Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

uhh seems like the trading in this game is a little messed up. i started a franchise season with the braves my favorite team and i wanted to get rid of chipper jones for a 3B to develop over time. i left ignore budgets off so the cap is still in effect and this is the trade i got which is amazing to me...

    BRAVES GIVE:
    Chipper Jones (age 38)

GIANTS GIVE: (all their potential is rated at A)
    Pablo Sandoval / 3B (age 24)
Madison Bumgarner / SP (age 21)
Sergio Romo / RP (age 27)

I'm playing my Pirates Franchise. I'll play here and there when I want to and I saw the Bucs were playing the Nats and Ross Detwiler was on the bump for the Natinals. So, I played the game. I walked Zimmerman in the 1st inning and did not allow a damn hit until with one out in the 9th when Ian Desmond decided he'd be an a****** and lay down a bunt. Of course Pedro Alvarez is not McCutchen so Desmond beats the throw by 2 steps. Next batter I throw right at his head. Yeah it's a game but I released a little bit of anger. Then I realize that I'm facing Zimmerman-Morse-Gomes. I needed two outs and got them both on the next two batters. Then Brandon Wood had an RBI Double in the bottom half to take the victory 1-0. Man the AI really pulled one on me there. At least I allowed only 1 hit.

If your favorite team really is the Braves, you don't trade Chipper, you trade someone else to get one 3B prospect.

ehhhh....that subject is touchy....when u have a declining veteran with a chance to get younger at a position, i think u have to do it....it's not like he's rooting for chipper to fail IRL

If you think about it though if he values Chipper enough he might be motivated to move someone else for a 3B prospect. That way, Chipper can hold the position for a year or so. Then the prospect can take over.

but ur gettin a PROVEN guy in sandoval who btw would be playing for a contending team in the Braves....who knows what the prospect would amount to if anything? obviously chipper still has trade value if the giants are willing to give up so much for him......i think sometimes u have to use your brain instead of your heart when ur playing the role of GM

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

                    Here is the current standings:

                    Lineup

                    CF- Pagan
                    2B- Murphy
                    3B- Wright
                    1B- Davis
                    LF- Bay
                    RF- Duda
                    SS- Lugo

I lost both Reyes and Beltran to injuries for 2 months, called up Lucas Duda and he's been a stud hitting .316/7/29. Wright has been struggling for me, at one point he hit .212 but has gone through a nice streak and is currently hitting .249/10/36. Bay has sucked for me just like IRL, for me he's hitting .206/8/27. I'm thinking about trading Beltran and maybe calling up Fernando Martinez who his currently in third in BA hitting .330 in AAA and thinking about platooning him in RF with Duda.

                    Rotation

                    Santana
                    Pelfrey
                    Young
                    Niese
                    Meija

My staff has been great so far, everyone except Niese (4.22) has a ERA under 4. Dickey has been my best pitcher (5-1 2.48) but had to go to the 15 day DL. I called up Dillon Gee but his first two starts he was rocked so I called up Meija until Dickey comes back. Also Santana just came off the DL so my next game he's making the first start of his season. The only two players I'm thinking about moving are Beltran and K Rod so I can retool my Farm System.

2012 Mets update: my kiddie Mets have gone 2-2 in their first 4, taking the opening series at home vs the Reds and getting shut out in first game vs the Nats.

Reyes is off to a terrible starts, perhaps feeling the pressure of a new contract haha. Bay, Ike, and Wright have started off well. Valdespin has been quite productive from 8 hole, and is more of my kind of player then Turner (sitting in AAA for depth). Captain Kirk has been solid, even had an inside the park HR.

With my newfound depth at IF/OF i might not wait long to pull the trigger for a solid #3.

craziness offseason trade: The Giants and Nats swapped Lincecum and Strasburg. smh @ cpu sometimes!

My next start will be Ken Harvey MLB debut

Yes, Chipper is a god-like figure in the Braves organization, but its a business so that's understandable. But that trade is so unrealistic it makes me brain hurt.

Hey guys I have a question that wasn't worthy of a thread, but maybe someone here can help. Is it possible to trade minor leaguers not on the 40 man roster in Season mode? I like trying to keep my rosters as close to real life as I can while playing my season, and keeping my Tigers intact hasn't gone well because I can't seem to figure out a way to trade my low level minor league players. Like today's trade for Delmon Young, I'm trying to acquire him in my Season.
