Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
I'm going to assume your out of contention, and thats why your shipping your Ace, but I would want a young mlb ready pitcher, Mike Leake or Homer Bailey type pitcher and then 2 A/B prospects at postions that you need some depth, i.e if you have an aging shortstop and no replacement, get a A pot SS...RED SOX NATION!!!!Comment

I have the 26th rated defense and am really slow.
He's also not my Ace either.Last edited by pootytang; 08-14-2011, 08:41 PM.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
So you found one trade that wouldn't happen and the whole system is shot, don't get me wrong the system does need some work, but you have no idea of what trades would/ wouldn't happen in real life, just because it is not likely to happen doesn't mean it wouldn't, you only have to take a look back to realise that, just like the CPU in mlb the show, real life GM's can make some boneheaded decision in the heat of trade deadline mania...
Giants get
C A.J Pierzynski
Twins get
P Francisco Lirano
P Joe Nathan
P Boof Bonsor
Chicago gets
Larry Bowa
Ryne Sandberg
Phillies get
Ivan DeJesus
Those are just a couple of examples from plenty, just because the CPU does some bad trades, doesn't mean they aren't possible in real life...Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
It would depend on what postion you were after but here's a few ideas
C - Yadier Molina; best defensive C in the game, McCann;good young soild C
Middle Infield - Pedroia, Phillips, Reyes, Roberts etc, plenty of choices here to boost Def and/or Speed
Outfield - Crawford, Ellsbury, Granderson, Jackson etc...
Based on what you have told me, you have prospects to spare so put together a decent package of them and you should be able to get 1 or 2 really good players to boost your speed and defense...RED SOX NATION!!!!Comment

Then why ship Price??? I'd be packaging some of those prospects for Speed/Defensive help to make a playoff push...

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
Okay, made a couple of trades in my Astros fantasy draft franchise that I thought were fair or close to... I hold a slim lead over the Cards and am looking for some pieces to hold them off in the second half... First one was with the Jays, who were sitting at the bottom of the AL East and had Votto on the block...
Astros get
1B Joey Votto
Jays get
LF Domonic Brown
2B Brad Emaus
SP Anthony Ranaudo
I get a big bat in the middle of my line-up, joins Tex and Zimmerman, Zimm moves to LF to cover Brown, Tex to 3B, Votto stays at 1B... The Jays get three great young A potential guys who will be great for them the next few years...
Next one was with the struggling Twins, they were quite a few games under .500 and had Tim Lincecum on the block...
Astros get
SP Tim Lincecum
Twins get
SP Tommy Hanson
SP Shelby Miller
Hanson will almost be an Ace by next year and Miller will be MLB ready as well so they get two young, high potential, cheap arms and I get the Staff Ace I need for a WS run... Probably in my favour but hey, compared to some others ive seen its pretty fair...RED SOX NATION!!!!Comment

It seems REALLY easy to trade for guys like BRandon Phillips. I can give up a c-prospect, and get him...Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
Mets desperate for a catcher so I make this trade
Sox acquire: Evan Longoria, Chris Ianetta, Steven Strasburg
Mets get: Madison Bumgarner, Matt Weiters, Kelly Shoppach
Sox acquire: Dustin Pedroia
Brewers get: Michael Young
Sox acquire: Andrew McCutchen, Rafael Furcal, Omar Infante
Indians get: Ichiro
Don't need Furcal but will take him, flip him to Orioles, they need SS
Sox acquire: Brandon Morrow, Dellin Betances, Antonio Bastardo
Orioles get: Rafael Furcal
Sox acquire:
Justin Verlander, Leonys Martin, Roger Bernadina
Padres get: Placido Polanco, Magglio Ordonez, Todd Helton
Sox acquire: Marlon Byrd, Ryan Howard, Jordan Zimmermann
Phillies get: Leonys Martin, Delin Betances, Carlos Lee
I could have just kept flipping players but I wasn't sure I needed anything more.
Oh by the way here is my lineup and pitching rotation:
CF McCutchen
2B Pedroia
SS Tulowitzki (2nd round pick in draft)
3B Longoria
LF Braun (1st round pick in draft)
DH David Ortiz
1B Ryan Howard
RF Dayan Viciedo (I have a sweet spot for him)
C Chris Iannetta
Rotation:
Justin Verlander
Steven Strasburg
Brandon Morrow
Derek Lowe
Jordan Zimmermann
SU Brad Lidge
SU Takashi Saito
CP Joe Nathan
Bench:
2B Jamey Carroll
2B Omar Infante
C Brayan Pena
CF Torii Hunter
I'm not sure this lineup can be beaten."Undaunted, I knew the game was mine to win. Just like in life, ALL of my successes depend on me. I'm the man who has the ball, I'm the man who can throw it faster than heck. So that is why I am better than everyone in the world."

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
It all depends on what the team is lacking in. You have to attack the desperation. I just did a fantasy draft for fun with the Red Sox. I only took the best hitters, completely disregarded pitching. After getting a stock pile of hitters I started drafting closers and moving them to relief pitchers. Here are some sample dumb trades where the computer over reacts to desperation. Worst trade by far was first one.

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
Well I wouldn't necessarily have that mentality...If your in contention by the trading deadline, u have to try to win at all costs....U jus can't be afraid to trade big-time prospects for proven veterans.....I'm in the same exact boat as u..I'm playing with a small-market team (Pirates) and i'm doin very well through 85 games...Granted, i haven't been scouring the trade block but i will have to soon...Like your team, the pirates don't have a bonafide ace, and like u, im VERY hesitant to unload top prospects..In your case, the royals have more pitching prospects (and prolly hitting prospects for that matter) then the Pirates, so the blow wouldn't hurt that much as it would for a team with a barren farm system
Just an update from the talk we were having about trading in my Royals franchise. I still haven't pulled the trigger on any big deals. I just started July and I'll probably make a move for a pitcher once teams become buyers and sellers. I brought Duffy up and he was playing well but got injured and is out for 2 months. Jeff Weaver is a stop gap as of right now until I find a pitcher to bring in.
Moose kept hitting well in AAA so I brought him up and traded Betemit to the Rays for a pitching prospect that is escaping me at the moment. I think he was like a B potential though. Nothing special.
I'm going with Getz at 2B, Moose at 3B and Escobar at SS. Aviles fills in at any spot I need him to. Before the season is up, I plan on bringing up Giavotella and hopefully Hosmer. Ka'aihue has decided he wants to hit at the major league level and Hoz is still struggling. Might trade Kila though.
