    You on HOF?

Yeah, the sounds definitely add to the atmosphere... thanks again. I saw that you said you were updating them, in the other thread, can't wait. I'm going to watch some MLB.tv to get all the songs, so I can add them in. I'm in Texas now, and I don't know when I'll get back home to a Tigers game, so the game is my Detroit connection right now.

I'm on HoF with the exception of pitching (AS)... I'm thinking about moving that up too, to make it a little more tough.

wow what a game last night! On the road in a crucial series with SF. Won Game 1 in the 14th with a Solo Shot off the bat of Jorge Cantu! Lead increased to 4 games. I had a little losing streak but nothing to big, fortunately they lost some during that time too to not close the gap.

Dam, can't wait for the patch to finally stop all the ridiculously high-rated players 4-5 years into the future!

          Orioles Update:

Man, thank the lord for Kansas City. After losing 6 straight (3 to Boston 3 to Chicago) I manage to pull out the last of a 4 game set in Chicago and swept KC for a 4 game winning streak.

I have revamped my Bullpen. Gregg is out as closer after blowing 4 of his last 6 attempts. Uehara is the closer. Jim Johnson is the setup man. Gregg and Gonzalez with be my 7th inning guys. Bergeson is long relief, after faltering again in the rotation. Berken is in AAA and Britton is the number 5 starter.

16-16 3rd in the AL East
          Team ERA: 4.08
          Team BA: .262

Manage Only Mode franchise I am 3-4 with Baltimore thru 7. Started off being swept at TB and lost 14-2 to Detroit in my Home Opener. Somehow have the guys on a 3 game winning streak as my starting pitching has been much better lately. Game 8 vs Tex tonight

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

I just finished up April in my A's Franchise. I'm currently 13-14 and bringing up the rear in the tight AL West; Three games back of the division leading Mariners and one game behind Texas and Los Angeles.

April was a month of ups and downs for us as we got off to a slow start. Losing all but, one of the first five games. From there we were able to put things together and sweep the Twins (who currently have the best record in the AL) in route to a six game winning streak. However, it appeared that we peaked during that streak because once it ended we just can't seem to put together any back-to-back wins. Once the streak ended on the 13th we had a very pedestrian record of 6-10.

We ended April with a Team Batting Average of .283 which is first in MLB. We're currently T-6th in runs scored, T-12th in HR's, 10th in RBI's, Last in SB and have the least amount of strikeouts in the league. Our pitching, which was considered on of the best young staffs in baseball has gotten off to a bit of a slow start. We're 17th in ERA with 3.73, T-12th in Runs Allowed, 21st in HR's allowed, and 2nd in strikeouts.

Currently, we're in the midst of an important four game set with Texas and with a little luck, could possibly be looking at 2nd in the division once the series is over. We need as many division wins as we can get (currently 5-7 in the Div.) In May, we also have another three game set with Texas as well as four games against Los Angeles.

Not sure if this really applies to this thread, but in my Cubs franchise I got a message informing me of a trade between the Nationals and I think Padres that I had to post:

Jesus Guzman (bar half full, A-rated potential)
                  for
                  Livan Hernandez
                  Adam Carr
                  Bryce Harper

                  REALLY?!

                    ^^

Had the Nationals make the same trade in my Indians franchise except it was to Toronto for Adam Loewen, (RF, Bar half full, don't remember his potential).

                    I immediately reversed the trade.

FINALLY got to .500 with my Phils squad, sitting at 27-27 now and still 4 games back of the division behind Braves. Mets and Marlins are like 2 games back of the lead so I'm slowly gaining ground. My pitching has gotten much better lately so I think its time for things to turn around and the Phillies to take over.

                      Some random stats stats:

                      Halladay (4-2, 3.90 ERA)
                      Hamels (5-2, 4.09 ERA)
                      Cliff Lee (2-5, 6.25 ERA)
                      Ryan Madson (1-1, .78 ERA, 15 saves)

                      JRoll .295 10 HRs 33 RBIs
                      Howard .270 14 HRs 40 RBIs
                      Ibanez .328 11 HRs 34 RBIs
                      Chooch .315 7 HRs 28 RBIs

Dom Brown is actually coming off my bench b/c Francisco has flat out played better and Michael Martinez has been a beast playing infield and occasional for Victorino while Shane has struggled the majority of the season.

