Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Been slumping as of late. Half of my losses this season have come in the last week and a half or so of play.

Lost what should've been an easy victory in Florida 11-6. Was down 6-0 nearly at the mercy of a no-hitter, so I should be happy I got 6 runs. Blanton's streak finally ended: He had an ERA of 1.32 entering the game and got it as low as 1.22 before giving up 5 runs.

So I'm looking for a starting pitcher, specifically Kyle Drabek, and it's frustrating me how they (Blue Jays) aren't budging. They're in the cellar, Drabek is 1-6 with a 7+ ERA, and they won't accept any player I have, even their needed and wanted players according to the Trade Block. I think I can turn Drabek around.

I guess you have to wait until they get into selling mode...

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Just lost Carlos Beltran for 2-3 weeks after he got hit by a pitch in Game 1 of my series against the Colorado Rockies. Injured his finger (I'm guessing a break). Jason Bay is due to come off the DL in 2 days, but until then, I had to call up F. Martinez from Triple A to fill Beltran's roster spot.

Not surprisingly, I was shutout by Ubaldo Jimenez in the next game, 5-0. I drew 6 walks and only struck out 3 times, but I grounded into 3 double plays and Jose Reyes (who was low on energy and was recommended to sit but I had to play him with Beltran out) was picked off on first.

4-7 now after 11 games. I did make a change to my settings. I'm now using Classic pitching on All-Star difficulty. I just wasn't getting the results I wanted from Analog.

30 games into my franchise with the Marlins, Hanley Ramirez is putting up an MVP season so far, rest of the offense is getting on base a little bit but hes the only guy driving runs in lol, Pitching wise Johnsons been sick as i expected but the entire rotation has been above what i expected minus Volstad, not hitting many homers but i play get em on get em over get em in small ball so thats not a surprise, loving the game so far!!!!

Rangers win game 3 of the ALCS, but turn around and get killed in games 4 and 5 and we now trail the Tigers 3 games 2 and headed back to Arlington. .

              Game 3
              Rangers win 5-3
Hamilton was the hero here. 3-5, with 2 doubles, a home run and 3 RBI, although Borbon got the start and went 5 for 5. He had a triple a double and 3 singles, but, he got thrown out 4 times and picked off once. Doh!

              Game 4 -
Rangers lose 10-2 (it was bottom of the 8th and we were down 10-2 and game froze, so I just simmed it until we lost. Took me 7 tries to get a Rangers loss, which was 3-1)
Tigers had 11 extra base hits. 6 Doubles, 3 triples and 2 home runs. Yikes! First game in a while that Ogando got rocked.

              Game 5 - 6-1
This game featured Verlander (who was struggling a bit in the postseason, vs CJ Wilson who had been lights out in the postseason, 2-0 with a 0.58 era in 16 innings pitched. Today was not CJ's day. He was not fully rested and it showed, he was pulled by after 5.1 innings. Gave up 5 runs on 11 hits and issued 3 walks. All 5 runs came from the bat of Magglio Ordonez. He had a 3 run shot in the first and a 2 run shot in the 4th.Verlander was pretty much un-hittable. I think we had 5 hits and the only run came off of two throwing errors on one play that advanced a runner from first to home.

Hopefully Colby Lewis and Brandon Webb can shut the Tigers bats down. Lewis is 0-2 this postseason with a 9.00 era.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Had a crazy game last night against the Diamondbacks (aka DBags).

It was Billingsley vs Zach Duke and I managed to take a no hitter into the 7th inning. The game was scoreless though until the 7th when of all people, Chad Billingsley with 2 outs hit a 2 RBI double in the gap because Chris Young misplayed it.

So we go in to the top of the 9th, I'm still up 2-0 and Bills is still on the mound and gets another run of support as Rod Barjas homered over the left field fence making it 3-0.

So, we get to the 9th and Bills manages to get the first out easy. but then the bottom fell out. He gave up 2 runs and was taken out with the bases loaded and 1 out.

Broxton comes in to relieve him and on a 1-2 count, gets Melvin Mora to ground into the game ending 4-6-3 double play.

That pushed my record up to 66-46...the Red Sox and Yankees already have 80 wins....

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

having 3 favorite teams finally caught up to me, so i took a mini break from the marlins franchise to start one with the red sox, nothing special has really happened up until i played texas at fenway, beckett had a no no going to the 6th (young hit a line drive single off the monster) finished with a 1 hitter and 5k's, was nearly my 1st no no on 11, actually the 1st game i had ever given up less than 5 hits lmao, but no cigar. The Jays and Orioles are noticebly more competitive, in fact the entrie al east race right now looks like it may be ****, hope it stays like this all season. (PS gave up my longest HR ever on any baseball series, Bautista with a 503 foot bomb at rogers centre) it was pretty damn majestic minus the fact it was a walk off shot in the 14th so i couldnt really be too excited lol.

