Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

First week of August in my franchise, and I'm up by .5 over Houston. My pitching was awful in my last game, as I fell behind the Cubs 14-4. I gave up by the 7th, and pulled Berkman and Pujols. In the bottom of the 8th, the Cubs put in Angel Guzman, and my offense came alive. I scored 5 runs to make it 14-9, but instead of Pujols coming up with 2 on and 1 out, it was Jeff Keppinger. He hit into an inning-ending double play. Bottom 9, the Cubs inexplicably left Guzman in to start the inning. 3 pitchers later, it was 14-13, 2 on, 2 out. Keppinger came up again in place of Pujols, and this time he struck out on a Marmol slider to end the game. I'm left wondering what might have been if it had been Pujols instead of Keppinger in those situations.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Alright im back with an update to my franchise....Just a reminder to every one that im in year 1 and in the month of september with my Milwaukee team..

The last game that I played was against the Cards who have a stacked lineup. I have not played very well against them all year, and this game was definatly no exception....
the two starting pitchers were John Maine Vs Chris Carpenter

          - The game started well for us as Prince Fielder hit his 40th home run,and it was a two run blast that propelled us to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first

-Then came the fireworks...bottom of the first, the first guy singles, next guy singles, then Matt Holiday hits a 3 run homerun...next batter is Pujols and he hits a 450 foot bomb...after that is Lance Berkman and he doubles....so i took maine out and put in my long reliever Kameron Loe to try and stop the bleeding.

-That obviously didnt happen because next inning the cards score another 5 runs on a couple of well timed singles and bloopers..

          - the final score was 16-2...this was by far my biggest loss ever in MLB the Show 11..this is what i like so much about the show...the last game i played against the cards i beat them 7-0, and they couldnt stop me from getting hits, and in this game i could only muster up a couple of hits, which usually happens in real life

After the game i just thought ah well...its only one game
I am still only 1 game back from the wild card

Anyways i hope u guys enjoyed this update, ill be back with another 1 after next game

So, sometimes I feel like I want to break something. After losing three in a row, and no being able to get out some guy for Texas with the last name of Beltre - no not Adrian - I freaking lost it. This game just makes me go nuts some times.

Luckily I won three in row against the White Sox and the Rangers have lost three in a row, so we are two games up. Adam Lind is great when simming but not so much when I play with him, same with everybody though, I just can't freakin hit. Any tips on batting?

Mariners First Month MVP - Erik Bedard (3-1, 2.45 ERA), Jason Kubel (.315, 4 HR, 17 RBI)

Mariners Worst Of the Month - Ichiro (.197 AVG, 0 HR, 2 RBI), Doug Fister (1-2, 3.89 ERA)
                    EPL - Arsenal
                    MLB - Seattle Mariners
                    NBA - Cleveland Cavaliers
                    NFL - Philadelphia Eagles
                    MLS - Seattle Sounders

Oh man I know how it feels like sometimes I lose 3 have even lost 4 in a row in the past it was getting so frustrated, like I hate playing the Rays they always seem to have my number, here I am hoping I don't have to face them in the playoffs, if I even make it to the playoffs.

Anyways after losing the series opener against the White Sox, I won the next three so now it's time for my Yankees to have a three game series against the Red Sox, this is my chance to push the Red Sox down in the Playoff race since it's a three way race for first and wild card right now between me, Rays, and Red Sox
                      -------------------------------------------------------------
I lost first game of the series, very heartbreaking loss too, I was up 6-4 in the bottom of the 9th at Fenway. There were two outs than JD Drew go a single followed by a hr by Saltalamachia to tie the game followed by another home run by Jed Lowrie to end the game. Rivera's third blown save and first loss of the season, hearbreaking I thought I had that game won, especially with two outs. Now I have to face Beckett, I am now 6-4 against the Red Sox. Beckett against Pettitte and Lackey against Joel Pineiro hopefully I can win both.

AL East now looks like this:
                      Rays 70-44
                      Yankees 69-45
                      Red Sox 67-46

Finally, off the losing streak and now on a massive winning on and good news, offense is included. I swept the White Sox in four games and then good the first game against the Orioles.

The game was great for Jason Kubel, who hit two homeruns and singled twice. Dustin Ackley hit a homerun as well, but Felix Hernandez was terrible. He gave up six runs in five innings and caused a tie ballgame in the eighth, but we managed to score one and Aardsma got his 18th save.

@Mercury,dont feel bad at all man. I play as the Braves. record 22-42 last place 12 GB of the 1st place Mets.

I lost 10 or 11 games in a row. They were close games during that losing. I righted the ship sort of speak. I took 2 of 3 from the Marlins and Mets. Both teams have better records than I. I just started a 4 game set vs. the Astros. I won the 1st game 5-4.

The former Braves I bought back are playing good. Millwood 2-2 with 2.45 ERA. An. Jones .281 13HR 27RBI.
I am not going to give up. My goal is to get 87 wins. I need 65 more victories for that. My pitching is which i am best at. team ERA 3.00, top 3 in my franchise.

I've made it to the All-Star Break in my Seattle Mariners franchise and am 1 game above .500 with a 47-46 record. In the last game before the break, we lost 3 of 4 to the Angels, including the last game, which went 10 innings.

In that game I was down 2-0 with 2 outs in the 9th. Chone Figgins on first base and Justin Smoak up to bat. Jered Weaver was going for the complete game shuout, having allowed just 5 hits (Morales was a vaccum at first, taking away at least 4 base hits) and striking out 10. Down to our last strike, Smoak jumps on a Weaver changeup that was high in the zone (I had struggled with that pitch all game) and smashes it into the rightfield seats to tie the game! I went nuts with excitement, but it didn't last long as in the 10th, Brandon League threw a pickoff attempt into the stands and the Angels hit a sac fly to score the winning run.

Still, a very fun game. Looking forward to the All-Star Game. King Felix should be getting the start for the AL.

I'm playing on All-Star with a few small slider tweaks. I think I'll be bumping up Pitch Speed from 2 to 3; I think that will help my timing and reaction on changeups. They are coming in too slow at 2 and I'm way ahead of the pitch, even if I sit back and guess it is coming.

So, before I get into my franchise, I had an interesting trade scenario pop up. I would send Dustin Ackley, Fabio Castro and Erik Bedard to the Reds for Brandon Phillips, Drew Stubbs and Johnny Cueto. Interesting deal, but I'm going to do it.

So, after taking two of three from the pesky Orioles, I took the opening game at Cleveland as Bedard went 6.1 innings with one earned run on 102 pitches. Milton Bradley hit a two-run homerun in the sixth and we scored again in the eighth for a 3-2 win.

                                Seattle Mariners - 27-12
                                Texas Rangers - 25-14
                                LA Angles - 15-24
                                Oakland Athletics - 15-24

                                All Stars So Far:
                                David Aardsma - 20 Saves 0.85 ERA

                                Jason Kubel - .333 6 HR 18 RBI
