Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

I decided to start up another Royals chise, I kind of badly traded my way into a slump and wanted a fresh start. I usually just try and keep the Royals as they are, however I'm deciding to take a little different approach this year and make 3-5 trades to see how good I can get this team by bringing up some of the young talent (hosmer, Moustakas, Duffy). But also trading away players like Frenchy, Melky, and a couple of prospects that aren't MLB ready..

Through about 4 trades this is how I look so far at 4-5 and third in the AL Central, Playing on All-Star, Analog.

    Lineup
CF: Drew Stubbs (slump, barely hitting .200 on the year)
    3B:Mike Moustakas (3 HR, 5 RBI) Batting upper .300
    RF:Ryan Braun (10 RBI) batting .405
LF:Alex Gordon (near .300, just hit walkoff HR against Detroit)
    1B:Billy Butler (.316, 9 RBI)
    DH:Eric Hosmer (4 HR, batting .389)
SS:Alcides Escobar (.291, but all basically hits off bunts)
    C:J.P. Arencibia (3 HR, 8 RBI, but injured day-to-day)
    2B:Chris Getz (Getzouts)

    Pitching Rotation
    SP:Ricky Romero
    SP:Kyle Mclellan
    SP:Jamie Garcia
    SP:Johnny Cueto
    SP: Danny Duffy

    Bullpen
    RP:Aaron Crow
    RP:Jeremy Jeffrees
    RP:Tim Collins
    RP:Louis Coleman
    RP:Bruce Chen
    CL:Axford

I actually really enjoy playing with this team, which is odd because I usually hate making so many changes. I think the fact that im keeping the Royals "Process" but still grabbing some stars to maybe make a 2011 playoff run MLB the show style helps.

Im 4-5 to start the season, actually dropped 5 in a row after my first win, but have finally got the bats flowing in the last games. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

I wanted to walk into the bear's den, the AL East, with an average team, and see how long it took my to get to the playoffs. I was hoping 3 years. Luckily, the Yankees were sub .500. That, along with the Red Sox winning like 112 games, keeping Baltimore and Tampa in the loss column.
Good stuff...Im at about 100 or so games in my bosox franchise. What are some of the big names in free agency?

Hanley Ramirez continues to amaze, down 2-0 at coors in the 9th and hes 0-3 for the game, he hits the game tying single as part of a 4 run ninth to win the game and up the hit streak to 46 games

Well, the Rangers season comes to an end. We were up 2 games to 1 and the Tigers won 3 in a row, winning game 6, 8-3. We had 6 xtrabase hits and 13 hits, but just couldn't score any runs. We left 8 RISP. Just not a good game.

Tigers went on to beat the Diamondbacks 4 games to 2. So the Wildcard Tigers are World Series Champions.

Rangers lost Darren Oliver and Arthur Rhodes to retirement.

Hopefully I can nab a key free agent.

This second season has been a definate struggle especially at the top of the rotation as Garza and Big Z both are performing sub-par.
Fielder has proven to be a worthy signing as well as Punto who has started at 2B for me ever since Barney tore his knee up.
I am a week away from the All-Star Break and am 42-43. 4.5 out of the wild card.
Barney just came ack and Im hoping Big Z and Garza can get it going. If that happens I am confident we can clinch a playoff spot.
74-69 now. Just took 2 out of 3 from the WC leading Cards. I am 6 games back with 19 to go. It will be very tough to come back but I still have another 3 game series againts the Card where I really need a sweep.

Garza caught fire in the 2nd half
            14-7 3.45ERA

Fielder is 2nd in MVP Award right now.
            .310 40HR's 112RBI

My Deadline Pickup Clayton Richard is also on Fire
            12-7 2.54ERA

More Later. Now that it is summer I could finish the season really fast.

Hanley is a monster, How are you hitting with Morrison and Stanton.. I play every now and then with the Marlins and these seem to be my key guys.

Yeah, I usually play every game. I'm currently 56 games into my Tigers franchise, playing every game. I have simmed 8th or 9th innings a few times in games that were pretty much decided (either way), but that's it.

                            few players to draft?

i did not find an answer anywhere so i hope its fine to post it here:

i'm in my 2nd year with my franchise and i notice that i just draft 4 players each time for the first year draft... i mean, shouldn't there be more prospects to draft? do i have to use another db? (i use the default one...)

I have played every game so far with the padres, I am currently 28-21 tied for second in the NL west with the D-backs and 6 games back from first which is held by the Giants. At the same time me and the d-backs are battling for one of the WC spots. its very interesting with this team, Will Venable has been a monster of late hitting .305 with 14 homeruns (third in the league) Also Mat Latos has been pitching well for me 6-1 with a 1.92 ERA and leads the league in K's its a fun team to use, just easy team to struggle with also.

Nah. It's not for me. I want to play multiple seasons. No way I could play multiple seasons playing all 162 games. Playing just one game per series I'll probably won't get through more than 2 seasons before NCAA releases.
