Ok, I had to post this just cuz it was funny as I was starting a franchise game against Atlanta...

Matt V: "Can't complain about this weather, it's 72 degrees out."

Ok - except for the fact that it's pouring to start the game lol

I am hopefully about to sweep the Mariners, playing with the Braves. The games has been ball games. 5-3 and 4-2. I love it. It gives me a chance to used my whole team.

It looks like I will finish the month of June with 29 wins. My record sitting at 28-53 now. Guess what I am not giving up on the season. Not trading Chipper, B Mac or Uggla screw that I am a gamer. The Mets is leading the east with 42 wins. I am 10+ games back of first.

Seattle Fights Back To Take Game Two

It wasn't a pretty start for Jason Vargas as it seemed everything, even the outs, were getting hit hard. In total, three runs came across during his three innings of work, but Jason Kubel managed to limit the deficit thanks to a solo shot in the first. Vargas was lifted early because he wasn't able to get anything going, so I turned to Doug Fister and he was like water to the Met's raging inferno. He went four innings with only three hits allowed.

The bottom of the sixth proved to be quite the inning. With one out, Chone Figgans singled and Kubel was hit by a pitch. Justin Smoak lined into a fielders choice to put runners on first and third. Dustin Ackley, who is about as clutch as LeBron James, doubled to score Figgans, but sadly, Smoak was held at third. With runners in scoring position, it was Milton Bradley's turn. Now, he is batting .175 in the postseason and hasn't been able to hit anything, so I pulled him, after minutes of thought, for Carlos Peguero. So far, he has one at bat and one homerun, so not bad. Needless to say, my minutes of intense deliberation was for nought, as he was walked intentionally to get to Jack Wilson. One hanging slider was all it took and Wilson doubled to score three to give us a 5-3 lead. I was pumped like a five year old on Christmas morning.

Seattle would tack on one more with a Peguero homerun, making him 2-2 with 2 homeruns and a walk this postseason. Aardsma got the save and Seattle took a 6-3 win as we head to Citi Field.

          One Away

Jon Niese provided little resistance to the Mariners offensive onslaught, as they are now one win away from their first World Series title. Michael Pineda went seven innings of shutout baseball, but his 100 pitches forced his early departure.

The Mariners got to Niece early for two RBIs, all on singles. Ichiro came through in the third with an RBI, which is rare considering his .143 average this postseason. Jack Wilson put the icing on the Mariners cake by hitting a solo homerun out of ball park that tends to keep fly balls in play. After five, Seattle had a dominating 4-0 lead.

The Mariners bullpen was a tad wild, forcing Aardsma to enter the game with the bases loaded and one out. One run scored on a sac fly but Carlos Beltran stuck out looking to end the ball game.

Matt Garza will face Chris Young in game four at Citi Field tomorrow night.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

The Mariners make the biggest splash in the offseason, signing Jose Bautista to a 4-year deal. That move, combined with the signing of Wilson Betemit (3B) and Kelly Shoppach (C; wanted Doumit but he took Philly's offer even though I offered an extra year and more money), really helps stabilize Seattle's lineup.

                vs. RHP
                1. Ichiro, LF
                2. Ackley, 2B
                3. Smoak, 1B
                4. Bautista, RF
                5. Cust, DH
                6. Betemit, 3B
                7. Gutierrez, CF
                8. Shoppach, C
                9. Martinez, SS

                vs. LHP
                1. Ichiro, LF
                2. Gutierrez, CF
                3. Smoak, 1B
                4. Bautista, RF
                5. Shoppach, C
                6. Betemit, 3B
                7. Saunders, DH
                8. Martinez, SS
                9. Ackley, 2B

                Starting rotation
                1. King Felix
                2. Chacin
                3. Pineda
                4. Shields
                5. Fister

                Closer: Aardsma
                Setup: Delcarmen, League

The pickup of Bautista was huge. I didn't expect him to be on the market, but he was there and Toronto really didn't throw a lot of money his way, so I swooped in and made a competitive offer. Having all of that young talent really helped me in this situation as a lot of my players are years away from free agency, so I could throw the money at Bautista, knowing that I don't have to break the bank to keep guys like Ackley and Smoak around for several more years. Boston made a late charge but I managed to win the sweepstakes. Having a legit power threat is going to be huge for my lineup, especially with Smoak coming off a 28-HR season, he'll provide good protection for Bautista.

