Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
After our brief offensive explosion against Cincinnati, we fell back to earth in a interleague series against St. Louis.
We sent 4-7 Wade Davis to the mound against 9-4 Kyle Lohse...and it was messy.
Davis struggled mightily and only pitched 2.2 innings and allowed 5 runs. I blew out the bullpen in that game and we ended up losing 12-0. Funny thing was, we were hitting the ball well. Making solid contact and driving the ball well. It just so happened that every hit was right at someone. It was just one of those games I guess.
I still have another game against St. Louis left and then trips to Minnesota and New York before the All-Star break.
I'm currently looking at deals for BJ Upton. Right now, the only team interested appears to be Milwaukee. I'm looking at what might be a fair deal as I'm not in the business of ripping off the AI.Comment

My Mets are 13-19 and I am FRUSTRATED!
I resorted to fleecing the Sox a bit for better pitching. I'm not proud but I wouldn't say I'm ashamed either.
Reyes and Wright have been just terrible for me.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
We were able to snatch up game 3 of the series against St. Louis. After being blown out 12-0 the day before and wiping out my bullpen, Jeff Niemann pitched a gem. He went 8.2 innings allowing only 2 runs. With the win he improved to 11-2 on the season. Surprisingly, Niemann is 12th in AS voting for the starters spot, yet he leads the league in wins!
Exploring a possible deal involving BJ Upton with Milwaukee, Washington and Oakland.Comment

Ok I'm on year 2 of my Mets franchise after simming the first year and doing some heavy scouting. Somew notes: OSFM rosters, 30 team, and I made myself as a badass starting pitcher because that's something I like to do in my sports games. Near the trade deadline last year the Reds in a playoff hunt lost Volquez for the season and offered up Aroldis Chapman for Johan since I had him on the trade block. I took it in a heartbeat but threw in a B rated prospect as well especially since it didn't look like I was making the playoffs.
Fast forward to the offseason after getting an excellent draft (manual scouting choices FTW) some big names hit the FA market deciding not to resign. Pujols, Prince, Vlad, Adrian Gonzales, and a few others all hit the market. I stayed away from Pujols because his asking price was insane (Rays eventually dropped over 110mil on him) and I already gave Reyes big money,I decided to push hard for Prince and got him with a 5 year 55mil deal. Also let Beltran go and signed Nate McClouth for defense in center and signed Brandon Phillips to man second for a few years, and also ups my infield defense. So all in all a successful first year
Now coming into season two so far I'm 3 - 0 on the year sweeping the reds in two tight pitchers duels to start the year and a relatively easy rubber match lighting up Arroyo for 7 runs in 3 innings with Prince going yard twice and Ike going deep for one. About to head into a 3 game stint vs the Nats with Dillon Gee taking the mound.
Of note: I play analog AS pitching and zone batting with modified sliders.

I haven't offered anything yet. Just looking at several different players in what I would be interested in. Just a few examples from each team that are on the MLB roster. Keep in mind that I am also looking at a number of different prospects from each team as well, just too many combos to list.
Washington:
Sean Burnett
Adam LaRoche
Oakland:
Daric Barton
Milwaukee:
Rickie WeeksComment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
2) With Jennings in CF there is virtually no drop-off defensively and offensively, his ratings are currently near those of Upton.
3) Upton IRL, and in my game, is hitting in the low .200s. Upton had one strong season offensively (2007) and since then, his offensive production IRL and in-game have been very weak.
4) Daric Barton, in-game, has a OBP > .400 and I have a lack of depth/overall talent at the 1B position, thus, the reason I am also looking at Adam LaRoche. His OBP is lower, but, he has some nice power numbers to add pop to the lineup.
5) Did I mention Upton's poor performance in-game and IRL? He is an amazing athlete and his range in center is fantastic. However, Jennings can do the same thing for cheaper and I won't lose Jennings for nothing after the season. Upton will not re-sign with me and he is likely to be dealt IRL as well. Plus, it's a win-win for me. I'm not throwing in the towel by trading BJ, I plan on getting a ML player and a few mid-level prospects in return and stay in the Wild-Card race.Comment

1) BJ is not interested in signing a LTD with the Rays IRL and I have quite a bit of OF depth with Jennings in the fold.

I figured it was either a contract or performance issue..considerin laroche has the edge over barton in power, i would likely go with him...i would def look thru more trade proposals thoSteelers | Seminoles | A's | Rockets | Avalanche | Wildcats, Hoosiers | LiverpoolComment
