Yadi is my most often injured player. He's been on the DL 3 times in the season and a half i've played, and he missed most of last season. I don't think I'll re-sign him because he's not as durable as his major league self.
I picked Hawksworth up off waivers, the Dodgers were sending him down and I grabbed him for my Cubs Pen. I have a couple young relievers and just in case they start to falter I'll have him for backup.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

I just finished May in my Mets franchise. It's a good season so far. We finished the month with a 17-10 record. Just some quick rundown of events so far. Ike Davis is scorching hot. Carlos Beltran got injured for 2 weeks (of course). Daniel Murphy broke his leg and is out for months. These are the stats so far.

        Angel Pagan - .208 AVG 1HR 8 RBI 10 SB
        Jose Reyes - .350 AVG 3HR 15 RBI 12 SB
        David Wright - .252 AVG 3HR 13 RBI
        Carlos Beltran - .227 AVG 0HR 8 RBI 4 SB
        Ike Davis - .304 AVG 10HR 21 RBI
        Jason Bay - .283 AVG 7HR 19RBI (I almost traded...may still do it..LOL)
        Ronny Paulino - .258 AVG 0HR 4 RBI
        Brad Emaus - .313 AVG 1HR 15 RBI (GREAT!!!..very clutch so far)

Now as for my pitching, it's off and on. I NEED PITCHING, especially bullpen help!!!

        Johan Santana - 5-1 w/ 4.06 ERA
        Mike Pelfrey - 3-3 w/ 2.61 ERA
        Ben Sheets - 3-0 w/ 2.20 ERA
        Jon Niese - 3-0 w/ 2.36 ERA
        R.A. Dickey - 1-2 w/ 7.27 ERA

        K-Rod - 11 SV w/ 2.87 ERA

Ive actually gone back to timing and raised contact to 7, through a very limited test it seems to be working out well but only time will tell. I dont want to just hammer the ball but when Im ranked 17th in average and hitting .219, dead last in baseball, thats a problem but hopefully raising contact will fix this. I figure if it gets too easy at 7 then I'll lower timing so I miss a little more and that should even it out.

Have you tried changing the camera angle?? I know another OS poster started a thread about changing the camera angle to the offset inside part of the plate. Really opens up the plate more and you can see balls come out of the pitchers hand better.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

16 games into the season with the Yankees and I'm sitting pretty atop the AL East with a 11-5 record, solely as a result of current 4-game winning streak.

              March 31st: W v. Tigers (6-5)
              - Soriano almost blew this for me in the 8th. We had a 5-3 lead, and he allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and a walk... but ARod homered in the bottom of the 8th to make it 6-5 and Rivera shut the door with a perfect 9th.

              April 2nd: W v. Tigers (5-0)
              - Amazing outing from AJ, striking out 8 in 6 innings. ARod homers in his second consecutive game.

              April 3rd: W v. Tigers (6-3)
              - 3 games, 3 HRs for Rodriguez. Hughes goes 7, allowing one run. Pope (who was outstanding in ST) came in for the 9th, up 5-1, but allowed two runs. Rivera got the final out for his second save of the season.

              April 4th: L v. Twins (6-3)
              - Despite a 4th consecutive game with a home run from ARod, the Yankees lost their first game of the season. Nova was not sharp, allowing 4 runs in 6.0+ IP on 9 hits. Freddy Garcia allowed another 2 runners to score in his two innings of work.

              April 5th: L v. Twins (5-4)
              - Game 5 of the season, homers 5 AND 6 for ARod - who is now hitting .600 on the season. But Joba Chamberlain was off all game, allowing 4 runs, 7 hits, and two walks over his 5 innings of work. The Twins worked the count well, and Chamberlain threw 105 pitches just to get through the 5th. Nick Blackburn was outstanding for the Twins, going 8 innings allowing just 2 runs. The Yankees scored two off Nathan in the 9th, but it wasn't enough to come back.

              April 6th: W v. Twins (8-0)
              - Huge outing for Sabathia, who went 8 innings, allowing 7 hits and no runs, striking out 6. For the first time in 2011, Alex Rodriguez did not hit a home run. Gustavo Molina, playing in his first game with the Yankees, went 2-4 with a 2-run blast off Liriano.

              April 7th: W v. Twins (6-1)
              - AJ goes 7 innings, striking out 6, and allowing just one run.

              April 8th: L @ Red Sox (7-6)
              - Hughes had it... and then he lost it. Amazing through 4 (1 run on 2 hits), he allowed 3 in the 5th and 2 in the 6th (without recording an out).

              April 9th: W @ Red Sox (4-2, 10 innings)
              - The Yankees needed a good outing from Nova, and they got it. 7.2 IP, 5H, 2 R, 0 BB, 8 K.The Yankees had their chances in the late innings, but they took a 2-2 tie into the 10th... where the Red Sox had 3 errors in the inning leading to two Yankees runs, and the 4-2 win.

              April 10th: L @ Red Sox (6-4)
              - A poor outing from Joba (5.0 IP, 9H, 5ER) gave the Yankees little chance to win. The Red Sox throughout, and the Yankees put up little fight.

