Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

I'm currently 12-8 with the Cardinals, 1.5 games back of the Cubbies.

I traded Berkman and 2 prospects to the Mets for Jose Reyes.

Then traded Ryan Theriot, Jake Westbrook and a prospect for Michael Young.

Released Brian Tallet and Gerald Laird.

Signed Jim Edmonds (always do), Russ Springer and Jeff Weaver (put into rotation).

Then created Matt Stroehmer to play 3B (myself).

Rotation:
Wainwright
Carpenter
Garcia
Lohse
Weaver

Bullpen:
Springer
Motte
Boggs
Miller
McClellan
Franklin (CP)

1B: Pujols
2B: Young
3B: Stroehmer
SS: Reyes
LF: Holliday
CF: Edmonds
RF: Rasmus
C: Molina

Bench:
Schumaker
Freese
Hill (C)

Im 34-36 with the Twins. We're batting .245 with an ERA of 3.57. Every time my team is about to the .500 mark, I end up losing. The white sox lead the division with 41-30 record and im in 2nd place 6.5 games back.
my team sucked defensively playing 3rd and I was in need of a good glove and just my luck, the rangers placed michael young on the trading block. I picked him up and we've been playing pretty good after.
STATS
1. Mauer - .244/4 hr/ 28 rbi ( had an ugly start, seems to be getting back)
2.
Kubel - .325/ 15 hr/ 25 rbi
3. Morneau - .271/18hr/ 36 rbi
4.M. Young- .295/ 13 hr/ 46 rbi ( not all me )

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

I started a 30 team franchise with the Nationals while waiting for OS rosters. I enjoyed playing with their team enough to convince me to start my 'official' franchise with the Nationals. Since I made that decision, I didn't want to keep playing as the Nats because I hate replaying games - it takes away the enjoyment for me. So I bopped around both leagues playing with different team getting a good feel for sliders (which I have down pat now). I then decided to sim to the post-season.

The 8 teams that made it were: CWS/BOS, DET/TEX, FLA/SD and PHI/STL - I didn't look at any other stats or awards.

I decided to play as the CWS vs BOS and got swept 3-0 in the ALDS. BOS won 5-3, 5-1 and 3-1 in the sweep. The games were all close, but I made a few boneheaded decisions that cost me a few runs in games 2 and 3.

I'll sim to the LCS and pick a NL & AL team to play as while waiting for the rosters. I'm hopeful PHI and TEX make it to the next round - I'd like to play with both those teams.

Just swept the D-Backs to improve to 5-1 on the year. Were some very low scoring games as again I struck out way too often and the D-Backs offense was horrific.

Gonna go one more game with the CPU hitting sliders the same as I don't know if the sliders are two easy or the D-Backs were just that bad. I'm thinking the latter as they had a pretty crappy lineup. There 3-4-5 consisted of Youk, Gomes, and Loney. Start my first road trip as the the Cubbies head up to Milwaukee to take on the undefeated Brewers.

Stats through 6 games.(Batting average, homeruns,RBI's)
Pudge Rodriguez .316/1/3
Adam Dunn .261/3/4
Dustin Pedroia .261/1/2
David Wright .227/3/4
Ryan Braun .208/1/5
Shin-Soo Choo .150/2/4 1 steal
Starlin Castro .067/0/1
Andrew McCutchen .389/4/5 2 steals

I'll update my pitching after the first month.

Yeah the dynasty area is very nice! I plan on doing a Monthly League stats roundup also. Makes it soooo easy.

Think I need to take a break from this game lol. I'm the Mets. After an ok spring training, 3-5 in games actually played by me, the rest simmed. I start the regular season and I'm 0-8!

The 1st 4 or so games I lost every game by 1 run but now the last 3 I've gotten killed. Home opener I lost 19-5 to the Nats, it was 10-0 in the 2nd inning so I started hitting batters when 1st base was open . The last game I played I lost 11-1. What to do, what to do...

Started a Rockies franchise with SCEA rosters from 3/7/11 just to hold me over until Knight's rosters drop and I can start my real franchise with the Yankees. Im going to play a few ST games and them sim to the end of ST after about 10 -15 ST games. Right now im using zone hitting, with Analog pitching and fielding. I using veteran for hitting and fielding and all star for pitching. First ST game against the D-Back's and I won 9-1. Cargo hit 2 Hr's and Ianetta hit one as well. Looks like Cargo is picking up where he left off last year

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Well after a 4-2 start for my Giants, we've lost 7 out of the last 9, falling to 6-9. Dodgers swept me at home. I had Zito-Lincecum-Cain going for those 3 games, you'd think I'd win at least 1 right? Nope. Pablo had 2 throwing errors in Game 1, that really did me in. Game 2 and Game 3, Lincecum and Cain pitched OK, just couldn't get the run support.

Then, the D-Backs take 2 out of 3 from me. Game 1, Johnathan Sanchez pitches a CG SHO, 4 hits, 0 BB, 7 K's, I win 5-0, all 5 runs coming in the 1st. I'm really licking my chops now as I see Zach Duke and Armando Galarraga lined up for the next 2 games. So much for that. Duke pitches a 3 hit CG SHO, I lose 7-0 (it was 2-0 in the 8th when my bullpen blew up). Galarraga? No hit me through 7. Lost 1-0.

I don't know what the heck happened to my hitting, like, seriously. I had a lot of perfect swings but my balls just weren't finding the right spots, nothing but ground outs and liners for outs. That of course led to me pressing and striking out more lol.

Right now the only 3 guys hitting for me are Posey, Sandoval, and Tejada to some extent. Torres and Sanchez had good starts but are in huge slumps, and when your #1 and #2 hitters aren't getting on base, well that's a problem. I'm getting zero production from my corner OF spots. Cody Ross is 4-38 on the season, no RBI's, I've been benching him lately for the most part. Pat Burrell sucks. DeRosa is a double play machine.

I'm making big changes to my lineup for the next series in Colorado. Hopefully Coors will help me get my bats going again lol.

I guess i'll have to find a new team...

By far the most overrated award in all of sports. Jeter won last year based entirely off of reputation. Any baseball expert will tell you that he didn't deserve it.

Bah! Jeter had a very good defensive season. His bat sucked last year. I do agree, he was an all-star but shouldn't have been. Overrated? No way! He's broke almost all Yankee hitting records and that in it self is amazing!