Betemit is coming off a 24-HR, 81-RBI season and also hit .280, and Shoppach is a very good defender and hits lefties very well.

I'm blanking on the 2 middle relievers I signed, but I know one was a lefty.

I also hired a new manager, Ron Gardenhire. I wanted a tough, old-school guy to run the ship and jumped as soon as he was available.

                  WORLD CHAMPIONS

Runs? Who needs them, as the Mariners only scored two to win the World Series over the New York Mets at Citi Field. Behind Matt Garza's stunning one hit performance, Seattle mustered six hits, as Chris Young was equally masterfully.

Seattle opened the game with a triple from Chone Figgins, but Jason Kubel struckout chasing a low fastball to bring up Adam Lind, so is only batting a .185 this postseason. Stats don't tell the whole story though, as Lind doubled to score Figgins.

For the next seven innings, neither team did anything against both starters. Matt Garza struckout seven, but he walked three, which resulted in a pitch count of around 101 by the seventh.

With Young out of the game, Justin Smoak hit his eighth homerun of the postseason for a key two run advantage for David Aardsma in the ninth.

With 66 saves during the regular season, Aardsma struck out the first batter, walked the second and got Ike Davis to fly out, which left Jason Bay. Hopefully he's happy with the money he took to go to New York because he'll have to wait another year, as he flew out to end the game, giving Seattle the title, their first.

Jack Wilson was the World Series MVP, batting a .438 with one homerun.

i did a fantasy draft with the red sox (i like fenway park) and had the 13th and the 18th pick alternating each round. here's how my MLB team ended up. i went for the youngest players with the highest potential and rating i could get while trying to make a balanced team to make a run at the playoffs. i checked my league rankings i'm 7th in batting, 2nd in pitching, and 29th in fielding. (2nd overall) (i have like 2 players that are A potential and young and just below some of my MLB players in rating in AAA)

                    Starters:
                    Clayton Kershaw
                    Stephen Strasburg
                    Madison Bumgarner
                    Phil Hughes
                    Kyle Drabek

                    LRP:
                    Mike Leake
                    Chris Tillman

                    MRP:
                    Kenley Jansen
                    Aroldis Chapman

                    SU:
                    Jonny Venters
                    Daniel Bard

                    CP:
                    Craig Kimbrel

                    SS:
                    Starlin Castro
                    Bradford Fagan

                    LF:
                    Logan Morrison

                    CF:
                    Chris Coghlan
                    Cameron Maybin

                    RF:
                    Michael Stanton (DH)
                    Jason Heyward

                    1B:
                    Prince Fielder
                    Freddie Freeman

                    3B:
                    Pablo Sandoval

                    2B:
                    Gordon Beckham

                    C:
                    Jason Castro
                    Salvador Perez

**update** (Traded 3B Dayan Viciedo for CP Craig Kimbrel, Traded 2B Ruben Tejada for RP Daniel Bard, both teams seriously needed those players at those positions as they were far above their current top rated person at those positions)

I finally decided to start a season with my favorite team, the Dodgers. I didn't realize how much cap room they have, that'll make for a fun offseason. Anyways a couple of trades i made, Billingsley to TEX for Michael Young, Ted Lilly & Casey Blake to OAK for Brett Anderson, Uribe to DET for Fister. Signed Christian Guzman, Jorge Cantu to 1 yr deals to bolster the bench a little.

Kershaw and Anderson are now my dynamic duo. This catcher James Hardwick is great and he signed for 3 years at a cheap rate, he's pushed Barajas to the bench. And thank goodness for Juan Rivera, i just might have to sign him again next year.

yeah my fantasy draft i just did concerns me when i hit offseason! Prince Fielder is awesome though hopefully you find a way to keep him. I plan on dropping a couple type A free agents to try to get draft picks if i can't afford to resign them all. maybe you should look into just biting your lip and releasing some older players for some draft picks so you can get fielder next time around if he's there.

Nothing wrong with trading some high salary players for prospects. After all, you did get prince fielder
