Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Well after playing 130 or so games to make the playoffs, my season has ended. Not by the Rockies, but by YLOD. Not only did I lose my PS3 and game data, but the disc is stuck in the system, so even if I buy a new system I'll be waiting until 12 comes out to buy a new game. Definitely not the way I wanted this season to end.

man that stinks...i was thirty games into my first franchise when i got the YLOD on my launch day PS3...game was stuck it mine as well, so i had to take it apart to get my disc out...it really sucked having to restart a franchise but i've made it to around 85 games into my new one so far

I'm thinking maybe I should backup my data. I am in the second year of my franchise. That'd stink to lose it all.

Season 2 of my LAD franchise ends by losing to TOR in the World Series 4-0. Freakin Edwin Encarnacion, he drove in more runs than my entire team, 11 to my 8.

A little season wrap-up: I got into the playoffs via Wild Card by 1 game over CHC. Beat STL and ATL 4-2 and 4-1 respectively. Most were low scoring games, my offense was abysmal IMO. But i can't argue with the end results.

Chase Headley somehow was my best offense this year. How he managed to hit 35 HRs is beyond me but i'm sure glad i traded for him. Kemp, Pagan, Kershaw all had down years due to 1-2 months on the DL. My 2nd year catcher just keeps getting better after following his almost ROY campaign last year with similar power numbers but 50 points higher in batting avg.

Like usual i'm probably going to start over with another team and see what i can do with them. I guess I'll sim most of this next season with LA and see what happens before erasing. Thinking about using the Cubs.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

well i'm 21 games into my braves franchise. Brian McCann is out for a month (was two months lost him early in the season) and Chipper Jones is out for 3 weeks. i'm 18-3 but that doesn't even tell the story every single game has been way too close for comfort. i've gone to extra innings at least 8 times and Kimbrell has 11 saves. Venters is 4W-1L and O'Flaherty is 3-0 (just shows how its coming down to late inning every time) Freddie Freeman was batting .160ish with 1 hr (walk off HR to win a game) so i sent him to AAA and picked up Manny Ramirez and made him a 1B for 1 yr/ 7.3 million dollars. George Sherill who i feel bad i recommended him earlier on here because he has been GARBAGE for me. his ERA is like 27.00+ and has like 5 innings of work. so he's gone down to AAA picked up Taylor Buckholz off free agency for 1 yr/ 3.5 million dollars. i'm in the 20's in runs/RBI in league ranking the only thing keeping my team on the record i have is my freaking pitching staff which is in the top 10 in team rankings as i can't score runs at all that's why i needed to pick up Manny. I havent been playing against any good teams and i just played the giants and Barry Zito and their hitting just stomped me in game 1 so that was the last straw. i know it sounds absurd because of my record but my heart cant take these extra inning games anymore. one game went to 15 innings before i scored a run to win and most of them have gone to the 12th at least. i've just been really LUCKY thats why my record is like that. i could easily have a terrible record if i didnt get lucky so i feel i need to do something before my luck runs out. i'm sure i'll get criticized by you chaps but i don't care. hehe.

Manny and Buckholz were both free agents by the way. i'm gonna see how Freeman does in AAA i might bring him back up and bring manny off the bench just to pinch hit if he gets out of his cold spell.

lol great just lost another to the giants...Buckholz gave up 3 runs in 2 innings and Manny went 0-4

another late inning nail biter, playing 3rd game of 3 against the giants top of the 11th man on i pinch hit matt diaz against a lefty for jason heyward 1st pitch 2 run HR to make it 4-2, kimbrel comes in first pitch gives ups a solo HR on a changeup and then strikes out 3 in a row for his 12th save of the season. Record 19-4

