Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
I'm in a 30-team franchise where I'm the Phillies and the other 29 teams are CPU. The problem I have comes at the end of spring training.
Example: The computer automatically places guys like Bryce Harper and Mike Trout on the MLB roster, even though I don't have it set up that way in my roster file. When I go to move them down to AAA or AA, they make me use 1 of the 3 options.
How can I move them down without using an option.Comment

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
Hey guys,
Any tips on making pitching more interesting? It is the one area I am getting very bored with. I've tried analog and gone back to meter but still loses my interest. I started fast forwarding so I only bat, but then I lose control of the bullpen and pitching changes. Is there any way to manage only for those half innings?

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
Found a possible work around for retirements. On 30 team control when the draft comes about, only do 2-3 rounds of the draft and select "skip pick" for the rest. Since retirements are tied into the draft there will be less retirements because less draft picks. Unlike drafting and just releasing picks, selecting "skip pick" will not put any players into the game at all for that round.
When I tried this, in season mode, only 5 MLB players retired. About 30-40 retired from free agency though. Which is good as well as it cleans up the free agent market. What I noticed is that the CPU engine will retire free agents first, then work on MLB players.Comment

Use the steal(NOT the "ALL STEAL" quick key....the individual steal) instead.

Regarding 'Contract Renewable" players in the offseason:
How do I handle these? I am aware of the rules to sign them (80% of previous year's salary) but how do I find out the previous year's salary?Comment

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
I believe I made the dev team aware of this when I sent them a list of items for '12 from O.S. members.

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
I just posted this in the general Q&A thread, but I thought I'd post here too, since the question is sort of applicable in both.
I don't care for 30-team control, as I prefer the more organic and fantasy-based approach of letting the computer teams do what they want over the course of a season. However, I do like matching up the players with real life events (such as Adam Wainwright and Dallas Braden being out for the season).
I was told to make sure that I was using a roster which had 40-man rosters, and then to set injuries to manual and go in and injure all of the players on computer rosters that should be injured. Now, however, I am running into the problem that the computers just let these guys stay on their bench rather than assigning them to the DL, and there is nothing I can do about it. Now, this wouldn't be a HUGE problem, except in the case of teams like Pittsburgh (who have an injured Chris Snyder), position players are being forced into the backup catcher role. And in the case of Oakland, since Brett Anderson and Dallas Braden are both injured, guys like Craig Breslow are being used as starters.
tl;dr - Is there any way to make the computer put manually injured players onto the DL when I am not using 30 team control?Comment

I think this is a glitch....where the CPU just ignores manually DL'ed players thinking that you also want to assign them to the DL.
I'm pretty sure that they will re-assign them once they are ready to come off.
(I'll try it later, I haven't fooled with this in a while)
