleanup, possibly move to third if I end up trading Figgins).

I can make do with him for now...trust me I tried signing some bigger name free agents (at least for me...:P ) even if they have full interest bars they wouldn't sign with me. Plus I only had 41 mil to use during the offseason plus having to sign all the players that were going to leave.

Just starting offseason 5 with the Reds-a lot of my players have developed to A's and Bs. I really need to trade some of my players for pitching there's a definite lack of good RP and CP prospects.

You guys with contract issues-you do know any player not on the 40 can be signed to any contract you want. The best advice I can give is to sign your best prospects to 10 year deals after their rookie contracts are up. Just make it fair-offer 2-4 million a year rather than 30K. I'd also suggest signing players long term in their contract renewal years-there's more amenable to LTC in the first 2 years of MLB service.