I just had my two greatest pitching outings in this year's game.

The bad news, I combined for 7 hits and struck out 17 times.

C.C Sabathia was stupendous on Opening Day, going 7 strong, scattering 6 hits on 3BB and 6 K; the only chink in the armor being a solo homerun in the 6th as he was running out of steam.

I managed to draw 2 consecutive BB off of Verlander in the 2nd, and fortunately, Nick Swisher was able drive both runs home. 2-0 NYY after 2 innings.

After that...nada. NOTHING. Verlander matched Sabathia pitch for pitch, and when all was said and done, NYY out scratched DET to go onto an Opening Day victory. It was ugly though. 2 runs on 2 hits!!! Thank goodness for Soriano and Mo.

Game two played out very similar to game one. A.J. Burnett was stellar. 0 runs over 8 innings, 1 BB, 3 hits, 8 K.

Jacob Turner of Detroit also went 8 shutout innings. That said, this game came down to the closers. Two of the best in the business. Mo versus Valverde. Who'd blink first????

                        Mariano. Damn...

After a perfect outing in game one, Mariano left a cutter (without the cut) over the heart of the plate. I couldn't even tell you who hit it. I was in Yankee fan disbelief. An enormous blast to right field. After 8 1/2, 1-0 Detroit.

With the lead, Valverde set me down in order. 1-0 Detroit.

The rubber match will feature Phil Hughes and Max Scherzer. Ugh...I can NEVER hit Scherzer...see you soon 13 K's!!!

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

After downloading Knight's Opening Day roster (thanks again, M.K.!), I started up my New York Mets franchise. I know, I know, some of you guys have seen me post in other threads that I was going to use a different team (and I still may do that), but I wouldn't feel right not playing as my favorite team.

I opted against 30-team control as I really don't like having to mess with 29 other lineups/rosters. So, yes it was a little odd seeing Hanley Ramirez lead off for the Marlins, but it's not the end of the world either. I have the Mets' roster just as it was on Opening Day; Bay is on the 15-day DL and Santana is on the 60-day.

I'm 2-0 right now. First game was a pitchers' duel between Mike Pelfrey and Josh Johnson. 1-1 into the 8th when I am forced to go to the bench and pinch-hit for Pelfrey (only run was off a solo HR to Stanton in the 2nd). Willie Harris got the call and delivered with a 2-run single to put me up 3-1. I pushed another run across to go up 4-1.

Bring in K-Rod for the 9th and he BLOWS THE SAVE! Somehow he manages to work out of a 1st-2nd no outs situation and the game goes into extra innings. Ike Davis eventually drove in a run and DJ Carrasco closed out the bottom of the 10th for the 5-4 victory.

Game 2 was an 11-3 route. I forced Vasquez to throw 100 pitches by the 5th inning! I drew 5 walks total for the game, but did strikeout 15 times.

Josh Thole was the BMOC in this game, hitting a Grand Slam. Niese had a good start, actually carried a no-hitter into the 4th and worked 7 innings.

                          Settings are:

                          Hitting: All-Star/Timing
                          Pitching: Hall of Fame/Analog
                          Throwing/Fielding: All-Star/Analog

I'm in 2011 in my MLB 09 franchise for ps2 now with the Oakland Athletics. After struggling the past two years, I believe I can possibly contend this season. Here's my roster:

                            Lineup
                            SS Jose Reys
                            2B Brian Roberts
                            CF Nate McLouth
                            RF Rick Ankiel
                            1B Winfred Dempsey (.265-280, ~20 HR's)
                            C Jarrod Bacon (.230-250, 25+ HR's)
                            3B Edwin Encarnacion
                            DH Jimmie Parsons (.240-250, 20-30 HR's)
                            LF Bill Hall

                            Bench
                            C Kurt Suzuki
                            UTIL Esteban German
                            1B/LF Chris Duncan
                            OF Angel Pagan

