With the patch, I now notice the sound stutter that was not there on the game boot up before the patch.

Will try a game when I get home.

But the menus are very smooth, no issues there pre and post patch.

I downloaded the update right away the first time I played the game so I have no idea what the game is like pre-update. I might try deleting the saved update and re-installing without it later today.

I played a full game this morning and I'm trying my damned hardest to ignore this issue and just get used to it so I can enjoy what is other wise a fantastic game. But it's still bugging the hell out of me. I think I'm going to shelve the game until opening day of the season and then check back in to see if there has been any acknowledgement or progress in getting the stuttering issues fixed.

Haven't noticed the stutter in game, but wasn't really looking for it either. Can't be that bad, since I either don't have it or it just went unnoticed. The only stutter that I get is when I load up the game. Right before the SCEA logo comes up with the umpire sweeping home plate there is a really bad stutter, but after that everything is good to go.

Was this stuttering in the demo? I did not see it if it was. Also, does this happen in just broadcast mode when the catcher is tossing it back to the pitcher?

I'm actually surprised a bigger deal isn't being made of this. First off, love the show but this is the first year I'm a little disappointed. I didn't notice any stuttering in the demo, but now I've had it off hits, foul balls and worst of all, the a.i. pitcher. I really hope this gets fixed or I guess its back to 10.

I'm thinking its the first patch causing the problem.

I deleted all MLB 11 information and re-inserted the game. I DID NOT download the patch. Once the game data installed, everything loading up smoothly. The sound leading up to the intro was flawless and the menus were lightning fast (no delay hitting start at opening screen). Also, I played a quick exhibition game with broadcast for pitching and there was no delay with catcher throwing the ball back to the pitcher.

When I try all the same settings WITH the patch, I get all the stuttering.

Interesting. That is the same thing I experienced without the patch. No boot up stutter in the sound, and menus and game smooth as silk. I have applied the patch, and only heard the stutter on boot up. Menus still seemed fine, I will try a game later.

But it could be either the patch, or a corruption in the patch with the install that effects some people. I also installed with the Ethernet unplugged... and applied the patch after the game data install and initial boot up.

Looks like it is the patch then, i tried without it and no stuttering on load screen, menus or in game.

Hoepfully this is fixed in the next patch and quick-ish.

Really? Interesting. I'll try deleting the patch later today then and see what happens. If you notice (as has been mentioned in this topic) the throw back to the pitcher stuttering literally starts in the second inning, first pitch. But the first inning is always as smooth as butter (like it should be). I'm trying to wrap my head around this and figure out why it would happen like that.

But I will try without the patch. If that Russell guy could comment on this it would make me happy to know if they will fix it or not because you can't download updated rosters without downloading the patch if that is actually what is causing this crap. So I don't know how to bring it to his attention other than the bugs thread.

I played three innings and all the throw backs were smooth. I'm going to try re-installing the patch again later and see what happens. I'm thinking the results are going to be the same, stuttering with patch and no stuttering without patch.

What did the first patch fix anyways?

No idea, someone here said it was last minute tweaks and bug fixes that the devs found after the game went gold and shipped. But they never posted what they were since no one would have experienced them anyway.

On the XMB go to game, go all the way up to Game Data utility, press x.

Go the the show icon, press triangle. Delete it.

When you go to play the show again, either unplug from the internet or press circle when it asks if you want to download the patch.

Without the patch, you cannot do anything online in the game.
