Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

I hadn't played this in about a month due to school/LA Noire taking up my time. Played a few games last night to get back into it.

Currently sitting at 32-18 in my Mets franchise. My hitting hasn't been anything to write home about, but my pitching has been just phenomenal and has carried me to many narrow, low-scoring victories. Jon Niese looks like the favorite to start the All Star Game. I haven't made a single roster move to my pitching staff, I have the same 12 guys I started with.

Sitting at 72-50 making that final push to the playoffs. Rod Barajas has been so clutch for me, in the last 10 games, he has 4 GW hits including last game against Milwaukee.

I have a Cubs Franchise going, Mid May, finally reached .500 but lost Starlin Castro for 1-2 months. I am looking for a fill in 'till he returns, was thinking about trading for Adam Everett, any idea's? Thanks

I hear ya about Soto, through Mid May he has 2 HR's 5 rbi and is hitting a robust .193. I also sent Koyie Hill down to AAA hoping someone would claim him but he made it through. I signed FA Bengie Molina for 1 year.

Welp 117 games into my O's franchise, my GD got formatted. All my game saves are gone, including my franchise.

May restart as the Marlins or someone else.

You got to be really careful with your 40 man roster the fourth offseason and any after. The first 3 years, no worries about the Rule 5 draft. After that, you'll lose some talent. I lost 5 players the 4th year.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Well...after taking 2 out of 3 to open the season at LAD, SD and STL handed my behind to me! Sitting at 4-5 with my Giants, I decided to make this post in the hopes of getting a little advice.

First: I usually play as NYY. I know their farm system relatively well. When Johnathan Sanchez went down the other day (he's day-to-day...), I realized that I literally know next to nothing about SF's farm system (incase, at some point, I need to call someone up).

Would anyone care to give me the name of a website that has little write-ups or brief scouting reports of their minor league affiliates? I know where to find stats, but I'd like a little more intimate knowledge on what players to get excited about.

I'm using Knight's rosters, by the way.

Secondly: I'm torn on how to utilize my starting lineup...and I guess to the same extent, their bullpen.

                  Here's it is:

                  Torres
                  Sandoval
                  Posey
                  Belt
                  Burrell
                  Huff
                  Tejada
                  F. Sanchez

Against LHP, I drop Belt in the order and platoon Huff with Cody Ross (is it just me, or does Ross rake in this game?!).

Here's the thing...this team shockingly lacks speed! For an NL team, it's stunning how slow they are (minus Torres and Sanchez).

I hate to turn this all "Red-Soxy"...but I'd love some lineup/platooning advice. Really, only Sandoval and Huff are consistently hitting...so I'm all ears in attempting to optimize this batting order.

Also, has anyone had any luck calling up Brandon Crawford?

Leadoff with tejada, and even though it doesn't make sense ratings wise start rowand over torres.

I started a franchise with the Royals, because i wanted to have a challenge and i didnt use the OSFM. I only made 2 trades and tried to keep it real, but after all it is my franchise and im not shooting for realism.
                        First Trade:
                        Royals(me) get:
                        SP- Drabek

                        Blue Jays get:
                        SP- Hochevar
                        SP/LR- Davies.

                        Second Trade:
                        Royals(me) get:
                        LF-Dunn

                        WhiteSox get:
1 A prospect RP( they were asking for RP)
                        2 B prospects

I started my first game vs. The Angels and it started out a bit rough with the Angels getting 2nd and 3rd with one out, but Drabek struck out the next two to get out of the jam. When the Royals came up the started out good with bases loded with one out and Wilson Betimit Sacrificed to deep left and scored Escobar but Billy Butler didnt wait long enough to tag up and was doubled off. Drabek and Weaver went into a duel for a few innongs until the 5th when Bryan Pena hit a solo shot, and later in the 7th Billy Butler had a 2 out 2 RBI double. That was all that Drabek needed as he wen 8 full innings throwing 94 pitches. Joakim Soria shut the door in the 9th getting the Angels to go 1 2 3 and to seal the Royals opening day win.

Decided to start over. Gonna be the Marlins. Would've been boring to use my O's again. I'm going to try to find a lefty starting pitcher in FA after 1st month or so.

Will post updates monthly or so like with the O's hope I can get through this one. Thanks and sorry to those that followed My Orioles Franchise.

Jed Lowrie (Boston) - he will make a great utility infielder when Castro comes back or you could have him play 2B. He is also a switch hitter.

Yamaico Navarro (Boston) - one of Bostons top 10 prospects. Was tearing up AAA before getting injured.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Just started my Marlins franchise tonight so I can mix it up between my Giants chise. I know I've said befor somewhere on the forums, but I absolutely love Emu(Emilio Bonifacio). He hits leadoff for me and in my opening day game against the Mets he had 3 of our 6 hits, drove in 1 of our 2 runs, and stole two bases.

Also got 8 innings of 1 run 7k ball from Johnson which was much needed because of Santana's 7.1inn 1 run performance.

Coghlan also drove in a 2 out run in the 8th to tie it right before the triple from Emu that scored him from first to give us the late lead, and final score of 2-1.

On a related note I can't really explain it but I have tended to hit with good power with Emu on this game. 4 hrs in about 6-7 games with the Marlins previous to this franchise.

Anyone else have good success with Emu? Also need to pick up a lefty reliever somewhere, would be willing to deal Sinkbiel (was planning to send him down anyway for Jose Ceda). Thanks for any imput.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Just played the dumbest couple of innings in recent memory:

                                2nd inning
                                - Matt Kemp doubles and reaches third on error
                                - James Loney singles and advances to second on the throw (Matt Kemp out at home)

Stupid to try and go home with NONE OUT, but I thought Kemp was faster than he reacted on the base paths. This pales into insignificance compared to what happened in inning six...

                                6th inning
                                - Rod Barajas doubles
                                - Rafael Furcal safe on sacrafice bunt error, Rod Barajas to third
                                - Tony Gwynn Jnr safe at first on fielder's choice, Rod Barajas out at home, Rafael Furcal out at second
                                - Tony Gwynn Jnr picked off

                                Un-fkn-believable.

Barajas was running on contact, which was probably a dumb thing considering it was a dribbler that the fielder was able to pick up. I tried to send him back to third base, but accidentally sent ALL RUNNERS back, hence Furcal being doubled off at second. The pick off was just unlucky

The Astros homered the next inning to take a 2-1 lead. Playing bottom of the 7th now. I will be so annoyed if I lose this.