              April 12th: W v. Orioles (10-2)
              - Sabathia stops the bleeding again, and the Yankees bats burst to life. Sabathia didn't have his best stuff, allowing 2 runs in 6 innings on 6 hits, but it was more than enough for the win.

              April 13th: L v. Orioles (16-12)
              - AJ scratched due to back stiffness. No one pitched well, with Colon spot starting (5 IP, 3 ER) and Pope in relief (0.1 IP, 6H, 4 ER). Still, the Yankees were in a place to take the ugly win, up 10-8 in the 8th. Enter Soriano... exit lead. Soriano records just one out, allowing 7 hits, and 8 runs. Ugly, ugly game.

              April 14th: W v. Orioles (6-2)
              - The Yankees needed a big outing from Hughes (with the majority of the bullpen unavailable) - and they got it to the tune of 7 innings pitched, 7 K's and just one run allowed. The Orioles were sloppy, committing 5 errors enroute to 5 of the Yankees 6 runs.

              April 15th: W v. Rangers (3-1)
              - Another outstanding outing from Nova against a really tough Rangers lineup. He was in line for a complete game shut out before allowing a double to Murphy in the 9th with two outs. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, and just a two run lead, the Yankees summoned Rivera from the pen, who ended the threat and the game. (8.2 IP, 7H, 1ER, 1BB, 8K for Nova)

              April 16th: W v. Rangers (3-1)
              - With rumors that he would be sent down with another disappointing start (Millwood has been dealing in AAA), Chamberlain stepped up in a big way. He couldn't seem to get people to swing and miss (just 1 K in 7 innings), but allowed only 3 hits and one run. Soriano pitched a clean, but not perfect (2H, 1BB) 8th, and Rivera got the Rangers 1-2-3 in the 9th.

              April 17th: W v. Rangers (5-2)
              - The Yankees score 5 runs on 5 hits, while the Rangers can only scratch across 2 on 9 hits; the Yankees didn't win this game as much as the Rangers lost it. Not sharp, Sabathia went 7, allowing 9 hits, 2 runs, and walked 1 (versus only 3 K's).

I'm loving the way this is unfolding. I'm just a game up on the Red Sox (10-6) and 1.5 on the Rays (10-7). Rodriguez has been amazing (.383, 10HR, 18 RBI) and the rest of the line-up has been really really solid. My starting pitching, save 1 start by Nova and 2 by Joba, has been unbelievable... but my pen has been awful outside of Robertson and Rivera, who have yet to allow a run. Logan has also been pretty solid - but some changes might have to be made (Soriano has an ERA over 21.00...)

Anyway, thanks to all those who gave input during my ST battles - and anyone who stuck through reading all of that! Now I'm off to see if I can take down Morrow and Drabek in my two-game set against the Jays.

Marino- What's up. I can't wait to get to the All Star break in my Red Sox franchise (bout 20 gms to go). I play every game though.
What team are you?! What in the world happened to the Rangers...I assume so injuries? Also, the Tigers are much better in my franchise. The yanks & Sox have a good battle atop the AL East. The yanks are 12.0 Games ahead of anyone in the AL East for me unfortunately...they're unreal but I seem to hit the big dog CC well.

Just finished up my 3 game series against the Red Sox (May 13th to May 15th) and ended up sweeping them in a great series.

Here are the stats for the series:

Interesting Trade on May 15th. I was hoping to maybe snag Garza at the trade deadline if my rotation was struggling from the Cubs but it looks like the Giants beat me to it.

Here is a little highlight from Game 3 of the series. Nunez helped the Yankees complete the sweep against the Red Sox with some stellar defense and a huge 3 run HR in the bottom of the 7th with the Game ties at 2. His HR gave the Yankees a 5-2 lead and that was the way the game ended.

Here are the standings on May 16th. Red Sox, Yankees (me) and Ray tied for 1st in the AL East. Play the Rays next.

I am the Dodgers. The Yankees have lost but 7 games in the last month and a half, really have come back in that division.

Started messing around with the fantasy drafts using Knight's Opening Day rosters, and decided to stick with experimenting on this franchise.

Using the Giants, I'm through the month of March either playing the game or Sportscast Manager. 11-16 record

                        Batting:

                        Cameron Maybin .343 AVG/9 HR/24 RBI , 1.073 OPS
                        Matt Diaz .257/1/10, .716 OPS
                        Chris Carter (A's prospect) .225/5/12, .666 OPS
                        Travis Hafner .219/4/8, .648 OPS
                        Ryan Roberts .226/1/5, .582 OPS
                        Pedro Ciriaco .329/4/9, 1.023 OPS
                        Brett Lawrie .246/2/5, .716 OPS
                        Nick Hundley, .189/0/8, .553 OPS

                        Mike Morse .185/3/6, .797 OPS
                        Gregor Blanco .231/0/3 .528 OPS
                        Hank Conger .262/0/2 .612 OPS
                        Bobby Crosby .242/0/2 .669 OPS
                        Chris Getz .273/0/0 .636 OPS

