Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
110 games into the season in my Orioles Franchise. August 4th I think and Brian Matusz suffers an arm fracture and is listed to be gone for 2 months. He was 9-4 with a 4.55 (or something like that)ERA. Not a terrible loss, but he as a solid starter. Troy Patton (6-0 2.84) moves from long relief to the rotation. I decided to move Bergeson back to Long relief and I'm going to bring someone up from AAA. Currently sitting at 71-39. 7.5 games behind Boston. Have an 8 game lead in the wild card.
Luke Scott is hitting .317 31 HRs 91 RBI. Easily the best hitter in my line up. Tried to make a trade at the deadline for a power arm to close but everyone wanted Manny Machado which wasn't happening. That leads to another problem.
SS is a black hole in my line-up. Hardy is hitting .204, Izturs .267 and dropping. So I sent Hardy down to AAA brought up Brendan Harris who had a hot July.Moderator

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
***My April Update***
[Through June 3rd]
NL Central
Reds: 42-16
Cubs: 34-23 - 7.5 GB
Cardinals: 30-29 - 12.5 GB
Brewers: 27-31 - 15.0 GB
Astros: 26-32 - 16.0 GB
Pirates: 25-34 - 17.5 GB
Since updating my last post, the Reds are still on a crazy winning rampage. Right now, I'm probably better off going after the Wild Card, which I'm leading by a game and a half. I made a trade in mid-May, which I posted in the Trades Discussions Thread. Since then my offense has exploded, as I'm comfortably not known as the worst hitting team in the majors anymore. Borbon has taken the lead-off role and ran with it (literally...). He's hitting a whopping .357 as a Cub with 15 SB (caught only twice). The only standout in my line-up still, is Tyler Colvin. The transition to first base has been easy for him, which I'm very thankful for.
My pitching is still best in the league, mainly because of Dempster, Garza and Wells. Diamond, Grabow, Wood and Marmol have been dominant to make my bullpen one of the best and most dependable in the league. I have no concern with my pitching, except for Carlos Zambrano. I'm going to look to trade him before the deadline.
Line-Up
1. RF Julio Borbon: .321 - 1 HR - 17 RBI - 25 R - 26 SB
2. SS Starlin Castro: .251 - 7 HR - 18 RBI - 21 R - 19 SB
3. 1B Tyler Colvin: .321 - 12 HR - 32 RBI - 30 R - 13 SB
4. C Geovany Soto: .266 - 8 HR - 18 RBI - 22 R
5. CF Marlon Byrd: .305 - 8 HR - 24 RBI - 24 R - 7 SB
6. LF Alfonso Soriano: .232 - 12 HR - 31 RBI - 25 R - 8 SB
7. 3B Aramis Ramirez: .219 - 7 HR - 20 RBI - 24 R
8. 2B Blake DeWitt: .180 - 0 HR - 5 RBI - 5 R - 2 SB
[I have a platoon at 2B. DeWitt faces RHP, Baker/Barney faces LHP.]
Bench
RF Kosuke Fukudome: .230 - 0 HR - 7 RBI - 8 R - 5 SB
C Bengie Molina: .250 - 3 HR - 7 RBI - 7 R
2B Darwin Barney: .243 - 2 HR - 10 RBI - 11 R - 4 SB
2B Jeff Baker: .248 - 1 HR - 10 RBI - 11 R
LF Reed Johnson: .270 - 0 HR - 6 RBI - 7 R
Rotation
Ryan Dempster: 6-1, 2.24 ERA, 84.1 IP, 48 K, 13 BB, 11/12 QS

