Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition

So after 50 games in the season I'm considering moving Peavy, Buerhle and Rios.

I can't pitch with Peavy (2 years contract 4.95 ERA), struggling with Buerhle (last year 6.00 ERA) and with Rios (4 years contract .171 avg)

I wanted for them 2 SP and 1 CF major league ready.
I have already offered the Mariners a straight swap between Rios and Gutierrez, I'll see what they say (Gutierrez is batting .190)

If I can't get him, I'm leaning to Colby Rasmus but thinking a straight swap Rasmus/Rios is a kind of a steal.
Maybe a combo Peavy + Rios for Rasmus + Lohse ? / McLellan ? / Garcia (don't think the Cards will let him)

    Any thoughts guys ?

This is where the game needs some sort of "injury rating" attached to players....AND recurring injury problems.
Peavy is a good pitcher and when healthy should fetch a fair amount in return....especially to a club in the hunt....but when a player is either injury prone or aging with a serious injury..his trade value should be weakened.
Also trading for MLB players for MLB players(not actually ON the MLB roster...but some sort of logic for a player that is "MLB ready") should also be less easy to do. If only for seeing less straight up trades. It should make much more sense with either needing a piece or salary dump for a team needing a specific piece(in which the other team should be getting a younger player IMO).

In any event...I think the latter of your deals is fairest...minus Lohse and plus a prospect instead on both ends.
So...Peavy/Rios/C prospect for Rasmus/high rated(A) prospect....and maybe some salary in return(I don't know the St. Louis payroll...but I don't know if they have a poor playing/big money guy on their team.

Edit...I had the prospect potentials swapped.

I need some opinions, I need a SS to replace Starlin Castro for 1-2 months. Do I trade for Adam Everett or Sign FA Julio Lugo? I just need a temp fill in that will be a bench guy once Castro returns

After doing some trading (parted with Olivo, League, Vargas, Pauley, prospects...) I have this as a starting rotation:

                        Felix Hernandez
                        Micheal Pineda
                        Ricky Nolasco
                        Edwin Jackson
                        Erik Bedard
                        Kemp for NL MVP
                        Montero for AL ROY

Thank you for the advice Knight.
But I decided to hold on these trades. Indeed, I looked at St Louis' standings and stats, Rasmus is their best offensive player so far and they already have 3 great SP (ERA under 3.00). From this point, they do not need any of my guys.

So I've decided to give a last chance to my guys till the break.
But only Peavy keeps his starting job. I put Buerhle on LRP till he comes back from his cold status.
And Rios has been removed from the starting job.

I call up top prospect Dayan Viciedo (A potential) to play RF regularly
Quentin play CF in small park. He's not so speed but has a good arm.
In larger park, Rios will play CF.
And I platoon Pierre/Dunn at LF/DH in small park. And Quentin/Dunn in larger one.
Pierre is a fast guy for sure, but not such a good defender. My girl must have a stonger arm than him

PS: Viciedo went 1-4 with 2K's for his first game @ Texas. Second game (@ Toronto) was better. 3-4, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 2 Runs. (The last AB was a deep flyball on the warning track)

I am coming up the trade deadline in my second season with the Braves. I have the best record in the NL, and my offense and pitching are both ranked near the top of the league. I am having trouble deciding what to do at the deadline. I have some A pot OF prospects that I am willing to trade: Shaffer (25yo), Wilkin Ramirez (26yo), & first season 1st rd pick (20yo). I am set for the next couple years in center w/ BJ Upton and in right w/ Heyward, but I am worried about my budget in a couple years when Heyward/Hanson/Minor/Jurrjens/Freeman/McCann will all be making millions/per.

Do you guys think it makes sense for me to trade 1-2 of those prospects for a stud hitter or pitcher to go for that WS title this year? I can get McCutchen or King Felix, but I am worried I will not be able to afford all these guys very soon and would not have much in the cupboard when that time came. Possibly get one of those guys, then trade a guy or two for prospects next year?

In my franchise Freddie Freeman was on the trading block because he had very low numbers 174. BA 2 HR and 18 RBI and the end of May. I am the mariners so i offered this package, Milton Bradely, Justin Vargas, and David Aardsma. Prado went down for the season so they get Bradely to play there. Vargas and Aardsma can come out of the bullpen or Vargas can start. I get a DH or fill in 1b for Smoak, and a young arm in Mike Minor to bolster my rotation. They acceptedthe deal, and i was doing really bad and i started over, downloaded OSFM, and redid the trade. Now my team looks good!!
