Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

    THE ROYALS ARE STREAKING!!!

My season-mode Royals team has just achieved their 10th straight loss and are 1-13 in their last 14 games. A team that was in 3rd place and only 3.5GB in mid-May at 21-23 has officially wet the bed on the 2011 season.

I play offense for all games, no simming whole games. All-star zone hitting, and I fast-forward through defensive innings.

    Highlights of the streak....

    7.4 runs allowed per game
    4 one-run losses
    5 come from ahead losses
4 losses and 1 blown save by the bullpen
6 errors leading to 17 unearned runs.

Game of the Streak: a 4-0 lead on the Twins becomes a 19-7 blowout for loss #10 in a row in a game lowlighted by a 12-run 5th for the Twinkies...in which the Twins scored all 12 runs with 2 outs. 11 runs were unearned.

I've posted threads before about aspects of the game engine that I feel may be unfair or unrealistic, but there's nothing happening here other than the fact these Royals are a terrible team. The starters are awful past Luke Hochevar, the bullpen is a colossal failure, and I can't score eight runs a night to cover it up with the Royals offense.

While the streak is miserable it will probably feel pretty awesome when I end it, kinda like the way the Detroit Lions felt when they finally won a game after that 0-16 season.

Here's the PBP of the Twins 12-run 5th for those interested:
    Vin Mazzaro pitching.
Tolbert struck out on a 2-2 fastball low and away. (1 out)
Span walked on a 3-1 pitch.
    Span stole 2nd.
Morneau flied out to Cabrera (2 outs).
Mauer flied to center for a single. Span scores. (Twins 4, Royals 4)
Thome grounded to right for a single, Mauer advances to 2nd
Kubel reaches on an E6 by Escobar. Mauer Scores. Thome advances to 3rd. (5-4)
Nishioka walked on a 3-2 pitch.
    Kyles Davies pitching for KC.
Cuddyer reaches on an E6 by Escobar. Thome scores. Kubel to 3rd. Nishioka to 2nd. (6-4)
Valencia walks on 3-0 pitch. Kubel scores. Nishioka to 3rd. Cuddyer to 2nd. (7-4)
Tolbert singles to left. Niskioka scores. Cuddyer scores. Valencia to 2nd. (9-4)
Span walks on 3-0 pitch. Valencia to 3rd. Tolbert to 2nd
Morneau grand slam to right (13-4)
    Mauer bunt single
Thome singles to center. Mauer to 2nd.
Kubel walks on a 3-2 pitch. Bases loaded.
Nishioka doubles to left. Mauer and Thome scores. Kubel to 3rd (15-4)
Cuddyer grounds out to 2nd (3 outs)

    12 runs, 1 earned, 7 hits, 5 walks, 2 errors, 2 LOB.

    You gotta love baseball....

Took game 1 of the WS 7-4. McDonald pitched 6 strong but collapsed and gave up 4 runs for a 4-3, until Dre Stubbs hit an oppo-dinger into the pool.
      Kemp for NL MVP
      Montero for AL ROY

I'm just a couple of days away from the trade deadline in my franchise, and the freaking Phillies just sold the farm to acquire both Aramis Ramirez and JOSE BAUTISTA...

I'm currently 11 games over .500 and 5 games ahead of Philly in the standings, but I'm definitely nervous now. Hopefully my addition of BJ Upton and a healthy Martin Prado will be enough to hold on.
          Now, more than ever

I dropped 3 of 4 to the pesky Fish. The game i did win was quite awesome tho. Going into the bottom of the 9th, i was down 1-0. A gem pitched by Johan, who went 9 and the only run he gave up was a 2 out double by Ricky Nolasco.

The 9th inning went like this: leadoff double by Nieunhieus, base hit by Zach Lutz. A bunt single by Reyes (I had him pinch hit just sacrafice) and then Pagan ended it with a walkoff single. Nunez faced 4 batters and retired none.

Now i travel to Washington to start September, think i am going to have some fun and play in different ballparks

Well, I am finally starting season 2 of my franchise with my Dodgers, looking to defend my NL West title.

I was booted in the first round in 5 games by the Florida Marlins who lost to Boston in the World Series.

I managed to make a few big signings and trades to change the team up and get a bit younger in needed positions.

I lost Jonathan Broxton and Rafael Furcal (2 main guys) in FA but managed to sign Jose Batista and Corey Patterson as well as acquire Jonthan Sanchez, Carlos Zambrano and J.P. Arencibia in trades.

Here is my 2012 Lineup and Pitching

Started a new Yankees franchise yesterday. Long time in a long while I haven't played MLB 11. Tons of rust with my timing and analog pitching, but it's natural.

Have it on All-Star difficulty with Perfect sliders V1.

Been playing it all day today.

Record is 4-2...got a win in my last game vs. Twins at home. Mo save it, 4-2.

So far I love how the game plays out with the sliders. Very good.

Well....my streaking Mets have been drawn back to earth.
After winning 3 in a row from Houston going 15-1 in a 16 game stretch...the N.L. West division leaders, the D-Backs handed the Mets not only their first multiple loss streak but swept the New York club handily.
No longer receiving the early season timely hitting and pitching, the Mets struggled to keep up with the DiamondBacks losing all three in the series without a fight. Even Met ace hurler Sam Hinton got in trouble early and often and Met bats were silent hitting just .200 for the three game set.
After an off day, the Mets go to Washington(5-16 last place) and Philadelphia(11-11 4th place) for two division matchups before returning back to the Polo Grounds for two home series.
Tuesdays night game features Met pitcher Bryant Walker(2-0 3.33 ERA) vs. Washington's Louis Hernandez(0-4 6.04 ERA).