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Just had one of my best games offensively and pitching wise so far in my Phillies franchise. Just got done playing tonight's game against the Nationals. Cliff Lee vs. Jason Marquis. Phillies won the game 9-0. Domonic Brown and Chase Utley both had 2 home runs and 4 RBI each in the game. My record with the Phillies through May 31 stands at 35-21. 6 games up on the second place Atlanta Braves who have lost 6 straight.
The main point of this post is that I was dealing with Cliff Lee in this game. I mean dealing. I had a perfect game going into the bottom of the 7th inning. Roger Bernadina, Ian Desmond, and Jayson Werth were the scheduled hitters in that inning. I was starting to get nervous around that time, and I thought if any hitter in the 7th is going to beat me, it's going to be Werth. I get Bernadina out, and then end up hanging a low curveball to Desmond for a base hit up the middle. Perfect game gone. Wouldn't you know it, I retired every other batter after that to end up with a 1-hit shutout. Still very rewarding, but man I wish I could have that curveball to Desmond back. Also struck out 10 Nats with Lee too. Including a called third strike to Bernadina to end the game.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
So today I accidentally saved over my Oakland A's franchise in mlb 09 where I was in year 3. I was 90 games in to season 3, played them all. I still have my reds one I've played a little (which is the one I accidentally saved over it with), so I might play that a little. I think I'll finally upgrade to a new version now, since that was the reason why I hadn't bought a new version yet. I'm going to wait and see if my friend lets me borrow his ps3 while he's gone though, because if he does I'll buy MLB 11 for ps3 (I currently only have a ps2).

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
I just started a Giants franchise a few days ago.
After taking 3 out of 4 to start the season...my one loss being am 11-0 beatdown thanks to a pitiful Matt Cain...SD promptly swept our 2 game mini-series to put our record at 3-3...despite a gem from Lincecum in my last game.
I decided to allow the CPU to automatically assign my 25-man after Spring Training. I've gotta say, Brandon Belt is a beast!!! I admittedly don't know anything about this dude...or SF's farm system as a whole, but Google is about to get hit up here very soon. Belt already has cracked a few homers and plays a very good 1B.
Andres Torres is struggling at lead-off. We face Chris Carpenter next, so...I'd gather tonight may not be the night he gets things rolling. Freddy Sanchez is probably better suited for that leadoff roll, but it's way too early for me to be tinkering with the lineup. I think.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
1.5 gms out of the wildcard after winning 4 in a row with the Bosox. I need the wildcard as the Yanks are about 12.0 gms up in the AL East.
What are some of your team leaders stats?
For me, after about 110 gms, Gonzo is leading the way in essentially every offensive category and was an all-star/HR Derby participant. He's at .302 with 40 HR & 83 RBI. The guy can just mash. Ellsbury is 2nd on the team hitting around .290. Both Crawford & Youk are coming off the DL in the next week or so as they've been out awhile.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Playing as the Braves: I don't if I am figuring out the game or getting lucky. I won two in a row. 13 games into the season, playing a three game series versus the Marlins. I lost game one. I got dominated by the SP Volstad.
Game 2 Josh J vs Hanson. He was not dominating me like normally, meaning not many k's. But his team was leading 1-0. I got him tired by taking alot of pitches and got him outta there by the 7th inn. My bullpen kept me in the game. Uggla came thru late and propelled me to a 2-1 victory.
Game 3
Vasquez vs. Jurjjens, The Marlins jumped on me early 2-0. I bounced back bottom of the 2nd, scoring three, with the catalyst being Brooks Conrad hit blasted a 2-R HR giving me a 3-2 lead. I did not look back. Chipper pinch hit, he picked up his 2500th hit. Jordan Schafer finished off the bttm 8th off with 3-R HR, down the right field line. Brooks was a DBL from the cycle.
The final score was 7-3, my bullpen is pitching extremely well keeping me in ball games...Last edited by decga; 06-01-2011, 10:06 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
I can't stress enough the importance of having multiple franchise saves to ensure this doesn't happen. I always have around 5 saves, that way if I overwrite one or if for some reason it gets corrupted, I'll lose no more than a couple games.
So today I accidentally saved over my Oakland A's franchise in mlb 09 where I was in year 3. I was 90 games in to season 3, played them all. Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Just looked at the real #s...Sitting at 58-54, 12.0 gms outta 1st in AL EAST & 2 gms back in AL Wildcard Race. About to start a 3 game home series vs the Yankees. This has been an exciting season despite the injuries in my Red Sox franchise. As i stated earlier, Gonzo & Ellsbury are leading the way, while Pedroia(.219 avg) and Scutatro (.191) have REALLY struggled. Pedroia has played solid D tho. Only move I have made is added Orlando Hudson to my infield mix with Youk being out, traded for Franklin Morales as I like to keep it realistic & I released Hideki Okajima.Comment