                        Pitching:

                        Tim Lincecum 2-4, 3.46 ERA, 49 Ks
                        Clayton Kershaw 1-4, 3.75 ERA, 32 Ks
                        Stephen Strasburg 1-1, 4.45 ERA, 44 Ks
                        Francisco Liriano 2-1, 2.43 ERA, 37 Ks
                        Jacob Turner 1-3, 4.39 ERA, 21 Ks

                        Koji Uehara 0-0, 1.29 ERA, 5 Ks
                        Sergio Romo 1-1, 3.29 ERA, 10 Ks
                        Arthur Rhodes, 0-0, 2.25 ERA, 4 Ks
                        Eduardo Sanchez, 1-1 0.75 ERA, 9 Ks
                        Aroldis Chapman 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 13 Ks
                        Joaqiun Benoit, 0-0, 1.13 ERA, 8 Ks
                        Rafael Soriano 1-1, 5.14 ERA, 6 Ks, 5 Saves

My first 5 picks were Lincecum/Kershaw/Strasburg/Liriano/Turner. Then I went relievers, and then finally decided to work on the lineup. The pitching is way dominant, but more often than not I am frustrated with the lack of pop in the offense. Lincecum being 2-4 so far is ridiculous, considering he has only had one bad start and the rest have all been fantastic. If it weren't for Maybin and Ciriaco (easily the surprise so far this year), my team could easily be 5 wins worse, because those two have RAKED so far.

32 games in and sitting in 2nd place in the AL Central with the White Sox.

18-14 record so far behind the 21-10 Tigers.
Minny is just behind me 16-14, then KC (15-15) and finally Cleveland (13-17).

My pitching is above average (3.77 ERA 11th) and my pen is doing a masterful job. ERA under 2.00 for each of my MRP, SU, CL.

My offense is doing better (.251 avg good for 21st) especially with my 1st place in walks as a team !!! (I'm averaging 3.90 BB / game).

                          A. Dunn (9 HR) is my power threat with Konerko (5HR).
I've smacked 29 HR in 32 games which seem to me less than the real White Sox could do. But maybe power will show up.

Many players got injured so far.
Alexei Ramirez, my starting SS is still out for the next month. (15 games missed so far)
Omar Vizquel got injured a few days but had come back.
Floyd and Danks got both injured in their last start during the first inning. (Floyd got 2 outs and then got injured, Danks threw 1 pitch and I had to replace him...)

Finished 1st season with Texas Rangers. Went a God aweful 53-109. Red Sox played the Braves in the World series and won in 7 Games. Currently in Spring Training of second season hoping to get better. Lineups I think wil happen at start of season (after that season all need to earn spot except maybe Kinsler). By the way I play on MOM. I MOM 1 game then Sports cast simulate 3. I keep this pattern up all season long.

                            C- Torrealba/Stewart(aquired in Rule 5
                            1b- Moreland/Napoli
                            2b-Kinsler/Blanco
                            SS- Andrus/Quintanilla
3b- Young/Freese(aquired in deadline deal along with A prospect pitching Carlos Martinez for Adrian Beltre
                            OF- Hamilton/Engel Beltre/Cruz
Also picked up Francouer, Ludwick,Mench and Jai Miller in Free Agency

                            SP- Webb
                            SP- Capuano (Free Agency)
                            SP- Hunter
                            SP- Lewis
                            SP- Feldman

RP- Feliz/ODay/and a bunch of somebodys trying to fill out a week bullpen

Free Agent Market was scarce as you can see. Somehow Phillies got Lincecom

I lost 2 of 3 to the Angels, as my offense has become stagnant. Scoring 1 run a game isn't going to win too many games.

Karstens faced off against Mathis and the Rangers. Mathis was 0-6 with a 7.75 ERA, with no quality starts in 13 starts, yet somehow is still in the rotation for Texas. He pitched well for 3 innings, but I managed to score 4 in the 4th thanks to a Michael Young error. Young redeemed himself by making 3 diving plays to rob me of hits, but the 4 runs were enough for a 4-1 win. Karstens continues to pitch well, allowing 1 run on 4 hits in 7 innings against a Texas team that leads the majors with 102 home runs.

I claimed RP Justin Souza off outright waivers from the A's. He has good stats from AAA, and will fill out the bullpen in Memphis for now. If Hochevar continues to struggle, he might get a shot to take his spot as long reliever.

I'm new to OS, but this looks like a cool place to post threads. Anyway, I'm currently 14-10 in my Yankees franchise. Got swept by both Boston and Chicago (AL) and are the only teams I haven't beaten yet.

I am just curious what you all do for minor league games? My tendency is usually to play all April games just so I can get a feel for all the pitching and hitting tendencies and styles in case I need injury replacements or call-ups. Then I sim the minor league games for the rest of the season.

It's slow going, as I am still only at the end of April in my franchise, but that's what works for me. I'm just interested in hearing how everyone else manages their minor league teams.