I decided tomake a new draft this time.. now with budgets off and the tweaked version of knights roster... If you want to know whos on my team ill post them...

But my MLB team is like this:

                    Hitting: 9th
                    Pitching:12th
Fielding:25th or whatever no big deal

                    AAA
                    Hitting: 1st
                    Pitching 1st
                    Defense 1st

                    AA
                    Hitting: 1st
                    Pitching 1st
                    Defense 1st

I call this draft strategy POTENTIALLY(pun intended) the best strategy ive used during a draft.. a couple trades to that really worked out good i think.. maybe a little dumb on the computers part to accept some but oh well.. there not going to complain

                      Kemp for NL MVP
                      Montero for AL ROY

The wheels are falling off. 40-37 heading into a 3 game series against the Nationals @ home. Swept. Got shutout by Chien Men Wang, CG by Tom Gorzalanny, and another CG by Jason Marquis. Very frustrating.

Up next, 3 game series at Coors. Swept again. Boy, with Tulo and Brandon Phillips up the middle, nothing and I mean nothing gets by those two. Then Chris Iannetta, CarGo, and Dexter freaking Fowler were slapping doubles and triples all series long. Another frustrating series.

Adam Dunn is a huge liability in the field in NL parks. But I need his bat. Also, Juan Pierre, hitting a robust .192 with 5 HRs, 15 RBI, and 21 steals may be benched permanently. Hes a human groundball out. Omar Vizquel, switch hitting dynamo, batting .330 will assume leadoff duties.

@ 40-43, the White Sox are fading fast and the Tigers are hot winning their last 7. They sit @ 44-39.

I'm 23-17 with the White Sox.
And Pierre has the best avg of the team .338 ! And already 25 steals.
However I'm struggling with Quentin and Rios (both under the Mendoza line)
And all of my starters (except E. Jackson 3.10 ERA) have a 4.00 + ERA (Buerhle is at 5.50)

Keep the faith, the Tigers are damn good in the game but could have cold streak. They just lost 7 games in a row in my franchise when I managed to win 5 of this 7. So they are now @ 25-15 and I'm trailing only by 2 games.
                          7 Games before, they were @ 25-8 when I was @ 18-15...

Have you called up any prospects?
I called up T. Flowers (replacing injured R. Castro) and he did a good job in the few games he played.
I called up Escobar (replacing injured A. Ramirez) and he was horrible hitting only .110 in 50+ AB. Only his good range, defensive abilities and speed (7 SB) are worth. But his contact is just bad.
I called up Jordan Danks (replacing struggling L. Milledge) and did a masterful job in the 5 games he played (hitting .570 avg) However I send him down to keep him playing everyday.

Mets fans, look at this lineup I had to roll out yesterday against the Rockies due to injuries and other guys needing rest:

                            1. Hu, ss
                            2. Pagan, cf
                            3. Wright, 3b
                            4. Hairston, lf
                            5. Murphy, 1b
                            6. Emaus, 2b
                            7. Nickeas, c
                            8. F. Martinez, rf
                            9. Niese, p

Going up against De la Rosa and it was not pretty. The CPU pitched around my 2 best hitters (Pagan and Wright) and the rest of the lineup couldn't do anything. 1 run on 4 hits. I did manage to draw 5 walks and only struck out 5 times, but just was unable to get a hit with guys in scoring position.

Thankfully, Jason Bay and Ronnie Paulino are due to come off the DL after my next game.

45 games into my marlins franchise, Hanley Ramirez still has his streak going of a hit in all 45, 2nd for mvp atm behind votto, Hanley is hitting .435 with 11 HR 53 RBI's and 11 Steals. I've never been in this type of zone with a player before, EVER. Josh Johnson is first for Cy Young at 8 and 2 with a 1.93 ERA. Fear the fish!!!!!!

Just finished season 1 of my Toronto franchise. I played about 155 of the games; what a marathon!!! I forced a 1 game playoff with Texas and beat them 6-3! The Jays partied too hard and got swept by Oakland in the wild card round. Time for the offseason!

I wanted to walk into the bear's den, the AL East, with an average team, and see how long it took my to get to the playoffs. I was hoping 3 years. Luckily, the Yankees were sub .500. That, along with the Red Sox winning like 112 games, keeping Baltimore and Tampa in the loss column.
