Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Im sitting at 27-30 with the Dodgers but am starting to turn it around a bit. Trading for Mike Napoli was probably the best thing Ive done all year as he has serious power against lefties and was no worse against righties then Barajas was so it was a no brainer. Kershaw is frustratingly erratic at times but other then his issue with walks hes been alright.

First off, I don't have a franchise with the Pirates. I do play as the Reds, and realize that their player budget makes it really hard to keep good talent. Not sure if you play or sim most the games, it does make a difference. If you sim, set a goal of top 8 years 1-2, wild card years 3-4, division years 5-6, and WS years 7-8. If you make the playoffs, try and make the Championship Game. you should see a bigger increase in your player budget. Also try and trade veteran players you can't re-sign to Playoff Push teams.

I have a franchise with the pirates...i havent made any changes to the roster besides swapping morton for lincoln in my rotation...i like to keep my team as realistic as possible..i keep my line-up pretty straight forward with mcutchen, walker, alvarez, jones, doumit, overbay, tabata, cedeno and the pitcher......my rotation is correia, maholm, ohlendorf, mcdonald, and lincoln....cant really complain too much as my hitting and pitching is clicking on all cylinders for the most part....what i might look into is dealing for a frontline starter for down the stretch as the pirates dont have a true ace

Good thinking but im 1st in my division with a slim lead over the cards....cant afford to deal veterans for prospects at this stage....im not entirely enamored with my rotation so i might look for starting pitching help as the all-star break nears...i have cpu trades off cause im not in favor of teams making lopsided trades

Just simmed the second year, we finished 80-82 again, with Tabata and McCutchen both out for significant time. Heading into this offeseason our concern is SP, as our bullpen was stellar. One bright spot for the year was Alavarez, who hit .296 with 35 HRs.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

I'm having all sorts of trouble with franchise mode. I was able to use Knight and other people's set up methods to set the cpu teams lineups how I want them, but it really only works for opening day. When the cpu subs guys in to rest them they do it way too much (for example guys like Morneau, Arod, Pujols are sitting out 2-3 times a week) and on top of that the lineups that the cpu uses when they rest these guys is not even close to accurate. Morneau hits 2nd, Arod leads off, Chipper Jones hits 2nd, Matsui leads off for Oakland, Is there a way this can be fixed, I'm using 30 team control and have default profile set to the one that has me controlling lineups/rotations for the custom (which is the other 29 teams) and mine which I use for just my team (Mariners) When I load my franchise there is a little note that says requires version 1.15 or later... Do I need to update or something? If this can't be fixed this is very disappointing as it is impossible to play a very accurate or realistic season when the cpu benches guys like Pujols, Arod, Hamilton 3 times a week and they use lineups like they do when they rest guys for their off days. I don't mind making an effort to try and control things, but if I have to sit here and go into every cpu game every day and start it to make sure their lineup is accurate and then sim it... that's really disappointing the people that make this game couldn't prevent something like this from happening. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm using Knights full minors complete out of the roster vault for my roster, the one titled opening day. I just simmed about 40 games and so far Morneau has played 25, Arod 27, and Hamilton from Texas 27... None of them had any time missed for injuries not even a day... this is not even close to how it goes in real life. Teams dont rest their best players once every 3 games or so ever especially in the beginning of the season.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

27-23 with the White Sox and 4 games lost in a row.
The main problem is I can't have a good day pitching and batting on the SAME day.
                I've lost 2 games 1-0 during this span and 2 games 7-10 and 9-10...
I score runs, they score, I pitch well, they pitch well too.

My SP is my concern as I have an ERA of 4.11, especially on my last 10 games (even if I had 2 1run game) in which I have allowed more than 60 runs !!!

Buerhle and Peavy are my worst (yes worst) SP. Peavy 5.00+ ERA and Buerhle 6.00+
So I'm considering trading them both.
Buerhle is in his last year so I could move him.
And Peavy has still a trade value.

Dunn is still my offensive threat with 16 bombs followed by Konerko with 11 and Quentin with 7.

                J. Pierre is struggling now as he has only 7 hits in his last 12 games.
Rios is struggling too and has dropped his avg to a low .171 avg...

Detroit is still in first despite its 7 games losing streak with a 28-23 record.

A big trade occured as Boston send B. Jenks and a A LF to Atlanta for SP Derek Lowe and a RP (forgot his name)
Seems good in both way as the Red Sox are in first and Atlanta is dead last in his division and Lowe is in his last year.

Started a two-team franchise using the Brewers and Mariners. I pitch/hit only the games that Hernandez/Pineda/Grienke/Gallardo pitch. And then every other game, all I do is hit. It shortens the season length and keeps my stats reasonable.I want to attempt to break a HR record or SVs record.

Im at June 9th and Derek Jeter got his 3000th hit with a bang. He hit a HR off of Clay Bucholz in the first inning to lead off the game for the Yankees.

