I just don't want to get burned again, you know. That is a lot of time just down the tubes. Which is the only thing I used 30 team control for. Once I started over I would just hit auto fix and move on.
I didn't run into the invalid roster freeze last year, although I did run into the 2013 glitch. But the cpu still fills out his roster and is still competitive, so I just roll with it.

Gonna spend a couple of hours practcing, play some play now games, then hopefully try not to rot too badly with my mets.

I may just start shopping everyone, right out of the gate.

Light the entire roster on fire, get some quality arms, and just reboot the entire franchise.

I usually just take guys that I like and who actually have a MLB team hat on. I will not take people with the MLB The Show fake hat!

For instance, I would never take:

            Alfonso Soriano
            Alex Rodriguez
            Miguel Cabrera
            Brian Mccann
            Adrian Gonzalez
            Pablo Sandoval
            David Ortiz
            Joba Chamberlain
            Jeff Samardzija

            Many others!

I'm really excited to do the draft tonight! I'll be sure to see if anybody has out a roster with some top prospects in it. I'll definitely download the Bryce Harper CAP

I started a Baltimore franchise a couple nights ago since I don't want to start my Reds one until the rosters are out. I wanted to stay out of National League staduims and play in the better American League parks while playing with a rotation similar to the Reds, but despite being 6-3 and in second in the AL East I am already losing interest because I am not a fan of any of the players.

I never thought of this and this actually sounds like a much better idea to kill time and practice until the rosters are out. This will let me play in Fenway with a non-stacked team of players I like or players with a unique common charastic (all players from the same college or something goofy to keep it interesting).

because it auto saves after each round.

I played a couple of ST games just to see what I was going to use settings wise for the analog controls and then jumped into the regular season with the Orioles.

Matsuz pitched a great second game against the Rays for my first win of the season. The rest of the O's staff is questionable at best IMO which is making it tough. The last 3 games have been losses. I am getting rocked in the first inning. Overall 1-4 on the season. Time to eat some lunch and then start the series with the Rangers.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

I started a franchise with the Cardinals (Like I always do) and the first thing I did was shop Pujols around because he will not be on my 2011 roster or the forseable future for the birds. I spent alot of time shopping him around (about 2 hours) looking for the right deals and got a couple that are very intriguing. So here's what I came up with and these deals should take as the trade bar is almost completely full.

Another thing is the trade lodgic is 10x better this year because some teams didn't wanna parts ways with their furture star for Pujols. Example, the Mariners didn't wanna give away Justin Smoak straight up for Pujols and that's great! It makes me feel they didn't wanna give up young talent for a (possibly) down slide player like Pujols. Now that doesn't mean the computer won't accept dumb trades that look weird because they will.

So anyway here are the deals that I have set-up and will most likely take, let me know which deal you like and which one would you do. Keep in mind Pujols is getting traded and I'm not keeping him.

First deal: Pujols & Molina for Ethier, Loney, & Kershaw

With this deal I get a pretty decent 1st baseman, excellent outfielder, and (at-times) dominate starting pitcher.

Second deal: Pujols for King Felix

With this deal I get a CY Young pitcher but lose a 1st baseman, which I could just put Berkman there and have a spring training battle for right field with Allen Craig and Jon Jay. Which leads me to this deal if I trade Pujols straight up for King Felix:

Berkman, Lohse, Punto for Justin Morneau

This means I lose the best player in baseball and leave 1st base open (Pujols), my 5th starter (Lohse), very good utility player with great defense(Punto), and my 5th batter in the line-up with potential good power and driving in runs but he is old(Berkman).

I do get a CY Young pitcher(Felix) and a 1st baseman that (barring injury) will florish in the national league in my line-up(Morneau).

So which deal would you do? Deal 1 or Deal 2?

Even for Pujols, that trade would be hard to do for LA. Kershaw is going to be an ace really soon.

can i ask why you want pujols out? just age and you want to grow a young lineup, or do you simply not like him.

Its a combination of everything, age, money, do not like him. Just the way he treats people here in St. Louis but we won't get into that. Who knows, I may have a change of heart and keep him but I do wanna trade him.

Just started my franchise last night. I've never actually completed a full season of any MLB game, but I just got a PS3 in December, and bought MLB 10 The Show, and have never played a game this good. Now with MLB 11, I'm definitely planning on finishing the season.

Obviously with the Sox (lifelong fan, not a bandwagon fan), I'm 3-2 right now. Took 2/3 from the Rangers, and Bard blew it in the 9th last night, so I could be 4-1 if Bard didn't get shelled. Didn't want to overuse Papelbon too early. Oh well - Tribe again tonight then a 3 game set against the Yanks. Crawford is crushing, and Ellsbury is hitting well, but that's about it. Gonzo has 2 bombs and Ortiz has 1 hit, a HR.
