Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

The month of July is off to bad bad start. I opened the month with a 7 gm home stand. I got swept by the O's. Now these are not your dad O's over last 20yrs. This video game O's is on point. Their record is 50-34, team avg .285 with 3.85 overall ERA.

They were clutch. I mean they had players in each game have multi hr: gm 1 Reynolds, gm 2 Hardy and gm 3 Adam Jones. This was the first time I got frustrated I started hitting batters intentionally and I did not get thrown out. Well I hit one guy after I gave up a hr and hit Hardy his next at bat which was the next inning.

My record stands at 28-56, 16.5GB of the 1st NYM. The Mets are only 44-41. The top 3 is only separated by 4 games. So it could be worse.

Here is some stats for the year:
    Bourn .261 31SB 16CS 33R
    Chipper .243 10HR 25RBI
    McCann .243 7HR 29RBI
    Uggla .247 15HR 31RBI .461SLG%
Heyward and Prada has been out for two months
Pitching is keeping me sane team ERA 3.37
    Hanson 6-9 2.88 ERA 80K 17BB
Happ 7-8 3.34 ERA 71K 31BB (traded for Hudson, Schaffer to get Bourn)
    Millwood 3-4 4.36 ERA 32K 14BB 14 starts
    Medlen 5-8 2.73 ERA 79K 14BB
    JJ 3-9 4.16 ERA
    Venters 1.23 ERA
    S. Castilla 2.13 ERA (wvr off SF)
    Sherill 2.40 ERA most GP 44 41.1IP
    kimbrel 3.04 11sv 3 BSV

28-56!? with the braves!? heh, i see that you must have started originally with an old roster. the update roster makes the team much better than the default one that came with the game. i have a braves franchise too, having kimbrel and venters is amazing. if i hit the 7th with the lead its OVER. hehe. Also Tommy Hanson is ANNOYING either he gives up 4-6 runs in the first 3 innings or he pitches a full game shutout you never know which one its gonna be, its so annoying. Your team record makes more sense when you take into account that you've lost Prado and Heyward for two months, they have been reliable hitters for me. playing with the braves is a lot of fun because you feel like you're never out of the game because every starter has a high batting clutch level which is pretty cool. It looks like your lack of offense is killing you, hope you get all your players healthy and make a comeback and win the world series! go braves!

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

I finished off a 4 game sweep of the Dodgers, then went to Cincinnati with my magic number at 1. Despite Karstens allowing 6 runs, including 4 home runs, in just an inning and a third, my Cards came back to win 11-6 and clinch the Central.

With 2 games left in the regular season, the only races still to be decided are Brewers/Braves for the NL wildcard, and Rangers/Mariners for the AL West. Those teams are going head to head, so it should be an exciting finish. The Braves have lost 5 in a row and now only have a 2 game lead.

well let us know what you end up doing, I'm curious what reliever you'll end up picking up. i just started a braves franchise the other day, I'm 4-2 so far but Craig Kimbrel has 4 saves and Heyward has 3 home runs.

              Hmmm.

Should i start back up a franchise that i am 18-4 in with the Red Sox? Or restart and pick a different team that would give me some work to do.

start a new one. Kansas City Royals and the White Sox have some high potential young players to build from.

KC sounds like fun, trading away Soria for young talent sounds even better

First game of the season has come and gone for the Kansas City Royals. It was set up Jered Weaver vs. Luke Hochevar, it was a pitching duel that went in favor of the Royals. 2-0 final with two home runs by rookie Hosmer and Melky both in the first inning to rattle up Weaver a bit, but after that Weaver settled down and killed us. Luke threw the best game in his life 9.0 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 9 K 106 PT.

                    Good first game.

Yeah I did start with the orginal rosters. I started in April. I could've restarted the franchise, but I did a lot of customization to the players that I dont want to do again. So I will roll with it and its truly a challenge to me on All-star lvl.

I will get Heyward back probably this month of July, but Prado is out for the year. I did picked up Andruw from NYY, but I probably waited to late. He is batting .278 15HR 40 RBI, 6 HR with me. I had him for a month and half. He is currently on the 15 day DL. Go figure.

I appreciate the good wishes @citizenbrain

Ok but he got the win. Kendall came through big w/ 2rbi's also Escobar had 2rbi's. Getting ready to face Weaver tomorrow on April1st.

LOL, Alex Gonzalez BROKE his leg running to first base on a ground out. what the heck! he's out 3-4 weeks! how do you break your leg running to first! i have the money maxed out on injury recovery since the beginning of the season and all the rehab facilities so that should help get him back. for now i guess Jack Wilson will be my starter and i'll have to rotate Martin Prado out of LF into SS when Wilson needs a rest because Prado can play all IF positions. i dont really have a good AAA 2B/SS to bring up except for maybe Brandon Hicks but i'd rather just rotate Prado in. i don't know this sucks though, i dont really lose much Bat wise but fielding wise Alex is huge, his fielding rating is almost maxed out which is key for SS. i guess i'll have to see how this effects my team.

LOL, at least they could have him tearing a hamstring. That is what happened to David Ross in my franchise while running to first.

I just finished up the 2011 season in my Phillies franchise. I played one game a day to match up with the real season. I also did all the real injuries and transactions that happened every day for every team. I played every game with the exception of about 10 of them when I was on vacation earlier this year.

I finished the 2011 season with a 109-53 record in first place in the NL East 22 games ahead of the second place Braves.

All in all, I think I had a pretty productive season for the most part. It was a lot of fun.

My pitching was incredible. Team ERA of 3.19 for the season.

                              Roy Halladay: 15-6, 2.74 ERA, 7 CG, 4 SHO, 233 IP, 27 BB, 224 K
                              Cliff Lee: 17-8, 2.89 ERA, 7 CG, 3 SHO, 227 IP, 20 BB, 216 K
                              Roy Oswalt: 9-5, 3.84 ERA, 143 IP, 25 BB, 131 K
                              Cole Hamels: 15-5, 3.42 ERA, 3 CG, 2 SHO, 207.2 IP, 27 BB, 171 K
                              Vance Worley: 12-3, 2.99 ERA, 141.1 IP, 16 BB, 101 K

                              Kyle Kendrick: 12-4, 3.47 ERA, 122 IP, 13 BB, 70 K
                              David Herndon: 2-4, 3.65 ERA, 44.1 IP, 10 BB, 33 K
                              Brad Lidge: 3-0, 1.95 ERA, 32.1 IP, 12 BB, 38 K
                              Michael Stutes: 4-3, 3.24 ERA, 50 IP, 8 BB, 42 K
                              Antonio Bastardo: 5-4, 2.68 ERA, 50.1 IP, 5 BB, 39 K
                              Ryan Madson: 2-4, 2.58 ERA, 52.1 IP, 8 BB, 57 K, 32 SV

I didn't include players that were on the disabled list most of the season.

Here's how my position players and bench fared for the 2011 season.

I'd like to think I had a pretty realistic season numbers wise. I think my win-loss record is pretty realistic as well considering the real life Phillies went 102-60.

I'm about ready to start the NLDS. I'll post a picture of my 2011 playoff brackets in the post below this one. Two teams on it are very surprising, but that's how my season went as a whole.

What does everyone think of my season?
