You need to establish another username that differs from the one you're using to control your team under User Settings - this would have been called Profile last year.

For example, you'd create Smitty as your username and fine tune your options for operating your team. Then you would create CPU and fine tune the options to AUTO so that the AI takes over.

When you start a franchise, you'd select Smitty for your team and CPU for the remaining 29 teams. You'll still have the right to veto trades (make sure Instant Trade is set to OFF). And don't forget to look at the pending transactions list while in franchise - this is where you'll see trade offers pending.

And one more tip: use Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread for questions/answers

I'm lost. I have pitching difficulty on Veteran, and I'm getting lit up. There is always 1 big inning where no matter what happens, they get 5 runs. It's frustrating.

just saw the Marlins sign Bengie Molina from the free agency pool. They placed Gaby Sanchez on the 60 day DL after he tore his ACL.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Finally getting the hang of analog hitting - hit 2 HRs in my last game against the Red Sox (A-Rod, off Lester - Jeter, off Beckett) in ST. Also, I love that even "lower power" guys like Ramiro Pena (3-R shot in extra innings to win a game against the Rays) can square up and crush one if a ball is left in the sweet spot.

Now I'm starting to look into trades - I absolutely love how much more difficult trading is this year! Just for kicks, I looked at acquiring Felix Hernandez... ZERO interest for Jesus Montero, Manny Banuelos, and Dellin Betances (or any other combination of A-rated prospects in this roster set). I even tried Phil Hughes, Montero, and Banuelos... nothing there either. I really like how much more realistic the game is now.

A combination of Joba Chamberlain and Austin Romine (B-potential) can net me a solid mid-to-back end SP - the Giants would consider sending Jonathan Sanchez, the Phillies would absolutely send Joe Blanton. Nothing I'm ecstatic about yet, but as I said, it's a much more realistic experience now!

About ready to start a Fantasy Drafted Franchise with my hometown Phillies (note, I am a Pirates fan, I just live near Philly). I have a lot of trouble fantasy drafting, my teams usually end up young and towards the bottom of team overall rankings. Anybody have any tips?

I'm getting so mad with this game! I'm 5-11. My pitching is inconsistent (but coming around) but now my offense has gone cold. Ice cold. I feel hopeless. Lol.

Stick with it. 162 is a lot of games. In 09 I started 6-19 with the O's. Finished about 2 games under .500. It was a very fun season.

This is where I am, I've gone from not being able to make it out of the first without giving up a run to perfect through 3 seven times out of ten, and scoreless till maybe the 5th or 6th. I am having trouble hitting, so I decided to go to the old 1/4th guess to teach myself to be patient. If I don't guess the pitch or the location right I don't swing ever until I have 2 strikes on me. That has helped me big time. I'm considering that my training wheels, once I become more patient, I'll go to the defaults and try and make it work.

Really well, and really bad. I couldn't be happier with the diversity of my games.

I field (auto, manual throw) on veteran for now. So I'm not seeing a ton of unearned runs. But, a very realistic amount.

You'll get better with pitching. It's starting to click with me.

A piece of advice: after the first time through the order, 'pitch history' is your friend. It's essential in getting out of jams.

Even when you're hitting. Try it. It's worth a shot, right?

Thanks for the help guys I'm 8-12. Just dismantled Seattle 13-0 in the rubber match to take the series. Next up I have a series agaisnt Chicago, who I am traling by 3 games. Can't wait to play my first night game at Comerica Park.

I had a quality start with Coke, and then 7 2/3 scoreless with Penny to close out of the Seattle series. Bullpen was good.

I'm starting to hit with Jackson again. I took Magglio out of my lineup (.180) and replaced him in RF with Boesch, who is leading my team with 15 RBIs. Raburn is in LF and hitting third in front of Cabrera. If I can get all my guys clicking at the same time, my lineup will be dominant.

Finally starting to enjoy the game. It's hard when your team ERA is 7. Lol.

Do sliders affect the gameplay during spring training? Ive seem to increase everything for my offense and still get to pop up all the good pitches. I have scored less than 7 runs in my 8 games as the yankees. Im using timing on all star. Ive lost all the games and im 0-8

Picked the cubs for the hell of it on All-star hitting/pitching. I did good with Zambrano until the bullpen blew it for me and lost 4-3, game 2 I lost 4-1, and thought I had it with game 3 with Garza. The score was 4-1 and Garza gave up 4 runs in the 5th inning and my bullpen gave up 2 runs in the 6th inning to make it 7-4 loss. I got swept by the Pirates. I now feel how the cubs feel and I can tell this 162 game season will be a long one.
