Ugh as I enter September, I am slumping pretty bad and the Rockies are charging. They have knocked my 8 game lead down to 1.5.

We took the first two games in New York 3-0 and 9-2. Wade Davis came up big in game one with a victory over Freddy Garcia. Jeff Niemann won his 5th start in a row, in game two, to improve his record to 12-2.

We are now tied with the Yankees for 2nd in the AL East and tied for the WC lead.

Game three of the series will be David Price vs C.C. Sabathia and Game four will be James Shields vs AJ Burnett - then comes the All-Star break.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Just ended a little 3 game losing streak after mashing the Angels.

I lost my last game in Fenway against Tim Wakefield, and then lost back to back games at home vs. Dan Haren, Jered Weaver and the Angels.

In fenway my offense was shut down by the knuckleball.

Is there anyway I can practice on hitting that thing? If i see the Red Sox and especially wakefield in the postseason i dont want to chalk that up as a loss.

Haren and Weaver changed speeds on me pretty well, I managed to scratch across 3 runs against each of them, but Marlon Byrd was too much for me to handle hitting 3-run Jacks in each game. In the third game of the series I chose to be aggressive and it paid off as I shut out the Angels 11-0. CC Sabathia has been pitching well of late and is in the conversation for the Cy Young award going 15-5 so far with a 3.10 ERA.

The team is heading on a 6 game road trip stopping KC and MIN.

Phil Hughes will have one last chance in the rotation, another bad start will put him in the pen and Bartolo Colon back in the rotation.

Same goes for me with my Twins, I had about a 8.5 game lead in august and now with only 7 games left the white sox have cut the lead down to 1 game

In my second season with the Cubs. Missed the playoffs first season.

In the season, I traded for Wilson Bentiment who did a great job and thats about it really

            Off-season I was busy.

1)Traded Dempster to Texas for Michael Young who will man 2b for me
2)Re-signed Aramis Ramirez to a one year deal. I plan on in year three to move Young to 3b.
3)Traded Randy Wells to Texas for Mitch Moreland and Chris Davis
4)Signed C.J. Wilson snd Tommy Hunter (I know I have a lot of Texas players lol)
            5)re0signed Wilson Bentiment

Rocking MLB 10 for now... Started one with the hometown O's. 3-0, swept the Rays in Tampa. Not bad for a start.

Dropped the final game before the All-Star break to the Yankees 7-5. Heading into the break we are tied with the Yankees for the Wild Card and are 4.0 GB of the Red Sox in the AL East.

I won the Homerun Derby with Evan Longoria. Faced off against Jason Werth in the final round.

Still looking at trades for Upton over the break and I expect to get a deal done before coming back from the break.

Also, I am a little disappointed in the All-Star team. Jeff Niemann who leads the leage in wins with a 12-2 record, did not make the All-Star team. My All-Star representatives are: Evan Longoria (starter), Ben Zobrist (reserve) & Kyle Farnsworth.

I'm 13 games in on my Reds franchise and I'm 8-5. I'm struggling on on the road going 2-4 on my early West Coast trip to Arizona and SD losing all 4 games by 3 runs or less. I am 6-1 in the friendly confines of GABP. Love/hate playing at home as the ball just flies out of it. Pitching staff has an ERA of around 3.70. Beat the Pirates in my last game 9-3 in the opener of a 7 game home stand before heading to division rivals St. Louis and Milwaukee for 6. I love the randomness of this game. I think the only thing that kept me from getting blown out was my offense as like in real life we are leading the NL in runs scored.

is jackson starting? if not, i would try trading soriano or maybe even byrd for some prospects and maybe even an above average fielder for 3rd base to replace ramirez in late innings of a tight game

In a somewhat savy move, the CPU took some of the prospects from other trades and flipped them from Bronson Arroyo and Carlos Zambrano. There have also been about half of a dozen more nutso trades.

My offense continues to score in bunches and then struggle. Bay, Hall, Thole, and Pagan are my steadiest hitters. Ike,Wright, and Reyes are hot/cold/hot/cold. I am debating if i should stop guessing pitches and just "see the ball, hit the ball". worth a shot.

Now i must decide which vets what i want to keep/trade. i want to shuttle off k-rod but he is in the middle of an insane season, converted 30+ in a row.
i wouldnt even think about trading krod in the middle of that unless you get a stud reliever and more. if you think about trading someone, go until mid august. if you start to slide big time or think you may be able to get a lot, put someone through waivers. ive done it with krod and beltran and neither were taken so i was able to trade them for some good mlb ready prospects (i was in 4th place, not close to making the playoffs

At the All Star break in my 2010 Braves Franchise - first year. We manage a 49-39 record over the first half of the season, 1.5 games behind the Phillies whom we've owned this year.

Here is how things look around the league in terms of division leaders.

AL East - Red Sox, 65-23 (Yankees sit 25 games back at 40-48 in 4th)
AL Central - White Sox, 56-32
                          AL West - Rangers, 55-33

                          NL East - Phillies, 51-38
                          NL Central - Cardinals, 53-35
                          NL west - Giants, 52-36

** Brian McCann was the only All Star selection from my team. I think Chipper and Kimbrel got snubbed.

Jayson Heyward is out for at least two months after we just got Freddie Freeman back after 3 months on the DL.

                          ** Colby Lewis is 12-0 with a 2.87ERA

10-4 with the Cubs early in the year. Lost Starling Castro to a shoulder injury for 3-4 weeks. Put him on the 15 day DL. After getting fed up with Blake DeWitt in the everyday lineup I signed Christian Guzman for 1 year 1.96 million. Like his glove and I may keep him up and send DeWitt down or designate him for assingment when Castro comes back.

LOL, first thing I did after I simulated Spring Training was to trade Dewitt for whoever I could get.

I think i am going to take you and the other person's advice and just keep him. I got a nice batch of prospects for Beltran and i don't really have the need to clean house. I just need to tweak.

As for my season, I just split with the Reds and up to game 3 in Washington. My most recent game I won 2-1 on a Bay solo shot in the top of the 11th. I played the entire game without guessing a pitch, had 8 hits...but struck out 16 times. However , I lost Thole for 1-2 months after a collision at the plate. I now have 3 catchers on the 60 day dl. Some kid who i signed off of FA has been forced into starting duty at AAA.

Not sure how much offense i can get out of Paulino/Nickeas. I am at the trading deadline, so I think it is time to shop for a catcher..