                            Rotation
                            Bronson Arroyo
                            Wil Ledezma
                            Joe Blanton
                            Sean Marshall
                            Ian Snell

                            Bullpen
                            Chad Durbin
                            Sean Green
                            Michael Wuertz
                            Santiago Casilla
                            Joey Devine
                            Brandon Lyon
                            Will Ohman

Not many remains from the original major league roster. The three players who have stats by their names are generated players who were in my minor leagues when I started the franchise. The stats represent about what can be expected out of that player. Some of the young pitchers who have succeeded for the A's in real life haven't panned out for me, Gio Gonzalez and Dallas Braden are both in the minors for me.

I finally hit a homerun in free agency bringing in Jose Reyes on a 3 year $60 million deal. I tried for Carl Crawford the year before, but even though I bid the most he elected to go to the Yankees. I brought in Arroyo ($7M) and Blanton ($5M) to try and help out the rotation, and I claimed Sean Marshall off of waivers from the Cubs. I lucked out with the bullpen, I claimed Chad Durbin, Sean Green and Michael Wuertz off of waivers at the end of spring training to save my bullpen from being absolutely terrible. Without them, it would've consisted of guys who are certainly not Major League quality and probably would've been very frustrating.

I'm also excited about my first draft pick I ever picked way back in the 2009 season. Alverno Salgado, a 3rd baseman who can also play 1st and 2nd base. I think he's more of a 2nd baseman myself, he already has great contact good speed good defense but lacks power and has some arm accuracy issues. He totally looks like he could turn out to be what Brian Roberts is in this game, and that excites me. He's only 20 years old, and I don't plan on him being up this year, but if someone gets hurt there's definitely a possibility.

Now onto the season so far. The first four games were an absolute struggle. None of my starters made in past 4 innings pitched. I was outscored 45-15 and started out 0-4.

Things turned around though. Although Ian Snell gave up 5 runs to the White Sox, he pitched 6 1/3 innings, and we brought the offense and won our first game 13-7.

Next game Bronson Arroyo was dealing, so was Mark Buehrle. Broson went 7 1/3 innings, striking out 7 and allowing just 2 runs. We were able to scratch across 3 against Buehle and won our second straight.

The next game Wil Ledezma struggled again giving up 6 runs in 5 innings, and the Rays scored another to make in 7-1 in the 9th. Scott Kazmir was absolutely dealing, but we were able to force him off the mound in the 9th as we pushed another run across and he wore out. They bring in J.P. Howell and we score three quick runs making it 7-5. Then my catcher Jarrod Bacon hits a 2 run homerun to tie it up off of Brad Ziegler. After Edwin Encarnacion grounds out, Jimmie Parsons hits a walk off homerun and we win it 8-7

Joe Blanton struggled in his second start again, giving up 5 runs in 4 innings. Facing David Price, it was tough to get anything going. We got a run early, but then he pretty much shut us down. Until he wore out in the 6th inning, and we mounted a rally and scored 3 more off of him to make it 5-4. The Rays bring in J.P. Howell for the second staight game and my 1B Winfred Dempsy hits a triple to center field and knocks in the game tying run. An inning later McLouth comes up with a runner on 2nd and hits a double down the left field line to give us the lead. We add two more, and my bullpen shuts the door for the 8-5 win.

We are now back to 4-4, very frustrating at the beginning, but very satisfying last few games. Winfred Dempsey has been on a tear hitting .450 with 4 doubles 1 triple and 6 RBI's. Off to hopefully pitch well with Sean Marshall.

I'm about to start up my Rockies franchise. I used the Rox briefly last year and it was a lot of fun. Think I've found the right sliders and settings and with Knight's Opening Day Rosters dropping, I should be in for a good time.

I've been keeping up with everyone's franchise's here, good reads everyone!

In my Oakland franchise, week before the all-star game, we're in 1st...Nats are 14 games out in the division, 7.5 out in the wild card.

They offer Bryce Harper & John Lannan for Hideki Matsui, Craig Breslow and Joey Devine
