Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

i just finished my 2013 season with the mets, 2 years in a row i finished 89-72 (wild card) and got swept in the NLDS. my starting rotation in 2013 was

Johan Santana (7-6, 4.13 ERA in a injury plagued year)
    Dillion Gee (16-10, 2.99 ERA)
    Jon Niese (14-11, 3.56 ERA)
    Mike Minor (10-8, 4.18 ERA)
    Zach Wheeler (13-12, 4.55 ERA [2nd year])

I have Martin Perez (22) and Matt Harvey (24) in AAA Buffalo and wanna call them up for 2014. (Both high B overall, A potential and tearing it up in AAA).

So here's what I'm thinking of doing right now:

-I wanna let Santana go- in his mid 30's, type A free agent, and i dont wanna pay 12 million to a very injury prone pitcher

-Trade Zach Wheeler, Brandon Nimmo, and Reese Havens to the Dodgers for Matt Kemp and a C potential short stop

-Call up Matt Harvey and not Martin Perez because Harvey is 24 going into 2014 and i dont want to waste his talent in the minors. Perez is 22 going into '14 and i think he could get a little better and perhaps I'll call him up mid season

-Sign Josh Johnson to be my ace. He finished up with the Marlins by going 19-6, 2.44 ERA, 223 K's and winning the Cy Young. Hopefully he'll be the all star pitcher ive been lacking to take me deep into the playoffs.

    2014 lineup:

    SS- Jose Reyes
    2B- Daniel Murphy
    CF- Matt Kemp
    1B- Ike Davis
    3B- David Wright
    LF- Kirk Nieuwenhuis
    C - Kevin Matthews (2011 1st round Pick)
    RF- Fernando Martinez/Scott Hairston

    SP
    1- Josh Johnson R
    2- Dillon Gee R
    3- Jon Niese L
    4- Matt Harvey R
    5- Mike Minor L

(Harvey before Minor because i dont want three righties going in a row in a division with howard, utley, heyward, coghlan, harper...)

I think 2014 will finally be my year!!

THE AL WEST HAS BEEN CLINCHED!!!!!

That's right, the Seattle Mariners have clinched the AL West with a win at home against Kansas City. It's hard to say what happened to Texas, but at one point they had lost eight in a row, just as we were getting hot. Not that anybody in Seattle cares, as they are headed to the playoffs and into a big series verse the New York Yankees tomorrow. David Aardsma is at save numer 60, so only two to go to tie the record and three to break it. What a season it's been so far.

It took 5 games, but the Cubs defeat the Dodgers in the NLDS. They now face STL in the NLCS. On the AL side it's Boston vs NYY.

Thank you, it felt great indeed, but not as good as this last game verse the Yankees. Let me just say I truly despise the Yankees, so playing them is more than just a normal game, I really want to beat them and rub their nose in the ground like a bully. Matt Garza pitched well, not great, but well. He gave up three runs in seven innings and then Matt Capps and Kuo gave up two more in the eighth to put us down 4-0. The bottom of the eighth saw Miguel Olivo double, followed by an Ichiro double for an RBI, but that was all she wrote for that inning.

In the bottom of the ninth, Justin Smoak singled off Marte, prompting Girardi to go the Rivera. Dustin Ackley greeted him with a two-run homerun to bring it to 4-3 New York. Chone Figgins walked on four pitches and I subbed in Carlos Peguero for Jack Wilson, who seems to be unable to hit anything at times. Despite Pegueros inability to hit breaking balls and off speed pitches, Rivera only throws heat, so I figured it would be a good test of the young outfielder. With a 1-1 count, Carlos proved me right and jacked the walk-off homerun to keep the ball rolling for the Mariners.

In other news, David Aardsma has 61 saves, only two more to break the record.

                Josh;

You can either take any player who is fake and edit him into Bonds(or a Create-a-Player and make him into Bonds)
or from within the game to onto SPORTSCONNECT and go to the Player Vault and download one of the many versions of Bonds.
Load a roster that you want him on....
                Choose MANAGE ROSTER
Pick the team and then the player you want to overwrite Bonds into and choose IMPORT PLAYER(it will bring you to the PS3's hard drive where you saved you downloaded Bonds)
                You now have Bonds.

