I saw the Indians get -4 with a .377 record. The Mariners also got -4 at .364. Astros also got -5 with 52 wins, not sure but I think at .318. You also get a increase for making the Championship Series. I didn't see any team that made it that far get less than 3% increase, even the A's who only won 86 games and barely made the top 8.

I put a few new tips in there.
A secondary franchise save problem fix and mrs844224's budget guide.
Comduklakis
I'm trying to see what's up with your problem. I'm having trouble recreating what's going on with your franchise. I can change the profile associations/default profile and options without a problem......but yes...it is a bit more "convoluted" than last year it seems.
I'll keep trying.

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
Sorry if this has been stated, but a search couldn't find this glitch and figured this may be useful to some that read this or use this Thread to set up a Franchise w/ 30-team control. Please note I have all teams not controlled by myself set on Auto w/ a different setting I use as 'AI'; my team is controlled under Manual w/ 'Custom 3' title.
Regarding 30-team control, there is a bug for non-user team controls and the 'Billboard' option. If you control 1 (or more teams, but not all) the AI does not purchase options or sign-up to take $ from advertisers for Billboards for certain teams. All teams do take the 'Main Advertiser' option; where there is multi-year payments for certain goals acheived (0.400 record, 200 HRs, Tip Top field condition, etc). If you select R2, teams can get $ for signing advertisers on Billboards.
For example, if you control Seattle and have the AI control all other teams, only the teams above Seattle actually take $ or setup Billboards for profit. This does effect on how much $ all teams can make as a profit and could effect the business of teams. In this example, all NL teams and Texas do not have $ coming in from Billboard advertisers.
What I mean as above, is the game sets up Baltimore as the top team (similar on how the Gold Glove awards are given) and alphabetically through the AL East, then Chi-white sox through AL Central division, then the AL West. This then starts with Atlanta and the Giants are the last team.
So if you are controlling Arizona, all teams except the rest of the NL West have taken $ for the Billboard advertisers and you have to Manually go in an sign up teams; if that's what you wish to do. If you are controlling Baltimore, then every other team does not have this (and Manually have to go in).
Sorry this is kind of long, but wanted to make sure this is explained and understood. I will put in bugs/glitches section and if Knight or someone else would maybe shorten this explanation up and maybe include in the front page to inform on 30-Team control.Comment

Did you put this in the bug thread? If not I will see that Ramone gets this info.
Thanks!

So for now the only solution is to put marketing on manual for the profile that you use to control the other 29 teams besides the one you actually play games in a franchise using 30 team control?Comment

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
Keep everything on Auto and shouldn't be an issue with anything except what is stated above as the issue.
As an example, I have Seattle as my controlled team, so all other AL teams except Texas have the Billboard section sold to advertisers. You can go in and select manually (without changing anything else) what Billboards others should purchase/sell. So you would need to do Texas and all NL teams. If you are playing as the St. Louis, you would just need to go into the NL West teams and select this. And as stated, if you were only controlling Baltimore or another AL East team, you would have to do the rest of the league.
You do not need to change anything to Manual or Auto..just go in and pick the teams Billboards who do not have any sold to advertisers. Just letting others know if they was some sort of fairness or equal $ being given to their competition. If you want to leave it blank, it does nothing except keeping the AI controlled teams with a little less $.
No idea if this is an issue if you have your controlled team as 'Auto' for the Finances; as I have my under Manual and the AI teams are set to Auto. Did anyone else notice this under 30-Team control?Last edited by aktransplant007; 06-06-2011, 11:30 PM.Comment

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
Finances doesn't seem to be a issue. Teams will issue loans, at least the 1st year after which you don't need loans. One thing I noticed is that teams are pretty bad about repairing facilities on 30 team control with Facilities to Auto. You might want to go into all 30 teams and repair all facilities after the playoffs and before you go to the offseason. The one major issue on the Financial side is the issue of Funds. You don't use them a lot past the 1st year, and I've got over 900 million currently in funds. If they re-do franchise next year, they might take a look at that.Comment

They need to tone down dramatically how much we sell in souvenirs each game. Another idea is to be able to buy a new stadium with your funds when you accumulate a certain amount. I think when I tire of this franchise I'll restart the Royals without taking out any loans at the beginning and see if I can still turn it around.
Edit: Oh, and the other teams will update their facilities eventually, but they let the conditions get pretty crappy first. Every team seems to have updated their field late last season or early this one, but the other facilities get into pretty bad shape. The repair bill for the CWS' MRI machine is up to $15M.Last edited by vilsack08; 06-11-2011, 10:55 AM.Comment

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
Does anyone have any advice on how to avoid pick-off throwing errors? I am seriously about to get rid of this game because the CPU is cheaply making me throw 1-3 wild balls on pick-off attempts every game (especially late in tie-game situations). This is getting ridiculous. The CPU can throw pick-off attempts all day on me with no errors, yet as soon as I do it the ball goes sailing into the stands, putting the runner on third. I am trying to be realistic and hold runners from stealing the "baseball" way rather than to start messing with sliders. Is there anything I am missing? I am 100% fine with the fielding errors that I am seeing, but these pick-off throwing errors by my team are downright unfair, you just don't see 1-3 of these every game, especially by the same team.Comment

There are three pick off types. I'm pretty sure the "safe" one is the one that will yield the least amount of wild throws.

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
How do you do which one? I always push and hold LT and then push circle. I always thought that was the only attempt. I will re-read the manual and see if I can find it there. Thanks for the tip.Comment

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
I remember talking with the devs about it.
I don't see it in the manual.
Perhaps someone can clarify it for me.

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
I actually caught the CPU in a rundown the other day after catching the CPU runner leaning the wrong way after a deceptive move. Usually they try and dive back if they are clearly picked off, but it was cool to see the CPU take off after realizing they had been had and trying to make it to 2B.Currently Playing:

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
Yeah, a double tap is a more aggressive pickoff move and is where the errors usually come from. If you hold down the button, it's a deceptive move and if you just press the button once, it's a standard throw over to first.

Also added a work around for not being able to add players to your playoff roster on page one...