That is how I play, I am 23-23 with the Bucs, just came off a 4 game skid. My offense is definatly there, it's my pitching. Although this happens to be the season that I had my first perfect game in an baseball video game history with Ross Ohlendorf on May 12th against the Dodgers. It's lack of consistancy, and those are the risks you have to be willing to take in order to run a realistic buccos franchise. I play with Knights Roster because I am a huge Pirate fan and want everything to be realistic. I have played every game this season and look to play all 162. My little tid-bid would be to give Josh Rodriquez a good try, I thought what's this guy doing up here when I started my franchise up. But from the get-go he has tore it up. Sure he hasn't played as much as the starters, but I use him to give Pedro Alvarez, Ronny Cedeno, and Neil Walker a break. Now in mid-May he plays a vital role on my squad batting .342. Other impressive performances include Garrett Jones' 15 homeruns and 33 RBIs .330 AVG. He's either first or tied with Prince Fielder for first in homeruns in the NL. Surely worth noting. Another impressive performance is James McDonald's 7-1 with a 3.52 ERA mark. One of the few bright spots in the Bucs rotation. My current rotation stands as follows:

                      James McDonald
                      Kevin Correia
                      Brad Lincoln
                      Ross Ohlendorf
(Audition Spot) - tried Jeff Locke (got taterd against the Nats) Daniel McCutchen is next, if he doesn't perform I'm calling Karstens back up.

*Paul Mahalom is no longer a bucco, after posting an 0-5 start to the season, and seeing no light in the future, I designated him for assignment, finding no fit in the organization and after clearing wavers, he was later released into free agency.

*Charlie Morton - currently in the bullpen, hasn't done well as of his last few starts, trying to find a better role for the 5 spot while still trying to develope Charlie in the bullpen. I hope he can one day regain he role in the rotation.

So I'm in the 4th year of franchise and I'm starting to see some crazy sim stats. I'm seeing a lot of really good and really bad teams. To give you an idea, San Diego had their winning percentage at one point just above .200. It's now at .300, but I may see this year if -5 is as bad a penalty you can get to your player budget or if it can get worse. same thing with the good teams, there's one team who has 45 wins just after the June draft. I'm thinking it takes coaches a couple of years to take an effect on players, and I'm seeing the result now.

Since the trade from Prince Fielder in early May, the Tribe has been on a roll. Currently sitting at 50-32 and in 1st place in the AL Central...

                            Lineup looks like this...

                            CF - Grady Sizemore
                            SS - Asdrubal Cabrera
                            RF - Shin Soo Choo
                            1B - Prince Fielder
                            DH - Travis Hafner
                            C - Carlos Santana
                            2B - Orlando Cabrera
                            3B - Lonnie Chisenhall
                            LF - Michael Brantley

Very solid lineup imo, although, I really could use a right handed bat in there somewhere.

I'll keep you all updated, I might even start a blog like my NBA 2k11 one...

I lost interest in my Mets franchise b/c I didn't have my settings right. Thankfully I am locked in now thanks to my Mariners "test" franchise which has actually turned out to be more fun that I was expecting.

I may start my Mets one again and just play every 4th or 5th game. I'd also like to get something going with the Rockies, too.

I've been playing my Royals franchise and I'm about to start May. I'm sitting at 16-11 and first in the division. The Twins are 1.5 back at the moment. I did make a couple of changes to my team, even though I usually try not to.
                                • Signed Ben Sheets
                                • Traded a couple B prospects that I wasn't too crazy about to the A's for Conor Jackson

I usually hate being someone who signs some of the top FA. Especially when they won't be playing anytime soon in real life. Until Duffy and Montgomery make their way up to the team though, my rotation needed help. I've always like Conor Jackson and he fit my need for a decent right hand bat off the bench.

My team has really picked up it up lately going 7-3 in the last 10. Butler is on a 16 game hitting streak (probably just jinxed it) and Francoeur has been on fire since I switched my lineup around. My lineup is currently...

                                2B - Mike Aviles
                                CF - Melky Cabrera
                                DH - Billy Butler
                                RF - Jeff Francoeur
                                LF - Alex Gordon
                                3B - Wilson Betemit
                                1B - Kila Ka'aihue
                                C - Matt Treanor
                                SS - Alcides Escobar

Frenchy had 8 HR the first month of the season so I decided to ride that power streak as long as possible. Escobar has been awesome in the 9 hole. Actually too awesome and I have tried moving him up in the order but it just doesn't seem to work that well. Butler is doing what Butler does. Good BA (.327) and getting his share of Doubles (8)

I was hoping that Hosmer would have a good first month of the season so I could justify bringing him up over Kila, but he's not doing so well right now. Gotta earn it kid. Duffy is pushing for a spot in the rotation and Davies may end up giving it to him if he doesn't straighten up.

Look forward to keeping you all posted on my Royals franchise.
