Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Yeah, really. Haha. The Cardinals and Pirates went to the final day of the season tied for the Wild Card. Reds ran away with the NL Central, the Rockies didn't even break 90 wins. They were close with the Dodgers and Padres, and the Athletics were running away with the NL West for a good amount of the season until they had a 9 or 10 game losing streak. The Rangers were catching up to them late in the season but couldn't break through. I believe the A's won the divison by 4 or 5 games over the Rangers.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Well i am in the final week of 2011 season. I control all teams and played a good deal of the Dodgers, Yankees, Angels and Braves games. Braves and Yankees made the playoffs Angels finished second behind Texas and Dodgers finished third about 500. So very realisitic, excluding for the Braves this week. Cano had a big year as did Kershaw and Kemp. Haren went 20-4 2.04 ERA and is first for CY Gonzalez 45 HR 335 AVG 120 RBI first for MVP. Konerko also had a huge year 40HR 300AVG 112RBI.
Now like I said in last week of the season I decided to play out the Philis games and they all freeze if I do not sim. I tried to play with the Philis on exhibition mode and again the game freezes? I am bummed and thinking of buying another 2011 disk to finish up the year. Philis won the NL East and probably will make the WS and not playing those games would suck. Anyone have something like this happen? Other then this issue an amazing year and I was really looking forward to 2012.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Thanks man. Just finished game one against the Pirates and Charlie Morton. I won 8-2. 7 shutout innings from Roy Halladay, and back-to-back home runs from Shane Victorino and Raul Ibanez (one being an inside-the-park homer) in both the 2nd and 4th innings! Also had a 2 run homer from Placido Polanco in the 8th inning as well.
Game 2 is Cliff Lee vs. Ross Ohlendorf
Detroit is up 2-0 on the Yankees in their series.
Boston and the A's are tied at one game each, as are the Reds and Rockies.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
haha, I thought for a second you cheated and had all those players on your yankees because of the new york logo above each players head but I forgot for a minute it shows the player's team above the player's stat line. It's intresting to see the red sox in your game didn't have an ep1c collapse. Why is the word ep1c bleeped out? Oh and you better watch out for those marlins, they have a habit of winning the world series every time they make the postseason lol.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
After having a great September to wrap up the NL Central title, the division series has not gone like I planned. Game 1 in Colorado matched Carpenter and Jimenez. Carp didn't make it out of the 3rd, giving up 7 early runs. Despite good pitching from my bullpen, we came up short, losing 8-7.
Game 2 was 15-5 Hawksworth against Danks, and I lifted Hawksworth after 1 inning as he was ineffective. He only gave up 2 runs, but could not find the strike zone. Jaime Garcia replaced him, and gave up a run in the 2nd, then a 3 run homer in the 3rd as we fell behind big again. This time we would lose 9-7, and come home facing elimination.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Haven't posted in awhile.
I finished 2011 as the Yankees with a 103-59 record, winning the AL East, and faced Oakland in the first round of the playoffs. Swisher led the team with 50 HRs and 133 RBIs, but he stopped hitting in the playoffs, as did most of my lineup.
I lost the ALDS to Oakland 3-1. In the offseason, I acquired LHP Jeff Francis to replace a departed Freddy Garcia, and RHP Carlos Silva to replace Bartolo Colon.
Offensively, I acquired OF David DeJesus (he killed me in the ALDS), and OF Josh Willingham. Brett Gardner walked, and Jorge Posada retired.
I also acquired 1B Mark Trumbo for minor league prospects in a trade with the Angels.
In 2012, I have a record of 42-34, good for third in the AL East, 4 games behind Tampa Bay for the Wild Card. My pitching leaders are Ivan Nova (9-1, 1.33 ERA) and Mariano Rivera (28 saves).
My offensive leaders are Curtis Granderson and ARod. Both have 22 HRs, and both are hitting .325.
I am getting ready to start a 3-game set with Cincinnati in interleague play.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
So I swept Cincy to go to 45-34, 3 games back of the Rays for the Wild Card, and 7 back of the Red Sox for the AL East lead.
In the first game against Cincinnati, I jumped out to a 2-0 lead on ARod's 23rd HR of the year. Josh Willingham and Nick Swisher also added solo homers in the 9-2 rout. Phil Hughes got the win, and the complete game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In the next game, Jeff Francis got rocked for 5 runs in 3 innings. I pulled him after the third trailing 5-1 and brought in Ivan Nova in a rare relief appearance.Josh Willingham made it 5-3 in the 6th with his 11th HR of the season, a 2-run shot that got tucked in the left field bleachers. In the 7th, Jeter got an infield single to drive in Francisco Cervelli, and in the 9th, Granderson got an infield single, also driving in Cervelli, to tie the game.
I used Joba in the 7th, Damaso Marte in the 8th, and Mariano Rivera in the 9th to force extra innings. Robinson Cano belted his 17th HR of the season in the 10th, a 446 ft bomb, to take a 6-5 lead. Rather than have Rivera pitch a second inning, I turned the save over to Boone Logan.
After this game, I put Jeff Francis on the trading block.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
In the first inning of the third game, Teixeira and ARod got two out singles. Cano got a single to drive in Tex, and Swisher doubled to drive in ARod. During Willingham's AB, Johnny Cueto threw a wild pitch, and Cano scored. That would be all I'd need as AJ Burnett went 9 innings, pitching a 2-hit shutout and striking out 13.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Up next is a homestand against the Cubs and Pirates to close out interleague play. That is followed by a road trip to KC and Boston for the final games before the All-Star break.Last edited by Cowswin; 10-04-2011, 02:02 AM.Comment
