Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds

    Okay...
Here is what it is with that.

    Single team control-YOUR PROFILE
Then have a "dummy" profile with how you want the CPU teams to be handled...with that profile have injuries to MANUAL...and injury MANAGEMENT to AUTO.
Set the dummy profile as the DEFAULT (It's on the USER SETTINGS screen)...just use the R1/R2 buttons to scroll through your profiles and find that one....leave it on the top and then hit USE AS DEFAULT.
Even though there is no association with the other teams(single team only shows YOUR profile association)...the rest of the league will follow that profile.

Thanks a lot for the help. So, does this mean that if I have already started a franchise and assigned the computer teams to no profile, there is no way of fixing this issue? Not a huge deal - but I guess that would be a bug worth reporting since we do have the option of injuring computer players even if their rosters are not controlled by us.

No...just make a profile with the choices I put in the post(manual injuries and injury management to AUTO) and make it the default profile.
The CPU teams will follow that profile.
(I'm pretty sure this will work, since when you choose just one team at the start of a franchise, you don't assign profiles to the CPU teams....it follows the default if it's not your profile)

I just offer everyone who's renewable 30k for 1 year. It takes a bit of time to reduce all the offers (particularly if you are doing full 30 team control) but then on last day that you can renew deals (look for the star on the calendar), you go to renew and it gives you what they made last year and you can adjust accordingly. If you think they make too much to renew even at 80%, don't make an offer. The only drawback is that usually one guy or so per team will take the 1 year/30k offer (usually a Single A guy with D or F potential).

The drawback to not knowing the renewal amount is that it may affect your Free agency offers, but if I remember correctly, using the OS full minors rosters every single renewable player made less than 500k, so it's not like any of these guys are going to break the bank and keep you from making an offer to a top free agent. Just assume most MLB level renewals will be in the 400k to 450k range and minor leaguers somewhat less. Average it out and budget accordingly.

That's a good approach to this.

This doesn't seem to be working either...it seems to me to be a glitch wherein the computer teams are programmed to DL players that incur injuries in games (like when an injury happens when a player is simulating and a prompt appears asking what action to take). When you manually injure a player the computer doesn't get this prompt, and therefore doesn't know to assign the players to the DL.

I tested this, and what you wrote above absolutely works if you assign all of the computer teams to a dummy profile at the beginning of the franchise and set everything this way. But when you do single team control, and leave the computer teams unchecked they seem to simply do things on their own terms (and there's no way to take control of them from within franchise mode).

Thanks a lot for the help, it's no big deal, and it only marginally hampers the experience of playing the best video game I've ever experienced. It's definitely not worth restarting my franchise over, but I think it's good to know for the future!

Any player not on the 40 man roster can be offered 30K-10 years and they will accept it or an offer slightly higher around Feb. 15th. You can even remove a player from the 40 and give them the same offer and they will accept. They have to accept any offer you give them. It's a major bug and one of the reasons I stopped playing the game.

For the June Draft and 30-Team control (29-CPU or different setting / 1-Personal setting), are you stuck/forced drafting for all 30 teams or is there a way to only draft for the 1 team you want control of (CPU drafts for the other 29 teams)?

It seems that I take control of Pitt everytime the draft starts and if I simulate, it simulates the entire draft. Thanks in advance for any help.

                    Unfortunately, yes......sort of.
(I have asked Kolbe to allow a "draft to next HUM team option)
You do have to physically make the choice for the "CPU" teams in 30 team control, BUT if you hit the square button at those teams screen for choosing a player, it will give you the player they want to draft.

I think it's the square (left) button you need to press. If not, press "select" and then click on the question mark to see the help page pertaining to the view you currently have.

                            Can anyone help me out?

I am playing franchise mode and have had 2 pitchers get hurt (a starter and a reliever). They are both on the 15-day DL, but I cant seem to figure out how to "call" players up from the minors to replace them.

I go to manage rosters and select a player. The menu pops up and I select "add to mlb roster" but it says they player must be on the 40 man roster. So I go back to the menu and select "add to 40 man roster" but I says I need to release or place a player on waivers.

I cant even release the guys on the DL until they come off of the DL and my pitching staff is undermanned now. How can I fill there spots until they come off the DL?

                            Thanks

The 15 day DL does not open any slots on the 40 man roster....only the 60 day DL does that.
You must either choose 2 players already on your 40 man roster or remove two guys from the 40 man and add the two players you want(who are not on the 40 man) in order to call them up.
