Re: 2013 Franchise Issue Explained (With Pics)
OK, TY......I still think that the problem has to do with the offers made during the "exclusive period" not sticking after that period ends.....yet the CPU A.I. assumes they have made these offers......which is why, a month later, the players are becoming FA's because the CPU doesn't realize that they haven't made an offer to them.....the player, because of the glitch, basically having been "non-tendered" becomes a FA...Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise Issue Explained (With Pics)
If I had to bet money on it, I would guess that the developers put in a mathematical logarithm that the CPU uses to balance it's budget to determine if it's going to re-sign a player or not. If this is true, maybe it's just a matter of tweaking the algorithm. And it would make for an easy fix.
But of course, this is just optimism and speculation coming from a math teacher.Comment

Good stuff. I tend to agree with the exclusive negotiations not registering theory.
But, why would me offering them after the period then trigger the other teams to do the same? From what I can tell, once I offered with two CPU teams, guys like Dominic Brown stayed out of Free Agency. Dominic Brown was not on any of my three teams.
Tim Lincecum and Buster Posey (and all players I made one time offers to for me three teams) all accepted. Minus Phil Hughes and a few others going into year 2015...which is to be expected, as some players will most certainly decline with proper programming. These players NEVER ended up as FA.
It's almost like once I made an offer, that player would eventually sign somewhere.
I don't know. I'll try to start a second test soon.Comment

Perhaps in a long thread where guys are forgoing playing the game they bought to try to troubleshoot a huge problem, if SCEA chimed in to provide some input as to the "inner workings" as it pertains to their work or progress on this bug, people wouldn't be speculating. Even if it's to say thanks for your feedback, it's really helping us figure this out, we should (or shouldn't) be able to fix this with a patch.
Think the guys spending all of their time running test sims have earned it. But that's just my opinion.
I'm torn.
I can't figure out if I find "the speculators"...who speak like they know exactly what's going on in the inner workings of SCEA studios...
A. Comical
B. Irratating
C. Sad
D. All of the above
I'm leaning towards D right now.
But please....whatever you do guys...don't stop!
I don't watch any television...so this is perfect entertainment!

Re: 2013 Franchise Issue Explained (With Pics)
I'm finishing up my sim of the 2015 offseason (or whatever year will start the season off in 2016)
results so far are positive from what I can see. I'm doing my own approach first. Then I will proceed with the one villian has been doing. Should have screenshots up shortly.
Quick rundown: so far I've had ONE "B" potential guy in his mid 20's become a FA as of the start of spring training. Everyone else has been "C" potential or lower
Also: the Red Sox have won like 3 WS in my sim, and were in a 4th one but lost to PHI. They beat my Cubs for one of them!!!! ::shakes fist::You do what you want in your association, don't let others ruin the fun. Don't bother with 'my sim'...the one TBarnes suggested with the 'auto' user profile. It's aweful. I didn't even need to get to 2015.
2014 FA pool is drowning with superstars.
The differences between the two sims:
Profile from manual to auto.
Training from manual to auto (both profiles).
I offered no contracts with NYY.
I'm dumbfounded. And disappointed, to say the least.Comment

I think it's unrealistic to NOT have a user team with manual control. Everyone would control at least one team, I thinkComment

Re: 2013 Franchise Issue Explained (With Pics)
As my sim winds down. I think I"ll share my approach to see if what I did was even a viable experiment or not.
I did a single team control franchise (cubs), but I turned the budgets to "off". I put everything for the Cubs on Auto, and basically had no interaction with the team until the offseason. Now, once in the offseason, In an effort to take the Cubs out of the mix, I basically made sure I resigned all of my FA every offseason, minus the 35+ year olds as they came up. I basically wanted to not have MY team feeding the FA screen and cluttering it up, I wanted to basically narow the FA list to just the players the CPU didn't tender contracts to over the offseason.
I'm not 100% that this was what people were looking for, I still need to run this again with 30 team control, but still leaving things on auto for everyone (minus my own interaction with my team in the offseason) and see if that makes a difference or not.
Now, I realize the money figures can get a tad screwy with budgets off, however, with SELF CONTROL!!!! the teams actually do seem to follow their budget structures. Teams like BOS, NYY, NYM have lots of players making 10+million a year, where as teams like PIT, SEA might only have 1 guy making 10+million. etc. So, even with blank checkbooks, the CPU still follows some degree of marketsized budget constraints.
Again, my approach may be completely off target. But it's something that was rattling around in my dome since the problem surfaced again this year, and I thought I would provide my input into the discussion.

Re: 2013 Franchise Issue Explained (With Pics)
Now dont anyone rush to my judgement, because no where do i see in the last 3 pics at least a few "star" players. To me i want to see maybe 3-4 per year in both position players and pitchers, because lets face it not everyone resigns.
So the question I have to ask is, are the star players just getting moved in trades?NFL - Denver Broncos
NCAAF - Boise State Broncos
