Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

O.k. so getting ready to start the season in my Indians franchise, and I have already demolished the Indians team. I have moved Grady Sizemore to left, and traded for Ben Revere as my CF project for the future. Traded away alot of the Indians team, below is my lineup and rotation.

    2B - Eric Young Jr.
    SS - Ramiro Pena
    C - Carlos Santana
    LF - Grady Sizemore
    1B - Matt LaPorta
    DH - Juan Rivera
    3B - Chisenhall
    RF - Austin Kearns
    CF - Ben Revere

    Bench
    C - Greg Zaun
    SS - Jon McDonald
    2B - Jason Downs
    3B - Joe Inglett
    RF - Ryan Sweeney

    Starters
    Fausto Carmona
    Justin Masterson
    Scott Kazmir
    Craig Stammen
    Scott Olson

    Long Relief
    Chad Durbin
    Ryan Rowland-Smith

    Middle Relief
    Jeff Samardzija (probably m/s)
    Chris Resop
    Breslow

    Setup
    Ryan Webb

    Closer
    Matt Lindstrom

I kinda traded alot of what the Indians had for prospects, for example I have in the minors right now Jameson Taillon and Eric Hosmer...and plan to around the trading deadline shop either Sizemore or Rivera, Olson, Masterson, and Lindstrom.

Maybe I'll trade him for Michael Young. Too bad I'm giving up many home grown talent. does Kendrick play 3rd and switch lowrie to 2nd and I'll bring up Dee Gordon...

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

First game with Kubel and Span and Kubel hits one over the centerfield fence and Span hits a bases-clearing double in spacious Safeco Field. I moved Span to right field since Ichiro is gone so hopefully this will reduce gapshot doubles. Now I need to send either Cust or Kubel somewhere to get a faster left fielder.

        Team Leaders at Break:
        AVG.: Chone Figgins (.305)
        RBI: Justin Smoak (57)
        SB: Chone Figgins (39)
        BBs: Justin Smoak (39)
HR: Jack Cust & Miguel Olivo (21)
        Wins: Felix Hernandez (9)
        SO: Felix Hernandez (143)
        ERA: Felix Hernandez (2.23)
        Losses: Jason Vargas (3)
        WHIP: Michael Pineda (1.14)
        Kemp for NL MVP
        Montero for AL ROY

FINALLY! I beat the Red Sox in my O's franchise. I was 0-6 going into our July 8th game. Zach Britton pitched beautifully. CG 7H 3BB 5K. I got some offense, and finally didn't blow a lead! Won 5-0. Last game blew a 3-1 lead in the 9th.

So now my O's sit at 57-32 10.5 games behind Boston (68-22)in the AL East. I have a 3.5 game lead over Tampa (54-36). I am looking for a true closer because Koji Uehara and Kevin Gregg aren't the answer. So that may be my deadline move. 2 games till the all-star break. May bring up LJ Hoes after that and send Andino down he only has 23 AB's this year.

          Random Stats:
          Mark Reynolds 3B 88 games
          .252/.322/.858 25 HR 49 RBI 10 SB
Much better than the .198 he hit last year.

I decided to start a Twins franchise as well and swapping the save file with three other guys,. Anyway I am off to a 7-3 start as well and have been getting GREAT production with Danny Valencia at 3rd with .320 4HR and 9RBI's. Also traded away Nathan and Pavano with another AAA player to the Mets to bring back the band with Santana and also KRod. I will say this about playing as the Twins, I love Target field, it is very beautiful, but I hit a ton of extra base hits but with a low amount of HRs. I guess that park is just designed that way because I hit more HRs away.

Lol. All-Star game. I as the AL had a 3-0 lead bottom of the 8th 2 outs. I've used my pen except for Nefteli Feliz and Pappelbon. So Feliz gives up a HR and gets out of the 8th. So 3-1 going into the bottom of the 9th. Pap gives up a HR on his 3rd pitch. I have no one left in the pen. Long story shot Pappelbon doesn't record an out and blows the save. NL wins 4-3 and The Red Sox have Peppelbon to thank for having to play a max of 4 games by NL Rules.

Also I was in need of a 4th OF with the loss of Fukudome I tried to sign Mike Cameron but he signed with another team so I traded for Tony Gwynn JR

Been a while since I updated
This second season has been a definate struggle especially at the top of the rotation as Garza and Big Z both are performing sub-par.
Fielder has proven to be a worthy signing as well as Punto who has started at 2B for me ever since Barney tore his knee up.
I am a week away from the All-Star Break and am 42-43. 4.5 out of the wild card.
Barney just came ack and Im hoping Big Z and Garza can get it going. If that happens I am confident we can clinch a playoff spot.

I'm in the 4th year and waivers are starting to be a issue. I can no longer send players down with impunity. I'll also look at trading some of my older players. Cueto is on the last year of his 4 year deal and Volquez just turned 30. It's a good thing I held on to Votto for 2 more years because Alonso wasn't ready.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

In my 09 A's franchise (year 3) I had 5 straight interleague series. Went a 8-7 in those games including sweeping San Diego Padres. My record now stands at 38-37 and I am 5 GB of the Angels.

After my rookie pitcher struggled again I decided to make a deal for Josh Johnson of the Marlins. They are 21 games out of first and he will be a free agent at the end of the year so I shipped them an A potential pitching prospect who should be major league ready next season. Johnson is not as good as he is in real life since this is the 09 version, but he's still pretty good. I hope he can help us close the gap between us and the Angels. Now I know he can't do it single handed but if we could get some solid starting pitching we would be much better.

Also Jose Reyes has been great in his first year with us after signing him to a 3 year $60 million deal last offseason. He's hitting .309 with 6 HR's 19 doubles and 9 triples. He's a nice spark at the top of the lineup.

Im curious as to who has gotten to the off season with the Sox...in terms of resigning guys, has it been difficult? I didn't make any contract extensions in spring training & a lot of guys are in their lasy year(including Gonzalez). Im esp. not sure of what ill do with a guy like papi...
