Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

I'm currently 15-16 with Twins. Jason Kubel seems to be a beast! at the plate belting 12 hrs in April with .333 average. The first month with Mauer seemed to be a struggle only batting .213 due to uncertainty with the difficulty. Liriano's fastball is pretty sharp landing me in the top 5 in AL in strikeouts. All-Star seems to give me a hard time.
    Any difficulty suggestions?

I started a Nationals franchise while waiting for the rosters. I have to say the Nats are an extremely fun team to play with! I'm essentially playing 1 game a series to see how I enjoy this method of play as I want to get multiple seasons completed.

We are sitting 7-4 - I'm 2-2 thus far. I just pitched back to back combined shutouts against the Mets and Phillies.

I was in a pitcher's duel against the Phils (Halladay/Strasburg) until Halladay hung a slider to LaRoche who belted it to RF for a solo shot. Stasburg dominated, going 7 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 9 K (103 pitches). Halladay was on early, but after he gave up the HR, he started nibbling a little more and we knocked him out after 5.1 IP and a 2-run HR from Werth.

Halladay is struggling in the season thus far: 0-3, 4.96 ERA, 3 BB, 12 K

I usually play as the Dodgers, but I'm seriously considering playing as the Nationals. It will be a challenge and I love their ball park. I'll also be doing an A's franchise. This game is so much fun.

I cannot get any offense going. Just lost my home opener 1-0 against the Giants. Chase Headley is the only Padre who can seem to get something going. Luddy is just a gaping hole in the lineup. I had Bottom 9th, runners on first and third with one out, and Luddy grounded into a game ending double play. Sounds like real life.

Just started my Phillies franchise and couldn't seem to get anything going on the offense. We lost 4-0, Halladay and 7 innings and gave up 2 earned runs 1 off a solo homer by Clint Barmes. In the Nineth I just couldn't pitch gave up 2 runs with Danny Baez and had 3 walks and 1 K. While Jose Contrease pitched and and 3 K's in a row but then allowed 1 hit and got a double play the next pitch to end the inning.

I had some bright spots if it wasn't for the wind blowing back I would of had 3 hr's, my luck I guess, and Placido Polanco was 3-4 all singles.

Next Game I have Cliff Lee on the mound so I hope to get my first win of the season. This is my practice franchise that I'm doing before Knight's rosters come out.

You're near .500 with the Twins, have 12 HR's with Kubel, and are in the top 5 in strikeouts with a strikeout pitcher and want to make the game easier???!!!

I only WISH my stats look that realistic when I start my real franchise!

Leave it alone. Based on what you posted, so far so good. Only tweak sliders if TEAM numbers look skewed. Don't worry about the players.

Haha exactly. At least you're not 0-4 hitting around the Mendoza line.

I did a sim of the entire first season of my franchise just for fun (Not going to save the changes) and the Phillies finished dead last in the National League in terms of record.

Yea, you're right... can't complain im now 17-19 starting to catch fire with Mauer... moved my BA to .245
What difficulty do you play in Herosandvillians and how are you doing in the game? I tried playing a series in rookie for fun vs the red sox and they killed me with a .356 average for the series.

7-7 with my Brewers. Stumbled out of the gates. Went 1-2 against Cincy, split a 4 game set with Atlanta, and then went 1-2 against the Cubbies. 4-6 was not my ideal start.

Pittsburgh was up next. I hammered them in the first two games of the series. I scored a combined 22 runs (11 in each game) to their 3. Then I lost the last game of the 3 game set 7-6. Friggin Kameron Loe gives up a 2-run lead changing shot to Ronny Cedeno in the bottom of the eighth. 6-7 after that. Then I tomahawked Washington 17-6 to get back to .500.

So-so start so far. Bullpen and defense have been real killers so far, just as I expect they'll be in real life.

Heck! worst things have happened in real life.
Also let me just say that if people truly want to keep it realistic they won't have Stephen Strasburg pitch this season.

Agree.. only way of going 100% realistic is playing only 1 game a day(i couldnt do it) and keep updating all 30 teams as it goes by just like Jim416 does every year, not my cup of tea.

Good Lord. Just got done with a slugfest against the Yankees. Beckett on the bump against Freddy Garcia. Back and forth all freaking game, but to sum it up:

                              Ellsbury: 4-5, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 2B, 1 SB
                              Pedroia: 3-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 SB
                              Crawford: 4-5, 3 R, 4 RBI, 2 2B, 2 HR (Player of the Game)
                              Gonzo: 3-5, 1 R, 1 RBI
                              Youkilis: 1-5, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 HR
                              Ortiz: 4-5, 2 R, 4 RBI, 1 2B, 2 HR

Additional notables: Salty had a double and a bomb, 2 RBI's and 2 runs.

Beckett got shelled for 8 runs (4 earned) over 5 IP, Aceves came in and gave up a 3 run bomb to A-Rod (1 IP, 3 ER), Andrew Miller and Bobby Jenks combined for 3 IP, 1 ER, 5 K's.

I scored at least 1 run in every single inning, which they said was only done 5 times in the American League in history, most recently in 1998 by the Royals. Pretty cool that they noticed a crazy stat like that and mentioned it along with the history of it.

                              Sox win, 14-12.

Ended up taking 1/3 from the Yankees, then took 2/3 from the Rays. Currently .5 games out of 1st place in the East with a record of 7-5.