Hello Everyone, Im new to the forums and wanted to post about my current Milwaukee Brewers Franchise.
<O></O>
To start it off I wanted to sim the 1st season and get the playoffs the same as they are now. It took me a few trys but eventually got it. So round 1 against Dbacks winning the series pretty easy. Now to round 2 against the Cards we won the series 4-2. At this points we were cruising and ended up facing the Rangers in the World Series. We get a 3 games to 1 lead. Get blown out in game 5 and now head back to Milwaukee for last 2 games. 2 outs in top 9th with a 2-1 lead the Axe-Man (Axford) comes in and get the 1st two outs easily. Then gives up 3 hits in a row and they tie the game at 2-2. Play goes all the way to the 16th when they score 2 runs to make it 4-2. We get 1 back in bottom half but lose.<O></O>
Now it all comes down to game 7 in Milwaukee w Greinke on the hill. Sad to say it was a good game but they knocked Zack out in the 6th in a 4-4 ball game. I ended up losing 4-6 and lose the World Series to the Texas Rangers after having a 3 games to 1 lead with homefield advantage. <O></O>
Now to the off-season:<O></O>
I try to make a run a Prince by offering him 6 yrs 150M. He eventually signs w the Rangers as the Brewers dropped out of his top 3 with it being 1st TEX, 2nd CHC, and 3rd BAL. I decided to bring back 4/5ths of the rotation in Greinke, Gallardo, Marcum and Wolf letting Narveson go hoping to sign a veteran P in the off-season like Mark Buehrle or Edwin Jackson. Needless to say I lost out on both. And Decided to start Tyler Thornburg in the 5th spot. (Brewers top proscpect). <O></O>
Now to the offense. As you read I lost Prince to the Rangers the team I lost to in the WS lol. I let Casey Mcgehee, and Yuni B go. I re-signed Lucroy, Weeks, T-Plush, Gomez. Now I am in a hole at 3B, SS and 1B. I attempt to sign Jose Reyes/Jimmy Rollins for SS but fail to sign them so I offered Clint Barmes a contract and he accepts. Also signed Carlos Pena for 1B. He can put up Fielder #s in HRs and RBI but bats like .200 for much much cheaper. I failed to sign anyone for 3B and decided to roll with Taylor Green or Mat Gamel at 3B.<O></O>
F/A Tracker:<O></O>
Pujols/Berkman/Furcal/Carpenter/Wanewright all re-signed with the Cardinals making them them the favorites to win the Central in the up coming season.<O></O>
Aramis Ramirez also signed with Cardinals over Brewers and Cubs.<O></O>
Reyes ended up resigning w the Mets over the Angels, Red Sox and my Brewers.<O></O>
Prince signed w the Rangers over Cubs, Orioles and Brewers. <O></O>
CJ Wilson signed with the Cubs over the Yankees, Rangers and Nationals. <O></O>
Brandon Phillips resigned with Reds over Royals.<O></O>
Beltran chose Royals over Red Sox and Giants.<O></O>
Favorite one of all Paplebon declined Sox offer to sign w rival Yanks after Rivera retired.<O></O>
If you are wondering about anyone else just let me know, and ill tell you.<O></O>
<O></O>
Not much trading went on besides some low key pitching movements. I made a move to get a 3B by trading for Michael Young after he was on the bench in TEX bc they jus signed fielder and didn’t hav room for him. Got him cheap for 2 AA players.<O></O>
Now going into the 2nd season where I plan on playing all the games the my Line-up looks like this.<O></O>
SS- Clint Barmes<O></O>
CF- Nyjer Morgan<O></O>
LF- Ryan Braun<O></O>
1B- Carlos Pena<O></O>
2B- Rickie Weeks<O></O>
RF- Corey Hart<O></O>
C- John Lucroy<O></O>
3B- Michael Young<O></O>
P<O></O>
With Jerry Hairston, Mat Gamel, Bobby Abreu and George Kottares on the bench.<O></O>
Started the season 13-7 and that is where I am at now. I am really hoping I can make the playoffs and get revenge on Prince and the Rangers!! Ill try and keep everyone updated. <O></O>

So, I decided to start a franchise with the Mets and surprisingly we are in 1st place. The Phillies are in last place

My Rotation is as follows:
Johan Santana
Chris Carpenter (trade w/ Cards)
Andrew Brackman (trade w/ Yanks)
Mike Pelfrey
Dillon Gee

The lineup is as follows:
LF - Brett Gardner
SS - Jose Reyes
3B - David Wright
1B - Jason Bay
RF - Nick Markakis
CF - Angel Pagan
C - Yadier Molina
2B - Ruben Tejada

i have some pitching prospects in the minors and also traded for Jemile Weeks who is currently in the minors with an injury.
In the coming offseason, I'm looking to solidify the bullpen and hopefully get a solid closer, instead of Bobby Parnell.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Finished up through the All-Star break.

I am currently 56-36, winning 11 of 13 down the stretch. Interleague really helped me get back into contention. I trail Boston by 6 games in the division, and lead Tampa by a game in the Wild Card.

I made a trade of minor leaguers that opened enough space to send Jeff Francis to the minors. That opened up a bullpen slot which I filled by signing Dontrelle Willis.

My All-Stars were:

SP - CC Sabathia
SP - Phil Hughes
SP - Ivan Nova
CP - Mariano Rivera
2B - Robinson Cano
3B - Alex Rodriguez
CF - Curtis Granderson

Only Sabathia, Cano, and Grandy were actual starters. The AL won the ASG 1-0 on a first inning RBI double from Miguel Cabrera. Sabathia notched the win, and Rivera grabbed the save and the MVP award.

Now on to the second half of the season.

I started a fantasy draft season with the Marlins. No joke, the team looked like so:
C Avila
1B Freeman
2B Cano
SS Reyes
3B Longoria
LF Gardner
CF McCutchen
RF Stanton
Bench: Maggs, Thome, Pudge, Pedro Alvarez

Rotation: Kennedy, Leake, Bumgarner, Chacin, LeBlanc
Bullpen: Luebke, E Sanchez (Cards prospect), Rodriguez (WAS), Collins (KC), Perry, Hanrahan, & Kimbrel

Through May 2, I am 14-14. Longo, Stanton, Avila, McCutchen, Kennedy and Bumgarner have been awesome. Reyes, Cano, Perry, Hanrahan, & Kimbrel have been horrible.

At one point Kimbrel blew two saves in a row, so I put Hanrahan in as closer for a few games. In the last two, Hanrahan has blown both saves. Right now it just seems like the bullpen cannot close out a game to save their lives.
MLB: Detroit Tigers
NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins
NCAA FB: Penn State
NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