                  Save Number 63

The record books have been broken tonight during the Mariners 6-5 win over the Texas Rangers, as David Aardsma collected his 63rd save of the season, passing Francisco Rodriguez.

Marching out to House of Pain's Jump Around, as he did all season long, Aardsma earned his record save with a one-two-three top of the night in front of 40,000 fans at Safeco Field.

"It's brilliant," said Aardsma, who is in third season with Seattle. "It's always great to break a record and it's just great that it happened here at home in front of these great fans."

A closer is helped by the team he is on and the 2011 Seattle Mariners have been phenomenal all season long, clinching the AL West for the first time in years.

"He is just one part of our bullpen that seems to work so well together," said manager Eric Wedge. "Brandon League is a shut down setup man in the eighth and then Aardsma comes in and we know it's over."

The save seemed as if it would have to wait till Wednesday, as Texas jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, after a blown call loaded the bassed, followed by a Marlon Byrd two-run single off Michael Pineda.

The Mariners quickly responded with four hits and two-runs against Tommy Hunter. One of the those hits would be the first of four for Jason Kubel.

"One of the best pickups all season has been Kubel," said Wedge. "He is our best hitter in terms of average and he always seems to come through."

Pineda got hit again in the second, as three runs came across to score. Pineda, who has the lowest ERA in the league, settled down, going three more innings of run free baseball.

Just as it seemed Aardsma wouldn't get his chance, Seattle put four on the board in the fourth, pushing Hunter out of the game. The big blast came on a three-run homerun from Kubel, which sailed deep into the right field seats.

It was all setup perfectly for Aardsma, would got Xavier Nady to pop out, Elvis Ardus to ground out and Michael Young to strikeout for the record save and another Mariners win.

2012 Mets update: unsurprisingly, it has been a tough season for my kiddie Mets. 15-16 so far into the season, the pitching has been there but the hitting has been terrible.

I am not sure what is going on, but ever since i purchased my new TV i have been unable to hit at all. Maybe the visual settings are out of wack, but my timing is completely off. No idea what is going on

However, I am still in the wild card hunt and hopefully I can figure this out!

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Well after a blistering 28-13 start to the season, the Tigers got a dose of reality in a 10 game losing streak, dropping their lead in the AL central to 1.5 games over the White Sox. The most recent series, against the Rays, resulted in a total of 1 run in 3 games. Things were bleak as the Red Sox came to town for a 4 games series. Suddenly I'm thinking this could be a 14 game losing streak!

1st inning goes as expected, Sox score 3 while Tigers go 1-2-3. Looks like the typical performance from the past couple weeks. Beckett was just killing it, setting down my first 11 batters, when suddenly in the bottom of the 4th, a wild 2 out rally appeared! Delmon Young singled an 0-2 pitch to right, followed by Cabrera singling up the middle. Thinking this might be my only shot to score all game (that's pretty much how it's gone, I get one inning to threaten and that's it), I go with the power swing on the first pitch with Victor Martinez and crush it to right/center to tie it 3-3! But the rally didn't end there, as Alex Avila singled up the middle and Ryan Raburn knocked him in with a double to center.

Beckett was falling apart! In the 5th inning, the Tigers continued to hit, scoring 2 more runs on 4 hits to go up 6-3. Could it be? Could the streak be over? BOOM Youkilis says not so fast with a 2 run homer in the 7th, 6-5 Tigers. With 2 on and 2 out in the top of the 8th I bring in Benoit to get the final out with Valverde warming for the 9th. Job accomplished. Tigers realize 1 run isn't enough of a lead and catch fire in the bottom half of the 8th, making it 9-5. With no save on the line for Valverde I let Benoit stay in and kept Valverde warming just in case. Benoit shut em down for a 4 out save, Tigers finally win! The 9 runs equals the amount of runs the Tigers had scored in the previous 5 games combined lol.

Weird how it feels so good to win a game, considering I had been winning so much the first month and a half. I think it seems better because I was being no-hit for the first few innings, facing an ace. Also only giving up 2 HRs was nice lol.

More bad news for the Mariners, who are 1-9 in their last 10 games; Ichiro is out 4-5 weeks with a hamstring injury. Now in a tie with Texas for last place, 9.5 games out, the season appears doomed for Seattle, which stands at 58-64 on the season.
